Re: batteries 2016/7. Yes smaller HVB would be nice, and 'submerging' it lower would be nice, but in hindsight, I'm liking the existing floor layout just fine in the Hybrid. I would rather have a new HVB (same size) with more KWs, more range, and more MPGs, than more room - assuming that is possible. I like Obob's idea of an optional donut spare with attachment ('Travel (In)Convenience' or 'I like my tires, thank you very much' package ;).) BTW, I think Ford CRACK, 'knocked it out of the park' with the C-Max conversion to Hybrid !!! (Toy is still putting out underpowered recycled refrigerators for crying out loud ! Those Pregious, or whatever they are called) (((all in good fun Prius owners, all in good fun)))

Just happy gray cells Jus; and 'used car salesman' genes.

Ode to C-Max MPGs If Cowboys & Cookie Monsters can ECO to 50, And Appraisers & Astronomers 'Touch the Sky', Then surely the lot of us, with a wee bit of ‘feather’, Can take the next step and make apple (40+) pie. Apple pie ??? So very, very sorry for that, had a good start and landed on my nose. Thought I might find my way to 40, but “touch the Sky” (60 MPGs) killed me. Sorry, so very, very sorry, back to the writing board, Nick (Yes, just a wee bit of 'feather' & ECO cruise will get you to MPG glory: 40-50 !)

Why I'm glad they got rid of the lifetime MPG...
C-MaxSea replied to Kelleytoons's topic in Fuel Mileage
Never really thought of it that way Snowstorm, I think you have hit on it for some - at least perhaps the gardening types (at least one could hope/try). Thanks for the reminder. Nick (OK, OK, probably very wishful thinking) -
+1 Adrian on the C-Max 'Sal' commercial extended version. Saw the Sal comm. previously, but it must have been a 30 second spot (? or am I just forgetful). Not perfect, but great advert for a portion of the target market. So many good P. pokes, some direct, some subtle; hit most of the highlights, great/real family. Left out some handling/ride/materials ......... features, Kudos Ford. (P a learning ride...not over 60, Mom's reaction - priceless) Thanks for re-posting this RockwallRick.

Hope I don't overstate the case here with respect to gas consumption (and in all due respect), but I think it is accurate and safe to say that CR drivers suck, gas that is. AND C-MAX 600 Clubbers    ! and why - because they care to drive deliberately and take advantage of the built in efficiency available to them in the C-Max - IT IS EASY folks !!! and it is not about the 600 mile tank so much as getting the 41+, 43+, 45+, 47+, 49+ mpg's available in every day driving, 3 or 4 seasons of the year - your choice. (my sympathies to the frigid climes over long winters) No it does not require 'trickery', "sweaty brows", 'pokey driving', or "pancake" roads, as has been suggested - just knowing what makes sense for the road ahead and using gas effectively. Our 45+ mpgs involve about 70% freeway (albeit much of that urban freeway) and mostly hilly terrain (no mods). C-Max loves hills and valleys - and loves the 8 second fang on to the freeway :superhero: !!! Just my 2 cents, Nick

All I can say about Jus's new Pruiss: will it be RH drive, or LH drive - oh, wait, that's right, they are all EHU drive ...... you know Every Hand Up drive :lol2: :lol2: 'Would it be OK with everyone if I turn left here, come on, a show of hands please .................OK, OK, I'll go right .....'. (or have they allowed the driver to make some of the decisions on the new model? ;) ) Nick (He wouldn't dare :finger: :nonono: :finger:.)

Hey, wait a dog gone minute, won't find what? :swear: My 'C-Max is the best ride in town' hat is squarely on, thank you very much ! It beats our BMW ! (Oh, and pass the poupon please.) I'll have you know Mr. 800 or bust, we have just nailed our fourth 600 in a row ECO cruising the freeway with one foot on the dash, and only a little poupon spilled on my sleeve! Hurrumph, Nick (OK, OK, the BMW 5 is 'softer' - think old big boat feel; but the C-Max has much better handling ride - smooth, crisp, taut, quiet .........) Oh, and cheers to "Lead Foot Annie" - she's a keeper Kelleytoons, regardless the mpg's !

My C-Max is American and not Canadian
C-MaxSea replied to Laurel's topic in Audio, MyFord, Navigation & SYNC
What a lady TIP is - :), she knows her stuff - beautiful Limelights, great pick ! I'd almost forgotten that feature of the C-Max, can be taught to seek out & brake for preferred POI's, from plant nurseries to rodeos to toadstool conventions - so handy! Thanks Bruce, I already did a little Google Earth transporting and found some spectabular images of Shuswap - incredible! I can imagine exactly that, 'years' worth of exploring - I will be PMing you some day for more great tips on the area, can't wait to hit the road for some camping & hiking there. Nick PS, Laurel, any images of TIP with hydrangeas coming out her ears? -

Thanks Laurel, thanks Bruce, we are definitely putting Sunpeaks & Kamloops on our hit list, hopefully near term. Nick -
Very nice C-Maxing ! Congratz, glad you hung in there for the milestone. Yes just a few little adjustments, and 40+, 43+, 45+, MPGs are in the bag - not hard. For us it is mostly freeway ECO cruising, behaving in the city, and thrashing it on freeway on ramps. "Common sense" driving as Kelleytoons appropriately calls it. (except perhaps for the extra juice on the on ramps that is) Nick

I'm pretty sure the dealer will be able to fix your lift gate Wnuk. Nick

That is a lot of miles alleyritz, no problem. BTW, there is a great thread on acronyms somewhere here. Nick

Trolling up old dead posts two days in a row? Nevermind, Nick

Vmmvm is exactly right Fordfan82, it will vary a lot as the car tries to guess how well you will be driving, and how much EV time you will likely have as the tank empties. Our fill up today yielded a Miles to Empty display of 689 based on having just gone 614 miles on 12.2 gallons. (I believe that the 689 calc. also shows that we likely had plenty of gas in the tank to go another 40,50 miles before running out, even though the miles to empty was at 5 or 10 when we pulled in to the gas station.) Fordfan82, your "60 miles to empty" was probably good for 100 miles, but better to play it safe. Nick

Great driving Vmmvmmm !!! It is mostly your fabulous C-Max & then your driving skills (we all have terrain) !!! Paint a racing stripe on the hood, and maybe she will tell you to slow down. ;) You know that 52.3 will get you a 600 mile tank - come on now, keep it going. Nick

Clarification: I just wanted to say that I do agree with you two as well, Kelley & Adrian. I think what you/we here in the MPG department have all discovered very early on, that getting good gas mileage is easier than we thought it would be. By a combination of 'good driving habits', fair weather, and judicious speed, we can do 45+ with 'one hand tied behind our back'. My post #3 above may have missed the mark. When I say good driving habits I do not mean slow (or at least not grandpa slow); and I should have said overly aggressive, for 'bad' driving habits, resulting in the fun only reward (& lower MPG's). I think the fact that we have had 5 or more folks recently blasting through the 600 mile tank mark in one of their first few tanks highlights that - great fair weather MPG's are available to all practically from day one !!! My hat is way off to Wnuk, Snakebitten, Kostby, Rjdeeme29, Shinytop and others who have recently demonstrated how intuitive, rewarding and INSANEly good our C-Max is in the MPG game. :hat_tip: Thanks Kelleytoons for associating great gas mileage with 'common sense' driving. Indeed it is ! Nick PS Anyone 'see' Adair around lately, time to update the 600 mile tank club,

And then there is Jus, and Matt, and ........................... the third dimension, the next tier - the 100%ers. Yes it is necessary to differentiate (am I correct ???). We mere mortals with 'good driving habits' can do very, very well hugging the 47 to 53 zone - thank you very much. I think Jus is talking about the next level - intricate, but second nature to him, management of the hybrid system such that 54 - 70 numbers pop like, well ......... popcorn from the dash. Some of us may reach for that level and achieve it, some may just ECO cruise to 47 MPG glory and be satisfied at the 80-90% level.. Nick (Starship GG ((Gray Grouper)) is a Stealth Fighter, but driven by me, but a moon buggie :flyaway: ; now Maxine, driven by a hybrid master, well, she's the real deal, a Tardis sort of lady :superhero: :twister: :superhero: )
-
And thus the beauty of the C-Max: driven with simple, 'good' driving habits, it rewards you with great MPG's; , driven with 'bad' (say aggressive) driving habits and it rewards you with great fun. Either way rewarding, either way our choice. Indeed, for many of us, 'good' driving habits are second nature; unfortunately for many 'good' driving habits elude them, and 'retraining' is necessary for getting the best MPGs. Fortunately, most of the efficiency benefit of the system is 'built in' and rewards regardless of the driving style. Nick (all subject to weather, terrain, trip length ........................ ;))

Welcome Alleyritz.& congratz on the C-Max !!! With just two weeks, and 100 degree temps, just relax and don't sweat it too much to begin with. Lots of good reading here to get the hang of the car - a lot of tech on the dash to understand & customize to your liking. (Read here, play in the driveway, then test on lonely streets for best understanding) Good advice above on the AC etc... . Yes the instantaneous MPG gauge will show very wide swings between 20 and infinity; ignore it, other than as an indicator of what is happening with your power sources. It is subject to the grade of the road and which mode of operation the car is in - ICE, EV, or combined. You might want to just put the center MFT screen on the power distribution diagram for now to see what is happening. Also, test out different left side gauge screens for a while to become more familiar with the color (EV blue or ICE white mode) switching, power thresholds and battery charging. Notice particularly how the power sourcing is affected by the grade of the road, and your weight on the 'gas' peddle - learn to back off the throttle after shots of gas so that you slip into EV (blue) mode when you want, and then 'feather' the throttle. Very importantly, learn to know when the EV battery is charging & when not - the chevron up or chevron down, located over/under the EV battery symbol. Probably best to set up your ECO cruise for freeway driving and learn from it. Be patient, careful, take one step at a time understanding, and keep your 'eyes on the road' (most of the time). :) Trying to de-fume the planet, one neighborhood at a time, Nick ('Free' MPG's are the ones available to you in the form of EV driving mode, Ecoasting, & regen braking. You already 'paid' for them with the gas you used getting to speed or up that hill - use them or lose them !!! Stretch your gas energy as far as you can subject to terrain and climate dictates - or, just have fun in your screaming, tech teaming ECO machine :superhero: ) (Every gas & battery 'squirt' counts, but only if you are in the 'MPG/de-fume the planet' game - just trying to breath easier, more oxygen = better, healthier living, plant a tree, yadda, yadda, yadda .......... )

Ford C-max least reliable car in America (Says CR)
C-MaxSea replied to Seth7721's topic in Lounge: Off-Topic
I feel your 'pain' Rick ! You will enjoy the larger boot though. And, as you well know, you can always trade up someday. :) Best of luck and happy hybrid driving to you, they are all good, Nick (Good, yes, .............. just not nearly as good as a C-Max)
