  1. CarpeNivem, If you decide to do the installation yourself, I suggest referencing the C-Max wiring diagrams. You can access the wiring diagrams with a paid subscription here. ($10.95 for 72 hours or $19.95 for 1 month for 2013 C-Max). The diagrams can be printed from the website. You also get access to the workshop manual and service bulletins.
  2. I think I have a net loss of complaints after buying the C-Max. I don't complain about rush hour traffic as much. :) Now my fuel efficiency jumps to over 50 MPG during rush hour rather than dropping below 20 MPG. :yahoo:
  3. Saw this note in the workshop manual regarding SYNC programming and the internet connection: NOTE: • The programming procedure deletes any phones that were paired with the SYNC® system. • To prevent timeout errors and to minimize programming time, a hardwired Internet connection is strongly recommended when programming. • A file of approximately 80 megabytes needs to be downloaded from the online database for the programming. Allow extra time for the file to download. • The diagnostic scan tool is required. Ensure that the IDS version and patch software levels are up to date. • Make sure the diagnostic scan tool is plugged into a power supply due to the length of programming time.
  4. Maybe a result of over-filling the gas tank?
  5. Good to see it helps. Ford re-issued these messages on OASIS again today: Jun 19 2013 6232 -2011-2013 Vehicles - MyTouch Functional Issues Due To Phonebook Content - Contact Volume. Some MyTouch equipped vehicles may experience multiple functional issues such as slow navigation calculations, displayed time jump or audio popping during initial ignition on cycle. These conditions can be created by the size of the contact list within the customer’s phone book. The amount of data within the contact list can create a processing problem for the module during a key on cycle. This can be resolved by limiting the number and/or content within the contact list. In addition, the automatic phonebook download feature can be set to off by selecting phone, settings, manage phone book, turn auto phone book off. Additional phone contacts can be added by manually re-downloading phone book in that same menu. Recommend following Workshop Manual section 415-00 for additional diagnostics and ensure a master reset is performed. Jun 19 2013 6229 -MyTouch Blank/Black Screen, Application Desktop.exe Error Message, Or System Reboot With Display Message Performing System Maintenance Some MyTouch equipped vehicles may exhibit a blank/black screen, Application Desktop.exe error message, or a system reboot with a screen display of Performing System Maintenance that occurs frequently. Unique characters stored in phonebook entries, or the phone's name, may be creating these condition. To restore system function, the customer’s phone must have all special characters/smiley face emoticons removed. Once all special characters/smiley face emoticons are removed from the phonebook and/or phone name, perform a Master Reset on the Accessory Protocol Interface Module (APIM), then repair the phone to the system. Engineering is currently investigating this condition. Monitor OASIS for updates.
  6. See this thread. And this thread. There are known issues that occur because of the size or content of the phonebook in the paired phone. I would suggest to do a master reset and re-pair the phone without loading the phonebook into SYNC to prove or disprove that the phonebook is the problem. If the phonebook is the problem, you might have to go through and remove any odd characters in the phonebook. I believe when a phone is first connected, SYNC has to build a database of all of the contacts, phone numbers, etc and their pronunciations to be able to support the voice recognition feature. If there is any odd data in the phonebook, SYNC will choke trying to figure out how the information will sound when spoken by the user.
  7. As part of collecting data for the health report, the engine has to be warmed up and running to read the various ICE parameters. So, that could cause the FE to drop.
  8. For the hybrids, the PCM (powertrain control module) is supposed to be reprogrammed to support the 3.5.1 upgrade. It is possible that the PCM got corrupted during the reprogramming process.
  9. The vehicle health report uses your cell phone to upload the report. Was your cell phone coverage adequate where you were at the time? I've done the VHR twice and it only took 15-20 seconds to complete. I didn't notice a change in FE.
  10. Take it to the dealer. They should be able to retrieve any diagnostics trouble codes to pinpoint the problem. There are too many possibilities to guess at what is wrong. Were there any 12 volt accessories plugged in at the time?
  11. I think the reason that some are having problems with the install and others are not is due to the complexity of the installation. According to the workshop manual, reprogramming the SYNC module (APIM) requires 17 steps which include installing a driver on the IDS diagnostic computer, configuring security settings in Internet Explorer, downloading more than 2 Gb of files, and time-comsuming installation steps. An experienced IT person would struggle with the update. I can only imagine how difficult it would be for a service tech that does not do this type of work every day.
  12. The delayed option keeps the camera view on the screen until the vehicle is moving forward above 6 mph. When it is disabled the camera view goes away as soon as the vehicle is shifted out of reverse.
  13. New OASIS broadcast message from Ford regarding MFT issues: Jun 05 2013 6155 -MyTouch Blank/Black Screen, Application Desktop.exe Error Message, Or System Reboot With Display Message Performing System Maintenance Some MyTouch equipped vehicles may exhibit a blank/black screen, Application Desktop.exe error message, or a system reboot with a screen display of Performing System Maintenance that occurs frequently. Unique characters stored in phonebook entries, or the phone's name, may be creating these condition. Once all special characters/smiley face emoticons are removed from the phonebook and/or phone name, perform a Master Reset on the Accessory Protocol Interface Module (APIM), then repair the phone to the system. Engineering is currently investigating this condition. Monitor OASIS for updates. There was a similar broadcast message issued on 3/29/13.
  14. That youtube video must be for a European C-Max. The US 2013 hybrid C-Max has the cabin air filter on the passenger side behind the glove compartment.
  15. Ask the service advisor look this up: May 29 2013 6132 -UPDATE – Supplement Announcement: Application Performance Upgrade 13A01 – Supplement #1 DEMONSTRATION / DELIVERY HOLD - Application Performance Upgrade 13A01 – Supplement #1 - Certain 2012-2013 Focus Electric, 2013 C-MAX Hybrid and C-MAX Energi, and 2013 Fusion Hybrid Vehicles Equipped with MyFord Touch® - Application Performance Upgrade.
  16. You're not missing anything (sorry). They links worked for me because I navigated to the reference guides through fordowner.com web page first. Apparently, you cannot go directly to the reference guides without first going through the fordowner.com website. The original post has been edited.
  17. If the above links don't work, you can also access them by going to Fordowner.com (link) and click on Owner's Manual and videos icon at the bottom of the page. Select 2013 Ford C-Max Hybrid and the "Find my vehicle" button (or enter your VIN). The new guide for the C-Max Hybrid is "Quick Reference Guide 3rd Printing" The new guide for the C-Max Energi is "Energi Quick Reference Guide 2rd Printing"
  18. More research needs to be done on this.
  19. New online Quick Reference Guides (pdf's) were released today for The C-Max hybrid and C-Max Energi. Go to Fordowner.com and click on the "Owner's Manual and Videos" icon on the bottom of the page. Select 2013 Ford C-Max Hybrid (or enter your VIN) and the "Find my vehicle" button. The new guide for the C-Max Hybrid is "Quick Reference Guide 3rd Printing" The new guide for the C-Max Energi is "Energi Quick Reference Guide 2rd Printing" The new guides have a few more topics and details and have been updated for MFT 3.5.1. (Edited to fix links)
  20. Screen calibration is done by going into the diagnostics mode: Turn the audio system on and set it to AM or FM mode Press and hold the eject button. Then within one second, press the "Seek up" button and hold for about 5 seconds. The diagnostics will start and do a walk-around speaker test by playing a tone in each speaker. You can cancel that and go into the main diagnostics menu. There is an option for screen calibration. I haven't done it, but I believe it prompts you to touch the screen in multiple locations to do the calibration.
  21. From the acronym thread: OASIS - On-line Automotive Service Information System OASIS is an online website (accessed at http://www.motorcraftservice.com) that provides information for service technicians/mechanics or for inquiring minds. It is only accessible by paid subscription, but the TSB and FSA broadcast messages from OASIS for all Ford vehicles can be seen here without a subscription. A few of us on this forum got a temporary subscription to view the C-Max shop manuals, wiring diagrams, and service bulletins to learn "whats under the hood" of the C-Max.
  22. FSA (Field Service Action) 13A01 was issued for Fusion hybrids on 4/22/13 for the MFT update. A supplement to FSA 13A01 was issued on 5/29/13 which added C-Max hybrids and C-Max Energi's to the FSA. A few people on this forum were informed of the update on 5/24/13 after inquiring about it at the dealer. This is the message that was broadcast on OASIS for the supplement: May 29 2013 6132 -UPDATE – Supplement Announcement: Application Performance Upgrade 13A01 – Supplement #1 DEMONSTRATION / DELIVERY HOLD - Application Performance Upgrade 13A01 – Supplement #1 - Certain 2012-2013 Focus Electric, 2013 C-MAX Hybrid and C-MAX Energi, and 2013 Fusion Hybrid Vehicles Equipped with MyFord Touch® - Application Performance Upgrade. They should be sending letters to owners about the update.
  23. You can get the power liftgate option without the hands-free option on the SE, SEL, & Energi. If you get the SEL or Energi 302A or 303A package, you get the power liftgate with hands-free option.
  24. If you have the "911 Assist" option enabled, it would be critical to have accurate coordinates. I would consider it a safety issue, as well. You can also see the GPS coordinates by going into the MFT diagnostics screen: Turn the audio system on and set it to AM or FM mode Press and hold the eject button. Then within one second, press the "Seek up" button and hold for about 5 seconds. Navigate to the GPS coordinates screen. This might indicate if the GPSM module is off or the "Where am I" screen software is not updating correctly.
  25. I have MFT with NAV. My "Where am I" screen shows latitude and longitude coordinates and it matches my I-phone coordinates within a few feet.
