Turn off rear tail gate kick function
ceemax71 replied to GFrans1's topic in Cargo, Hauling, Roof Racks & Towing
Keep your intelligent access key at least 3 feet away from the lift gate and the kick to open will be disabled. -
The manual says it will reset itself up to 5 times. It doesn't explicitly say, but you probably have to restart the car after the 5 trips. From the shop manual description and operation: Short circuits on the inverter output circuits: If the inverter detects a short on the output circuit(s), it shuts down. After 6 seconds, it restarts and checks for a short condition. If the condition still exists, the inverter shuts down again. The inverter restarts 5 times and, if the short still exists on the 5th restart the inverter disables AC output and flashes the green LED indicator.

According to the shop manual, the 110VAC inverter has self protection against short circuit, overload, high temperature, and high or low battery voltage. If you plug in a device that requires over 150 watts, it will shut itself off after a few seconds. The green LED will flash when it shuts itself.

Actually the amps capacity is: 150/110=1.36 Amps It would be nice if it was good for 12.5 amps. It is supposed to provide enough power for laptop computers, phone chargers, and game consoles.

This condition may be caused by chafe in the wiring harness between the headliner and roof sheet metal pass through, just forward of the point where the harness enters the flexible convolute to the liftgate. Repair damaged circuits as required following repair procedures in Wiring Diagram, Section 5-1. Use available service labor times.

On OASIS, it specifies that the update procedure requires that the ignition cannot be on (key on ignition off) for the update to work correctly. I wonder if some dealers are doing the update with the ignition on causing a bad update. These are the dealer instructions for doing the 13B07 update. NOTE: When programming or reprogramming a module, use the following basic checks to ensure programming completes without errors. Make sure the 12v battery is fully charged before carrying out the programming steps and connect IDS/scan tool to a power source. Inspect Vehicle Communication Module (VCM) and cables for any damage. Make sure scan tool connections are not interrupted during programming. A hardwired internet connection is strongly recommended. Turn off all unnecessary accessories (radio, heated/cooled seats, head lamps, interior lamps, HVAC system, etc.) and close doors. Disconnect/depower any aftermarket accessories (remote start, alarm, power inverter, CB radio, etc.). Follow all scan tool on-screen instructions carefully. Disable IDS/scan tool sleep mode, screensaver, hibernation modes. Create all sessions Key On Engine Off (KOEO). Starting the vehicle before creating a session will cause errors within the programming inhale process.

I think the decision on how to accelerate from a stop depends greatly on the terrain ahead. I accelerate in EV mode from a stop in the following conditions: When I know the road ahead is downhill and can use the hill to recharge the batteryWill be cruising less than 45-50mphStop-and-go trafficWhen there is a stop sign, red light, or sharp turn just aheadI accelerate in ICE mode from a stop in the following conditions: When the road ahead is uphillAccelerating to over 50 mph (on-ramp to highway)When it safer than accelerating in EV (traffic approaching from behind)When the HV battery state-of-charge is lowI think the Ford advice on accelerating from a stop might be over-simplified.

"Since the dealer didnt know to much i was wondering since the born on date say 7/13 will this car already have the software update?" Yes, according to the 13B07 bulletin since it was built after July 8, 2013: SUBJECT: Customer Satisfaction Program 13B07 Certain 2013 Model Year C-MAX, Fusion, and MKZ Hybrid Vehicles Fuel Economy Improvement - Powertrain Control Module Calibration PROGRAM TERMS This program will be in effect through August 31, 2014. There is no mileage limit for this program. AFFECTED VEHICLES Assembly Plant Year and Model Build Dates Michigan Assembly Plant 2013 C-MAX Job #1 through July 8, 2013

Very good posts in this thread. This is from Ford tech service regarding hybrid driving philosophy: The Hybrid is optimized to run the engine during acceleration from a stop, and to stop the engine during moderate speed cruising and during deceleration. Trying to accelerate the vehicle slowly in EV mode tends to drain the HVTB (high Voltage Traction Battery) which forces the engine to run during cruise, lowering fuel economy.

DRL / Daytime Running Lights (lamps)
ceemax71 replied to Hybrid dude's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors & Wipers
DRL is enabled by setting a programmable parameter in the BCM. The parameter apparently is not changeable through the IDS software. But, obviously there is a back door to getting access to the parameter since Phil1336 found a dealer that could do it. This is the description from the shop manual: Daytime Running Lamps (DRL) NOTE: The DRL is a programmable parameter for this vehicle. The DRL system utilizes the existing circuitry and components from the headlamp system and operates the low beam headlamps at a reduced intensity. The BCM monitors the ignition status, the headlamp switch and autolamp status. Based on the inputs, the BCM activates the DRL. The DRL are activated when the ignition is in RUN and the low beams have not been turned on by the autolamp system or the headlamp switch. -
Have you updated your Sync to version 3.62? Previous versions had issues with the size and/or content the contact list in the phonebook. It might help to disable auto download of the phonebook. See this thread.

First Screen Freeze! Woohoo!!!!!
ceemax71 replied to fishead924's topic in Audio, MyFord, Navigation & SYNC
Others have had similar problems with Sync. Read this thread. The ACM module seems to be sensitive to heat. -
The customer can use a flash drive to do the update if the C-Max was produced after 2/5/13 because it came from the factory with version 3.51. The customer cannot use a flash drive to do the update if it was produced on or before 2/5/13. However, if it was produced on or before 2/5/13 and the dealer has done the FSA 13A01 update to Sync version 3.51, then you should be able to do the update to 3.62 using a flash drive.

The 3.51 update cannot be done by the owner because it requires updating the power train control (PCM) module (which can only be done by the dealer). So, to update from SYNC 3.1.3 to 3.62, the dealer will have to do the update. The dealer will do the 13B07 fuel economy update to the PCM module when updating SYNC to 3.62.

The bulletin says the customer can call the Customer Relationship Center at 1-800-392-3673 (press 4) to inquire about eligibility and status regarding the goodwill payment. I tried the number but got a recording to call during regular business hours.
-
Since this is a "goodwill" payment by Ford, I would think that the vehicle would qualify for the payment if the window sticker still showed 47/47/47 MPG when the vehicle was delivered. You might want to hang onto your window sticker if that is the case.
-
Neither one of these outstanding field service actions require a trip to your dealer. 12M02 is the SYNC 5 year warranty extension. I believe it now provides free SYNC software updates if you do not want to do the update yourself. 13B10 is the goodwill payment which is supposed to be done by mail.
-
This is some information from the dealer bulletin for FSA 13B10: FSA 13B10 does not provide any vehicle modifications or software updates. It is the goodwill payment of $550 for retail customers who bought their vehicle and $325 for retail customers who leased their vehicle. The payments are estimated to be mailed directly to customers by the end of September. Goodwill payments to fleet customers will be handled by the Ford Fleet Sales Team. There is also another outstanding field service action (13B09) that is to have the dealer replace the window stickers on the unsold C-Max's still on the lot. The factory changed to the new window stickers (45 MPG City, 40 MPG Highway, 43 MPG Combined) on August 18, 2013

Checking MFT version from the car
ceemax71 replied to spkehl's topic in Audio, MyFord, Navigation & SYNC
If you got the 3.5.1 upgrade (from 3.13), they had to do a PCM update first. This was an earlier PCM update than the recent 13B07 fuel economy PCM update. The earlier PCM update was required to support the hybrid graphic screen that was added in 3.5.1. -
Checking MFT version from the car
ceemax71 replied to spkehl's topic in Audio, MyFord, Navigation & SYNC
The dealer needs to do the latest PCM update before they can do the update from MFT 3.13 to MFT 3.6.2. -
I agree.

Yes, this is the goodwill payment of $550/$325. (Edited on 24 Aug 2013) There is also another outstanding FSA 13B09 that is to have the dealer replace all of the C-Max window stickers on all of the unsold cars still on the lot.
