Next time I'll gladly pay the dealer to change the filter. What a PITA!!! The video and pictures were a great help. Note also, the screw is T15, not T20 as stated in an earlier post.

Lest this be misinterpreted, the 12v battery does not do the cranking; the high voltage battery does that. But 12v is still needed to get the whole system going initially..

And for those that may want to play around with it, Torque Lite is free. I haven't used the Pro version, so I can't comment on the differences; check the Torque web site.

That's the easiest to repeat. The initial symptom I noticed was a whining noise while driving. This happened in all gears, including neutral, and whether or not accelerating or coasting. It almost sounded like tires whining and was first noticed on the trip home from South Carolina after Thanksgiving. -
FYI, 2+ weeks using new transmission. So far, so good. Nice and quiet again. :-)

FYI, I just had the transmission replaced under warranty (33k miles). Took 6 weeks; 4 just to get a new (not rebuilt) transmission. See TSB forum for more info.

Just to be clear, the C-Max transmission does not have a torque converter. The planetary gear set and motor/generators replace all that. Cheers.

I just had a Fusion rental for a month and had a problem with front windows not going down. Come to find out the glass was frozen to the outside weather stripping. I ran a credit card along the bottom outside edge, between the glass and the door, and then the windows worked correctly.

SSM 44606 - 2013-2014 C-MAX, Focus and 2014 Fiesta, Transit Connect - Several Radio IssuesSome 2013-2014 C-MAX, Focus and 2014 Fiesta, Transit Connect vehicles may exhibit one or more of the following concerns: AM/FM/Sirius radio display does not update when changing stations using presets or frequency selector, during CD operation the track info is blank and no information available, FM mode Autostore does not store stations in numerical order, and/or following a vehicle start-up the radio cannot be heard until the radio on/off is cycled, volume level is adjusted or the radio station is changed. To correct these conditions reprogram the Audio Control Module (ACM) to the latest calibration using IDS release 90.04 and higher. Calibration files may also be obtained at www.motorcraft.com. For warranty claiming use causal part 19C107, and use applicable 12651D labor operations in SLTS manual Section 10 for the vehicle.

SSM 44628 - Multiple Vehicle Lines - Radio Can Be Turned On With Ignition Off and Door Open- Audio Extended Play Mode - Normal OperationSome customers may notice that the radio can be turned on after the ignition is turned off and the door is opened. All 2012-2014 Focus, 2013-2014 C-Max, Edge, Escape, Explorer, Fiesta, Flex, Fusion, MKS, MKT, MKX, MKZ, Taurus, Police Sedan, Police Utility, and 2015 Transit are equipped with an Audio Extended Play Mode which allows the radio to be turned back on after other accessories have been turned off with the accessory delay feature. As long as the accessory delay feature is able to turn the radio and accessories off, it is normal operation for the radio to be turned back on using the audio power button on the FCIM. Reference section 415-00 of the workshop manual for the description and operation of the Audio Extended Play Mode.

SSM 44699 - 2014 Escape / 2014 Focus / 2013-2014 C-MAX- Illumination Dimmer Setting Reverts Back To BrightSome 2014 Escape vehicles built on or before 12/01/2013, 2014 Focus vehicles built on or before 12/10/2013 and 2013-2014 C-MAX vehicles built on or before 11/27/2013 may exhibit the illumination dimmer setting reverting back to bright after the vehicle sits long enough to allow the body control module (BCM) to go intodeep sleep mode. If a vehicle comes in for this issue, reprogram the Body Control module (BCM) to the latest calibration using IDS release 92.01 or higher. Useapplicable 12651D labor operations in section 10 of the SLTS manual and use causal part 14A068. Calibration files may also be obtained at www.motorcraft.com

SSM 44776 - 2013-2014 C-Max, 2013-2015 Fusion HEV/PHEV and MKZ HEV, or 2012-2014 Focus BEV - Powertrain Modules Coordinated Flash - Service Tip2013-2014 C-Max, 2013-2015 Fusion HEV/PHEV and MKZ HEV, and 2012-2014 Focus BEV require a coordinated flash when performing module programming for the ABS, BECM, PCM, SOBDM, or TCM. When module programming is initiated for any of these modules, the IDS will check for software updates for the ABS, BECM, PCM, SOBDM, and the TCM and will automatically install updates to each module that is not already at the latest level. If the coordinated flash is interrupted undesired vehicle operation may result. If the ABS module is programmed during the coordinated flash, DTC C1018 may be present after programming has completed, and the Multi-Calibration Routine must be performed. The Multi-Calibration Routine is found in IDS by selecting Toolbox - Chassis - Braking – Service Routine – Multi-Calibration.Posters Note: This rather implies that it is possible to have an incomplete or partial software update.

SSM 44829 - Various SYNC Equipped Vehicles – Apple iOS 8 and or iPhone 6 Functional IssuesSome customers with SYNC equipped vehicles may experience Bluetooth connectivity issues after upgrading to Apple iOS 8/8.01/8.02 or using an iPhone 6 with SYNC. This is not a SYNC hardware or software concern. Apple advised that release iOS 8.1 resolved Bluetooth connectivity issues. Please direct customers to update to Apple iOS 8.1 or later. SSM 44855 - 2013-2015 C-Max 2013-2015 Escape and 2012-2014 Focus - Compact Disc Player Failure To Eject DiscSome 2013-2015 C-Max 2013-2015 Escape and 2012-2014 Focus vehicles equipped with My Ford Touch may exhibit a compact disc (CD) stuck in the player when attempting to eject. Prior to following normal diagnostics, first check for misalignment of the CD player to instrument panel center middle trim panel. Refer to Workshop Manual, Section 501-12 for removal and installation. Attempt to eject the CD while the trim panel is removed. If the CD ejects, realign the Audio Front Control Module(ACM) as needed for proper alignment and do not replace the Audio HeadUnit. If the CD does not eject, follow normal workshop manual diagnostics

SSM 44863 - 2010-2015 Multiple Vehicles - Flutter/Turbulance Noise At Highway Speeds With Rear Windows Or Moon/Sun Roof OpenSome 2010-2015 Vehicles may exhibit a flutter/turbulence noise (helicopter noise) at highway speeds when rear door window(s) or sun/moon roof are open. This condition is a characteristic of the vehicle body design and is also a characteristic of competitive vehicles with a similar body style. This condition can be reduced by lowering either one, or both, of the front windows at least 2 inches. No service action is recommended for this condition.

SSM 44718 - 2012-2014 Focus Electric / 2013-2014 C-Max Hybrid/Energi Hybrid Secondary Data Link Connector (DLC) and Aftermarket Devices Potentially Causing Drivabiltiy Issues2012-2014 Focus Electric and 2013-2014 C-Max Hybrid/Energi vehicles are equipped with a secondary (16-pin) Smart Data Link Connector (SDLC) under the driver side dash. The secondary SDLC, also known as a GateWay Module (GWM) is located at C2803 and is under the dash compared to the primary DLC which is located behind a access door in the lower dash. Always use the DLC at C251 in the dash for Integrated Diagnostic System (IDS) connection behind the access door. Please check both DLC connectors for any aftermarket device. Disconnect any aftermarket devices from all Data Link Connectors and retest for codes before pursuing normal diagnostics. Aftermarket DLC Devices can cause inaccurate DTCs and Warning Message Indicators, and set DTC codes that can lead to incorrect diagnosis and repair.

From Oasis: Jan 29 2015 5957-2015 CMax - P0116 With MIL Illuminated and/or "Engine Coolant Over-Temperature" Warning Message Displayed After Using Remote Start Some 2015 C-Max vehicles with Integrated Remote Start may display a message stating "Engine Coolant Over Temperature" following a remote start event when the engine is started using the key or Push to Start button. DTC P0116 may set in the PCM when this condition occurs. This condition will only occur when the remote start system times out, causing the vehicle to shut off. If only DTC P0116 is present, verify that the customer used the Integrated Remote Start system when the concern occurred and clear the DTC. Engineering is currently investigating this concern and no repairs should be performed at this time, if DTC P0116 occurred after a remote start event. If the vehicle is not equipped with Integrated Remote Start, or remote start was not used, follow normal WSM diagnostic and repair procedures.

TSB 13-12-24HYBRID - RED TRIANGLE LAMP AND POSSIBLE NO-START - P0ADC, P0AE0 OR P0AE7 Publication Date: December 17, 2013 FORD: 2013 C-MAX 2013-2014 Fusion LINCOLN: 2013-2014 MKZ ISSUE: Some 2013 C-MAX Hybrid vehicles built on or before 10/14/2013 and 2013-2014 Fusion/MKZ Hybrid vehicles built on or before 9/30/2013 may exhibit an illuminated red triangle lamp and possibly a no-start condition. Diagnostic trouble codes P0ADC, P0AE0 and/or P0AE7 will be stored in the battery energy control module (BECM). ACTION: Reprogram the BECM to the latest calibration using IDS release 87.03 and higher. Calibration files may also be obtained at www.motorcraft.com. At the Module Reprogramming screen in the IDS service tool, select Program PCM. By selecting PCM the update will be applied to the appropriate modules as required by the software update.

TSB 14-0013CENTER CONSOLE LATCH BROKEN - LATCH HOUSING CRACKED Publication Date: January 20, 2014 FORD: 2013 C-MAX FORD: 2013-2014 Escape ISSUE: Some 2013-2014 Escape built on or before 11/4/2013 and 2013 C-MAX vehicles built on or before 11/5/2013 may exhibit a broken center console latch or latch housing cracked. ACTION: Follow the Service Procedure Steps to correct the condition. SERVICE PROCEDURE Remove the armrest lid inner liner with a plastic trim tool. Start at the top of the lid and work down each side. (Figures 1-3) Figure 1 - 14-0013 Save the spring loaded latch handle and rod assembly. (Figure 4) Figure 2 - 14-0013 Remove the latch housing from the armrest. (Figure 5) Figure 3 - 14-0013 Install the new latch housing. Torque the 3 fasteners to 1.9 Nm +/- 0.3 Nm (16.8 lb-in +/- 2.7 lb-in).Snap in the new armrest lid inner liner. (Figure 6) Figure 4 - 14-0013 If the spring and rod assembly were loose from the handle assembly, install the spring into the handle slots on both sides and slide the rod through. (Figures 7 and 8) Figure 5 - 14-0013 Install the spring loaded latch handle into the latch housing. (Figures 9 and 10)

ISSUE: Some 2013 C-MAX, Fusion/MKZ Hybrid and Energi vehicles may exhibit the check engine lamp, and/or wrench lamp, and/or red triangle lamp illuminating accompanied by various diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs). ACTION: Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition. SERVICE PROCEDURE Do you have any of the following DTCs: P0053, P01EB, P0400, P0505, P0600, P061A, P062C, P06B8, P0B0D, P0C28, P0C29, P0C2A, P1124, P175A, P2610, U1011? Yes - one or more of the DTCs are present. Reprogram the powertrain control module (PCM) to the latest calibration using IDS release 88.03 and higher. Calibration files may also be obtained at www.motorcraft.com. At the Module Reprogramming screen in the IDS service tool, select Program PCM. TSB 14-0030REAR DOOR TRIM PANELS LOOSE - BUILT ON OR BEFORE 6/28/2013 Publication Date: February 17, 2014 FORD: 2013 C-MAX ISSUE: Some 2013 C-MAX vehicles built on or before 6/28/2013 may exhibit loose attachment of the left or right rear door trim panels, typically near the bottom of the door. A new retaining clip is now available to perform the repair. ACTION: Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition. SERVICE PROCEDURE Is the affected rear door trim panel damaged as a result of the loose attachment? Yes - replace the rear door trim panel. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 501-05. Use new style grey retaining clip on new door panel in the location identified. Repair is complete. (Figures 1 and 2) Figure 1 - 14-0030 Figure 2 - 14-0030 No - proceed to Step 2. Remove the affected rear door trim panel. Refer to WSM, Section 501-05.Remove and discard the one retaining clip from the rear door trim panel as shown. (Figure 2)Install the new grey retaining clip into the door trim panel. When the retaining clip is inserted correctly a clicking noise can be heard. Install the rear door trim panel. Refer to WSM, Section 501-05.

The last known vehicle location may be displayed instead of current location, or the vehicle location may be displayed as off road from the current vehicle position.
