  2. This from OASIS Monday: Jan 20 2014 4522 -2013 C-Max, 2013-2014 Escape/Focus - Sonax Polymer Net Shield - Assistance With Obtaining Locally If you are having a problem obtaining the Sonax Polymer Net Shield product (part number 223 100), use internet search engine and type in Sonax Polymer Net Shield and you will come up with many available avenues to obtain the product needed for TSB 13-12-13. I haven't a clue as to what Sonax Polymer Net Shield is, but since it's C-Max related, I thought I'd pass this along.
  3. This from OASIS Monday: Jan 20 2014 4521 -2012-2014 Focus, 2013-2014 Escape And C-Max - DTC P1594 Some 2012-2014 Focus, 2013-2014 Escape and C-Max vehicles may exhibit DTC P1594 stored in the Body Control Module (BCM). If there is a symptom of start-stall after vehicle is remote started (within 20 sethis applies to factory or dealer installationconds) and P1594 is set in BCM with no other codes, refer to WSM, Section 414-00, PPT for BCM DTC U1007. Confirm that BMS connections and sensor are functioning properly. Replacement of the BCM without clearing other DTCs may result in a repeat repair. Monitor OASIS for updates, please continue to submit GCR REPORTS. Sorry, no indication as to whether this applies to factory and/or dealer installed remote start.
  4. I believe so since some of the SE dead battery failures were apparently caused by water intrusion into the fog-light wiring harness.
  5. I know nothing about Wisconsin law, but I would think your next step would some sort of Dept of Consumer Protection or state Attorney General. Just my 2 cents.
  6. Came across this on OASIS yesterday. Don't know what, if anything, to make of it, but thought it worth sharing. 2014 vehicles equipped with SYNC are currently being built with software version 4.3. The IDS may indicate that version 4.3 is available for service. This software is intended for production vehicles only and will have no impact on vehicles currently at version 4.2. Refer to Workshop Manual, Section 415-00 for normal diagnosis information. Warranty claims submitted for performing a software update from software version 4.2 to 4.3 will not be reimbursed.
  7. It would also be nice to have a list of all "Configuration Data" items. I'd guess Daytime Running Lights is on the list among others.
  8. C-Max needs a dome light over the cargo area (see "Interior" sub-forum).
  9. Rescue vehicles and fire trucks are now a light color for this very reason.
  10. This from OASIS today: Some 2013-2014 C-MAX, Fusion and MKZ Hybrid/Energi vehicles may illuminate the wrench lamp (Hybrids) or the Service Engine Soon lamp (Energi) when using the engine block heater, with diagnostic trouble codes P1A18, P1A19, P0AEE or P0BCD in continuous memory of the SOBDM-C. The lamps will turn off within no more than three drive cycles after the engine block heater is unplugged. Engineering is currently investigating this condition and will be releasing an updated calibration to resolve this concern. Monitor OASIS for updates.
  11. Because as designed, the Nook Color is a reader only. By rooting it, it can become an honest-to-goodness android tablet capable of running apps, accessing to the Google Play store, etc. But we're getting a bit off topic. Cheers.
  12. There's a Field Service Action (FSA) about reprogramming the FCDIM (Front Control Display Interface Module) mentioned in the Maintenance sub-forum.
  13. The Nook HD+ officially supports bluetooth so my "within 3 feet" caveat does not apply. As to OBD adapters, they seem to be pretty generic. I don't recall which bluetooth adapter I bought, but it was about $12 from Amazon. I've not tried a WiFi OBD scanner so I can't comment as to their usability, but if I had to pick, I'd stick with bluetooth. wab's comments about buying an Android-enabled microSD card are right-on if you are squeemish about making your own. In my case, with the Nook Color, making the android card required a bit of reading in various android forums and some computer skills learned over the years. The result is my Nook Color can easily be booted either as a standard Barnes&Noble reader or as a full-fledged android tablet. Hope this helps.
  14. This from OASIS today: Some 2013 C-Max and F-Super Duty vehicles equipped with MyFord Touch may exhibit a concern where the radio will not turn on, message saying SIRUS Update stuck at 0% status, CD will not eject with message saying - No Disk. To temporarily correct this condition, remove fuse 29 from the Body Control Module (BCM) on F-Super Duty and both fuse 67 and 79 on the C-Max for a minimum of 30 seconds to reset the Audio Control Module (ACM). A permanent software fix is being developed, continue to monitor oasis for updates.
  15. Excellent idea. Add this one to the "how to better the C-max" list.
  16. Oh but it did need recharging: to get the voltage up above the go/no-go threshold. Try this for an analogy. Imagine the 12V battery is like a bucket with water in it and a spigot high up on the side. To start the car, you need water to flow out of the spigot. While the bucket may still have lots of water in it, if the water level (i.e.voltage) is below the spigot, the car won't start. Incidentally, there's a completely separate energi forum (fordcmaxenergiforum.com or some such) that may be useful. It's n/a for me so I haven't looked. Hope this helps. Cheers.
  17. Actually, this is very typical of the dead battery syndrome. There's a minimum voltage needed for the car to come alive. The threshold is very sharp (binary); i.e. the 12V battery voltage is either above it or not. If above, all is well, if not the entire car is DoA; there's no middle ground. It's like Yoda said in The Empire Strikes Back, "Do or do not, there is no try."
  18. A perfect example of why pedestrians having the right-of-way is an ill conceived regulation.
  19. If you've been notified about the recall but have yet to have it performed, then I think this is your fault. If you have not yet been notified, or had the fix performed and there was no chime (i.e. the fix didn't work), then I think Ford is partly to blame. My 2 cents worth.
  20. Good question. In Connecticut, the DoT also uses a good bit of salt. They have also started pre-treating in advance of storms using a liquid of some sort. It works well, but I understand it has created more corrosion problems that salt alone. I would think a trip through the underbody car wash would suffice to help prevent rust. Cheers.
  21. What I posted is all there is on OASIS. This explanation sounds about right to me (emphasis mine).
