MFT rebooted this morning, while i was driving
Laurel replied to R3dRyd3r's topic in Audio, MyFord, Navigation & SYNC
You're welcome Mike. Hopefully they will help and figure things out. My guess is they will be better than the dealership. We asked for a training session on the Myford touch and Sync and got maybe 5 minutes and we knew more than our instructor from watching youtube videos. Don't want you giving up on your C-Max <g>. Keep us posted. -
C-Max is rocket propelled--day two of ownship report
Laurel replied to Laurel's topic in Lounge: Off-Topic
Scooter has long has it been in one place? Mine took a couple of days to move on several occasions. You likely will have it next week is my guess. -
Emla I'm like you--any excuse is a good one to take my C-Max out for a drive. First time that I've ever felt like this over a car. It's like having a new boyfriend and being obsessed.with him LOL.

Mike ignore my question as I just read about all your Ipod troubles. I read somewhere about a Sync support phone number. Can they help you? I am sorry for all your frustration. We did get the system freezing after we hooked up our 160 GB Ipod and then I unplugged it and things seemed okay. It has over 4000 songs on it and it seemed to work fine after the big brain freeze when it downloaded. I am not one that is very dependent on my Ipod so it doesn't really matter to me if it doesn't work down the road. Sirius in new to me and I am enjoying it. But my husband would be like you and be pretty miffed and would be like a dog with a bone until he got the issues resolved. Good luck. I just found the number 1-888-270-1055 Sync Support for the USA --Monday-Saturday 8:30 to 8 PM EST. If you speak with, ask them if there is a way to back up all your Sync data so you don't lose your stored info. when doing a master re-set. -

Gee that is a bummer! What sort of other problems if I may ask? Ours is doing fine so far--two days of ownership--knock on wood. -
Took Tip (my C-Max's name) up on the freeway today for the first time while doing a 120 kilometer visit to a friend. Holy smokes she moves! I decided to demo that feature after I picked up my friend. Freeway traffic was heavy with traffic flying by with few gaps and I put the pedal to the metal in the merge lane. I very nearly blew by the car I was trying to merge behind. My friend was holding on and I had a few rapid heart beats. I had under estimated the power. And she makes a very cool rumble sound like we are at the Indy Five Hundred LOL. I shall watch my heavy foot in the future, but it is very nice to know the C-Max has that kind of power. But sadly I lost a few leaves with that caper--they burned to a crisp <g>. I am loving everything so far. Tip stayed in EV mode for about 1/3 of the freeway traveling with cruise control set at 100 kilometers per hour. She would stay in it longer if I knocked it down to 95 but that was too pokey for safety. Myford Touch is working beautifully and in particular the voice commands work like a charm. The phone is dandy and works well. The nav is good so far. Sirius is good especially channel 5 for moldy oldies--not likely to renew it down the road though due to cost. My panoramic roof is great here in British Columbia even though it doesn't open--days are so dreary that the extra light is good. I am not putting my foot on the brake after I put her in park and shut her down due to one theory on the forum that may be causing battery drainage. Down the road I may experiment and see if anything negative happens. One minor complaint is about the centre console and the gear changing lever. You have to look on the dash to confirm that you have it in park, reverse, neutral etc. as the gear symbol letters don't light up on the console beside the shifting lever. I am wondering if this has lead to the dead battery issues? As the owner's manual says on page 177 not to leave in neutral or idle in neutral or you will drain the battery. I think it would be easy if you aren't paying attention to maybe slip it into neutral instead of park when driving into a dark garage. Just a thought on all the dead batteries. I am loving my car.

DRL / Daytime Running Lights (lamps)
Laurel replied to Hybrid dude's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors & Wipers
1. DRLs manual says "The system switches the headlamps on in daylight conditons. To switch the system on, switch the ignition on, and switch the lighting control to the off, autolamp, or parking lamp position". 2. Autolamps are manually set on my light control knob --clockwise it is the last position and it looks like a snowflake. Manual says "headlamps will switch on and off automatically in low light situations or during inclement weather. The headlamps will remain on for a period of time after you switch the ignition off. You can adjust the time delay using the information display controls. If you switch autolamps on in conjuntion with autowipers, low beam headlamps will illuminate automatically when the rain sensor activates the windshield wipers continuously". -
DRL / Daytime Running Lights (lamps)

No, I don't understand, but I think you are getting annoyed with me. I am thinking that my Canadian manual and light set up is different than yours as we do have a manual setting for Autolamps and my car has built in DLR that I don't have a switch for. Sorry if I am being obtuse. -

No, we have a setting that senses when it is dark out the car puts on the headlights on. My husband doesn't generally recommend I use it as I start up in the garage where it is dark, and then when I pull out into the brighter light they go off--he figures it is hard on the headlights ie going on and off too much. It is on page 91 called Autolamps. It is the fourth symbol to the right on our gauge. So if it is bright and sunny we just go with the automatic DRL and if it is grey and rainy we use the regular headlight setting. -
Welcome! It took about 7 weeks for our order to come to the west coast of Canada. We have Ice Storm SEL 303a package. We got it yesterday, and are on the learning curve. The forum is great for answering questions. Darrell helped me with the programing of favorites today. There are little things that the books don't seem to go into detail about. So now we have about 20 destinations programed successfully. All the technology is pretty cool, but some of it a little overwhelming. Hubby programed our garage door opener and townhouse gate about an hour ago with no sweat. We have the active park assist (hubby wanted it--heavens only knows why as we rarely parallel park)--so we just tried that. You need nerves of steel with that feature. It seems like you are going to hit the car parallel to you when it swings in. I had my husband abort one of our attempts as it was a real tight spot and I couldn't believe we were going to fit without taking out the other cars fender. But we are having lots of fun. I think Ice Storm is not a popular colour. I looked through all the dealer inventory in Canada, and grey and white were predominantly available and perhaps three Ice Storms in Canada from when I checked. Hubby is very neutral about the colour. It is what I would call a chameleon colour as it looks different in different light. In the showroom it seemed a very pale soft green, out in the bright light it was very pale blue, and parked in the rain a couple of hours later it was a drab grey. I think that makes it more interesting. I will post pictures soon. At the dealership yesterday, I had to pose with the salesman in front of our C-Max as it was the first one they have sold. I hope your new C-Max arrives ahead of schedule.

The SEL has the autolamps which is handy and they will go off automatically and we can adjust the time delay. -
Got my new Fusion this week if any 1 interested...

It did look like cabernet savignon wine on my computer, but I was unsure. Lovely! -
DRL / Daytime Running Lights (lamps)

We don't have a separate position for DRL as they come on automatically. Only a dim low beam front light comes on and no parking/tail lights come on. If you select parking lights on the switch, you have the DRL and parking lights on. Driving with DRL only has its hazards and people forget that they don't have tail lights. When we go into the city, we go through an underground tunnel and there is a sign telling people to manually switch on regular headlights. With the DRL the drivers can see in the tunnel, but the cars behind can run up on other car's rear ends pretty quickly without any tail lights on. So DRL would be safer with tail lights too. Why don't you just drive with your headlights on all the time? I tend to do that even with the DRL's on as we live in a very grey rainy climate and it is easy to get rear ended when it is pouring and visibility is so poor for 7 months of the year. -

Our system did that today (day two of having the car). Actually it froze first and we turned off the car and then started it up again, took out the SD car and put it back in, and still frozen. I then disconnected our IPOD with 4000 songs and it came on saying it was doing scheduled maintenance. Everything seemed tickety boo after. I figured the IPOD was just too much data. -
Setting favorites on Myford Touch nav.

Okay got it Darrell, and went out and tried it and voila it worked like a charm! Thanks so much. -

Setting favorites on Myford Touch nav.
Laurel replied to Laurel's topic in Audio, MyFord, Navigation & SYNC
Thanks Darrell --I found it and read through it. Still can't figure out how to put the name of the favorite in. -
We seemed to miss getting the Myford Touch booklet when we picked up the car yesterday. I am trying to set favorites, and all is well with entering the address. BUT I can't figure out how to enter the name of my favorite i.e. Fieldstone Bakery I just don't see anything to push to enter the name--yes street, street number, city all come up--but then I am lost at how to put the name in. Any help will be appreciated. We will go to the dealership and get the booklet later.

We live in a townhouse complex that is adult only, and the complex has a big contingent of elderly people. Many of them leave here for the winter and head to Arizona and Palm Springs for the whole winter. One of those neighbours just knocked on the door to give me their garbage as they leave this morning. I asked the neighbour if he wanted to see my new hybrid. He wandered around and asked questions and then looked at the C-Max logo on the rear hatch. He said does that say "Climax"? I said, "you're close Norm. It is a Ford C-Max". And then we laughed for next 5 minutes. He said he will never be able to think of it as anything other than the Ford Climax now LOL.

We drove the Prius V a couple of times while trying to make up our minds. My husband found it "okay" and I hated it. It reminded me of clunky stiff van. I am loving my new C-Max. Fell in love with it on our test drive--first car in 30 years that I can say this about (last one was the P1800 Volvo). It is just so sporty and comfortable and so pretty inside. I know you obviously bought the Prius V for the mileage, but I want style with good mileage. I think Ford has a real winner with the C-Max. I can't contribute to the mileage stats yet but will as we break in our new family member. Can hardly wait for morning to hit the road tomorrow and show it to all our friends.

Gee you are having some rotten luck. Maybe just a misalignment of the door hinges. I'm sorry as it must be so disappointing.

I think the sales people don't have a clue about checking the vehicle visibility report where they can tell exactly where your car is--usually the manager is the one who has that access on his computer (according to our salesman). Can you demand to see a copy of the vehicle visibility report? I got sent one about 8 days before my car arrived and then I tracked it myself. Fingers are crossed that it is there for you this weekend. Mine is 303A with sunroof--glad I got the sunroof as it makes the car seem more open.

That is funny Rachel! There is so much to learn and with a hybrid it is so different. It quickly becomes evident how dependent we are on sound ie. engine rev'ing etc. So it is going to take time to learn to rely more on gauges.

Body Side Moldings And Tinted Glass
Laurel replied to RedLdr1's topic in Accessories & Modifications
Very nice! We live in a rain forest so don't need any window tinting here--the more light the better.
