Well said Cat, everyone we give a drive to is also wowed. Gave a ride to a 98 yr old gentleman the other day, showing him all of the tech tools on the dash etc...., he said 'thanks for the glimpse into the future' - after going 50 miles (40 freeway), using exactly 1 gallon and getting 50.0 mpg. As a long since retired engineer, he was amazed. Nick

and I would trade in ..............if I was a robot ! :headspin: (All in good fun Priiiuss owners, all in good fun)

Congratz Knahs42, good decision (from some limited but good color options). Time to :happy feet: :happy feet: :happy feet:. I/we have gone both directions on interior colors (dark & light) in the past, thought we were headed for Stone as well until the dealer handed us a huge wad of money to take a beautiful Charcoal - love it as well (perfect here since we rarely see the sun :)). Happy driving ! Nick

The way you are going Snakebitten, you don't need the extra energy of Pure Gas. You have a great tank going - hold the posting Adair, a new PB is just about here. (Actually do hope you are near Adair for all of the new stars here, including this likely double posting) Does your secret driving sauce have anything to do with the dexterity of riding a horse? :) Gotta think that kind of foot dexterity relates to caring for the throttle of a C-Max somehow - feathering, as we say. 700 calling Snakebitten, (no pressure you know ;)) Nick I certainly sympathize with your urban / rural thoughts SB, many of us have feet (or at least thoughts) in both directions. Nevertheless, there is something a bit disturbing about this lifestyle:

DrD, Just to clarify, is that 55 PSI 'cold' or 'hot', since 51 'cold' would be around 55 (guessing) 'hot'? I have run several (eek many) sets of tires at max rec pressure if for no other reason then that I would neglect them and they always drift lower. In most cases these were on 'loaded' work/play type vehicles, but also on lesser load passenger vehicles as well. In most cases these were 50, 60 k mile Michelin. Always been pleased with max or near max pressure. Not sure why I am 'babying' our C-Max tires at 45, other than for a little more supple ride. Nick

Sorry P3G, but they have just as much right (and better rationale) to praise their vehicles as MRobinso8 has to smear Ford. Their comments would not have appeared had there not been an overly simplistic swipe at Ford. Painting them and others as insensitive is over reaching. They are likely no more insensitive to those with a battery issue than you or I. Hopefully we are allowed a measure of enthusiasm here. Nick

Fordfan82, here is some more opinion on the WeatherTech DigitalFit. I like the great fit & how light weight they are. http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/topic/1009-weathertech-digital-fit-mats/ Do some searches and you will find other options too.
-
Finally added the cargo liner - a very good fit. I was worried about the trailing edge, but they detailed it nicely and it lays nice and flat. Also I was surprised at how light weight it is. Perfetto ! Kudos again to WeatherTech for their DigitalFit mats.

Ford C-max least reliable car in America (Says CR)
C-MaxSea replied to Seth7721's topic in Lounge: Off-Topic
And 4. it is not even remotely 'scientific'; it is not a random sample which is a requisite of statistically (& scientifically) relevant surveys. It is essentially a 'squeaky wheel' survey with inconsistent (noisy) 'volunteer' data. (This '4' simply restating your flushed out item 1 above - 'Not a representative sample' - Kudos Darrel) Also, additional evaluations would show that newest technologies always get bitten the worst as the market adjusts to 'new fangled things' (or kills them in spite of their intrinsic value (like 'lifetime' stats)). The 'old reliable' nag will almost always outscore a newer better 'less reliable' steed in this type of survey. Nevertheless, CR's unscientific surveys can point out areas for caution - if only they would clean-up the way they present the data! (and quit grand standing) a black spot, is a black spot, is a black spot ! to casual observers, regardless of the implication, $5 or $5,000, 10 minutes or 10 days. Hope I have that right ;). Cheers to 2013 and 'Lifetime' (effectively a 'Trip 3') stats !!! -
Well stated Snakebitten & congratz ! It is indeed irresistible and mildly addictive for many of us; and "almost child's play for this magic little chariot" ,as you say. Now you can relax and just enjoy the C-Max, or engage further and 'shoot the moon'. Love all of the references we have used to describe our C-Maxes; Moon Buggy, Stealth Fighter, Magic Chariot ........... it begs for new & creative descriptors. Starship GG away, Nick

The rule of thumb for 2013ers has been that the pump will nearly always read higher (4,5,6, ? %). We assume that the trip computer is off, but then again, not all pumps are the same, nor the angle the car sits at etc...... Ptjones tracks this well, and there are other threads discussing this as well. I would sure like it to be more accurate, but don't know a thing about the details. Throws a little caution into the 600 mile tank game - although the miles to empty is very conservative, and 'protects us' somewhat. ;) ;) ;) Michael, I'm guessing your 'fist click' reading may have been very close / more 'accurate'. I would say anything within a tenth or two is a close/'accurate' reading. And PM, yours was the reverse, most interesting if you were 'on the level' and pumping the same as your previous tank. Yes, it will be necessary for a number of fill-ups to determine a trend for your vehicle. Hmmmm, has there been an improvement in the 2014s??? Nick Reminds me to look at our Member details to the left - it should identify the vehicle year, and yikes I need to fix mine !!!

Please no more of those trade-in stories -   an SE (guessing) for a level 3, and then praise the level 3 refinements, please. :nonono: :redcard: Jus, you are making my skin crawl entirely unnecessarily - six lashes with a used Priiiiii dash !!! (Assuming a full 'show of hands' throughout the Priiiiiii, of course)

No problem, we all see things askew occasionally. Nick

No they did not, please take a more careful look P3G. As I stated, and they show in numbers & graph, the 45% is for Plug-in Hybrids. :) That is 30% market share for the Fusion Energi and 15% for the C-Max Energi. They have been analyzing the electrically enhanced market sales for a long time and likely make few mistakes on the sales data. Their monthly 'Dashboard' write up is good and concise, and their data well presented and informative. They do have bogus/dated information on many cars however. The website is HybridCars.com, they do not track any non-hybrid car sales on the web site (AFAIK). In point of contrast, Ford has only a 4 % market share in the 'all electric' market with the Focus Electric, but doing well none-the-less. Nick

Khahs42, I would require the dealer provide a full coverage extended warranty on any 2013 due to its age (or buy one with the heavy discount). Also, require proof of a full charged, full capacity battery on board. Given an extended warranty, fresh battery, and an extra good price (similar to P3G above), and yes, I would I give a 2013 serious thought. The difference between the 13 & 14 are very minimal & relatively insignificant, and a few details even favor the 13. Yust my opinion, good luck, Nick PS I would bargain aggressively on the 2014 price as well :)

Scott and all, keep in mind that neither Fuelly nor FuelEconomy.gov are 'reliable' standardly acceptable statistical surveys, because they do not involve random sampling methodologies. I would guess as a rule that their results trend more 'randomly' (& more reliably) in the earlier years of model launch, but trend more toward 'enthusiasts' in maturity - and therefore Prius results would reflect a more 'enthusiast' non-random sample group (i.e. higher numbers). (Especially considering hybrid MPG enthusiasm.) My speculation. One can only surmise an edge to the Prius from these data, as opposed to 'solid' numbers. Far more importantly, they do not necessarily reflect you. We all know that you are not average! :) Good, 'high' MPGs are available to you on either C-Max or Prius; and even more importantly that MPG is just one aspect of vehicle ownership. Look & drive them all, measure yourself ........................ then buy a C-Max because it is so much better !!! My biased opinion Scott, take care, research, research, research, and enjoy the buying process, Nick Delighted with a 40+ MPG & spirited driving opportunities !!!

Ford: streaking ahead with 45% market share for Plug-in Hybrids, and weathering the storm for Hybrids (hopefully !). http://www.hybridcars.com/june-2014-dashboard/

Dynamite Wnuk, congratz !!! :hat_tip: Yes the EPA & CR numbers are most misleading, fundamentally because they focus on poor driving habits & averages rather than variability & opportunity. The beauty of the C-Max construct & build, is the opportunity to choose a driving style (by the minute, hour, day or 'lifetime') & reap built in efficiency benefits :) (or blow them up in smoke just having fun ;) ) Keep on Maxing, Nick PS EPA Highway 37 - absurd ! We can ECO Cruise all day at 65-67 mph and get 45+ mpg, all subject to weather (ASTW), of course. (Seattle area, all year round)

We swear by the 'blue' (EVe) & cheat ! (Purge the blue 'forever with a feather', & treat the ICE well ..... like ice, handle it with speed and minimally !) (Oh, and avoid the 'double burn' (Ice & battery combined for acceleration (white ICE mode with the battery chevron down)) like the plague :redcard: - unless showing off your 0-60 time :) . In other words, keep the chevron up (charging) when accelerating with the ICE) We :love_shower: :love_shower: :love_shower: our C-Max http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/topic/2962-the-force-is-with-you/

Great 'dealing' there Foto - you've got to love those numbers. Now your only problem is getting 'enough' ICE time on two ICE stingy buggies! (any rewiring of the umbilical ?) Nick

And there he goes :flyaway:, screaming by a host of us mere mortals !!! :clapping: :clapping: :clapping: Great work RJ, it is an amazing machine in many ways. Mere, mere mortals can have a blast driving the C-Max in the thirties mpg, mere mortals fun and utility in the forties, and then there are the RJs out there that can fly this moon buggy to, well ....... the moon !!! Congratz RJ, & on to greater heights of MPGdom, :victory: Nick
