  1. Perhaps so Steve, but I'm not sure of their interior vertical clearance - big stuff ?. Anyway, the 'V' is so far off the ugly (& perhaps handling) scale as not to matter (JMHO). :giggle: :giggle: :giggle: (((And it definitely is not in the 59 mpg's range of the article posted.))) Eschewing sedans forever, Nick
  2. What, our C-Max is rather fetching for a tall dude. :) ;) :)
  3. Good reminder Steve, we will always favor the 'all-around' item (as in C-Max here, by far), over the 'one trick pony' (Prius). ((Just try to get a couple bikes, wheel barrow, load of goods from the big box store in that Priiii, not to mention a medium to tall person in the rear seat)) (((Impressive 'highway' mpg, to be sure)))
  4. Ouch, that's a long wait. Hang in there Toecutter3 ! :runaway:
  5. Frank, Echoing others here, please do reconsider; we would/will all miss your presence significantly, and wish you a speedy resolution to your website wobbles & a welcome return. I have had issues here as well, still have, and do work-arounds all of the time. I suspect Kelley is right that it is likely all to do with Internet Explorer. That is what we use, and I believe all of my FordC-MaxHybridForum.com issues are traceable to updates to that browser. If I was not such a lazy goofball, I would remove & reload IE, or just use Firefox. Yes we have Firefox on our machine, and yes I have never tried it for this site; who knows, maybe I will try it tomorrow and not have to play games with work-arounds. ;) ;) ;) Do come back and Have(some more)Fun, :) :) :) All the best, Nick
  6. Welcome VKB. Could not agree more ! Enjoy the new ride - a more well rounded hybrid with power 'on-demand', solid feel and great road manners. Nick

    Hello!

Welcome Trefor. We renewed our 'space travel' yesterday, after four weeks away, and totally relate to your experience. Three weeks of our time away were down on planet earth in the form of a Fiat Panda 'lunch box' sort of craft, bumping & grinding (gears that is) the ratty roads of Sicily. Gadzooks ! What an amazing difference going from rough twisty roads in a Fiat, back to our beloved C-Max and smoooooth roads and the out-of-this-world feeling of zenish calm.. (((Ok, Ok, so I thoroughly enjoyed the three week crash-about in a tinny Fiat - still glad to be back 'Starship Enterprising' in our C-Max.))) Enjoy the 'new' ride, Nick
  8. :hat_tip: :hat_tip: :hat_tip: Great run Snowstorm !!! Your numbers mirror ours at 55 mph; and we are easily able to exceed 45 mpg at speeds 60-67 mph. Nick
  9. Good (perhaps great) looking sedan, handsome - but slooooow, did I hear 9.5 seconds, argh ! Should be a good seller, but not for taller folks, or for four adults - the rear legroom looked horrible and the headroom likely claustrophobic. Nick
  10. They fit !!! We generally just throw our bikes in the old VW Eurovan MV with front wheels removed if we need to reach a bike route; and I did not think it was possible to get them in the C-Max. Wrong; they fit both in the flat configuration, and in the upright position. For flat loading I removed only the front wheel; for upright loading I had to remove the seat post - not a problem. In both, I have the drivers seat all the way back for my normal driving. In the upright position the nose of the back wheel nestles between the front seats nicely. Now we are free to freewheel in the C-Max with no aero penalty. :happy feet: :happy feet: . Freewheeling in a C-Max, Nick

  13. Great choice, & congratz - from Beautiful BC ! Such lovely rain this weekend. (We are weekending up your way from Seattle) Enjoy, Nick
  14. Congrats :clapping: :clapping: :clapping:, and :hat_tip: :hat_tip: :hat_tip: :hat_tip: :hat_tip: to you Paul, Nick

    New Owner

:congrats: & :welcome:. Sounds like you are a good match for the C-Max JVillerot. Have a blast figuring out all of the controls on the quiet back streets, then enjoy some nice long drives !!! Power when you need it, and smooth sailing in ECO cruise. Nick (We rented a Chevy Sonic for a week in Feb - eeeeek what an awful & ugly dash, & tinny doors. OK box to get around for the price, I guess)
  16. Tis indeed the cold of winter for the most part Ecogirl. (Congrats on the purchase & welcome too.) We don't have much winter here in Lichenville (Seattle), so I can't relate, but freezing weather is the bane of all cars for gas mileage. Enjoy the new ride, and don't fret too much this winter since it is near completion and look forward to spring & summer. Keep in mind that the gas mileage will vary day to day subject to the state of charge of the hybrid battery beginning each day, and the routes you drive - and that the final measure is an annual reading. Elevation is very significant in the energy equations, and distance traveled (as stated above) is huge. Take a nice long drive on the next nice day off and watch the MPGs climb. Again, enjoy as best you can, and remember that you did good for the air you and your neighbors breath ! Hope it works out, Nick (PS Great price, but as you know, a risk factor with yours - I think it will be just fine if you get to know the manager of the service department - serious, go have a nice long chat with that person (all about developing your personal advocates in the service department). Also, you might want to invest in an extended warranty !)
  17. .......... indeed, this is getting very old; not the least of which is putting Ford in the same league with VW - the issues are apples & oranges, most importantly in scale (volume of cars, pollution .............) I believe it is extremely important to note that the VW debacle is not just about VW and VW car owners; it is also, and arguably more importantly about the environment and public health. I lost 8-9 months of health last year likely caused by diesel pollution experienced on a trip to Italy last year (Check out the diesel pollution in Paris these days). It is no joke, many urban areas over there are choking in diesel fumes because of VW, Citroen .................... spitting out all of these klunker diesels. Yes it involves both cars & trucks, and we have a huge hidden health hazard here in our diesel trucks as well; and yes there are 'new & improved' diesels coming out. My point stands, get those identified, illegal diesel klunkers fixed or off the roads. Anyway, it is not just about money and making VW owners happy. A loyal VW owner for decades, Nick
  18. Welcome keeper & ichrvready. Lots of good towing info here: Cargo, Hauling, Roof Racks & Towing Hope they work for both or you, Nick
  19. Those all work for me - joke. They could compensate old folks impacted with chronic bronchitis though - seriously. If that number is correct & their 'hands are tied', than that identifies another problem - too much power and poorly written enabling acts giving them zero flexibility. (poorly written laws are rife) The marginally written, minimally reliable article, on the other hand suggests significant EPA flexibility (which I'm guessing is more likely correct); therefore the answer is simple - extract less money over time and demand resolution of the offending vehicles - now. Way too much foot dragging by VW and way too much pollution unrestrained in the process. I'm guessing they have 'fixes', but are afraid to implement them because they will negatively effect MPG's. Sadly, they find it much easier to bully the EPA, instead of getting those klunkers fixed ! Just MO, Nick
  20. Indeed, & certainly understood that the EPA holds the gun, but the article stated: "The paper, .......... said the EPA was asking VW to produce electric vehicles at its plant in Chattanooga, Tennessee" and not the other way around - and that constitutes garble speak/logic/outrageous overreach to me. Making amends to me requires VW to forward the solution & fix the problem, period, period, period, - not buying indulgences offered up by the EPA. Silly me, Nick
  21. Snuffledorfer ! Did not know the EPA could dictate where things were built. ;) Way too Orwellian / fishy / outrageous sounding to me. Get those klunkers fixed or off the road. Swimming upstream in a PC world, Nick
  22. For us it was also never ONLY about the price of gas !!! Thankfully most of us still buy cars and not appliance cars. Stuff matters; like entry, head room, 0-60 speed / power to climb hills, cabin appointments, road manners, steering, sound deadening, door closure sound, ………………………………….. not to mention less ICE pollution !!! Great wisdom Zal, Kelley, Louder North; great numbers Marc ! Our C-Max ‘broke even’ the day we drove it off the lot – far greater ‘value’ (to us) than anything else available. Nick (((Love those $25 fill-ups - Gas guzzlers be-gone !!!))) :skateboard: (2015 SELs w/ NAV, Parking assist ............. advertised for less than 25K in our neighborhood)
  23. Well said Paul - Marketing & the 'art of illusion'. If it ain't fast, create the illusion that it is - that's all it takes ('I'll take a blue one please'....). I had a conversation with an employee with our Sound Transit - a construction management entity created for managing some of our public transit projects. He noted the joke in their office was whether the Priii they had would make it up some of our steep hills - they were relieved to have some C-Maxes which managed the hills easily. Nick

    Tire Life

We've crept up to 46 PSI cold, 48+- hot (38, 40, 42, 44, 46). Really love the 46 PSI ride - 38 is too soft / sluggish, even though the difference (38 to 46) is not that much. Sure glad you high mile guys are here to report longevity results ! 48 PSI cold here we go? Nick
