  1. No picture, and it may just be my memory playing tricks, but . . . I am checking my Average Fuel Economy. I make my final check just before I shut down, like maybe a second or two, no more. Let's say it says 45. I shut down, and when the trip screen comes up, it shows something like 46.3. (No, this is not the Lifetime screen.) I scroll back and forth between Trip and Lifetime, just to make sure I am looking at the right screen. What is going on?
  2. Welcome aboard! Great to have experienced drivers like you here. :)
  3. It's likely designed for using one of the dedicated hot spot pucks that can plug-in to the USB port. Then, certain devices can potentially access both Internet and the C-MAX Intranet.
  4. That's a good price. I think I paid just under $100.
  5. I just located such an object on the passenger side of the rearview mirror, below the blacking at the top of the windshield. Before finalizing the location, I moved it so that is blocked from my line of vision by the mirror. All of this follows the directions provided in my unit. Remember, you do not want to put it behind the mirror on the driver's side, blocking the automatic rain sensor.
  6. It sounds to me like the authors of these sources are confusing carbon monoxide, CO, with carbon dioxide, CO2. CO comes from incomplete combustion from the ICE. Only if there is a leak in the exhaust path would there be any realistic consideration of what enters a healthy vehicle, not to mention that the C-MAX produces even less. CO2 is produced when the body consumes oxygen from the air we breathe. It's a waste product that we exhale with every breath. If the interior cabin is completely sealed, and no new air arrives into the cabin from outside, this would absolutely lead to hypercapnia, a build up of CO2 in the body that can be fatal at extremes. I am no engineer, but I am going to suppose that the cabin is not completely sealed to the point where this buildup occurs in our C-MAX. Otherwise, you could drive in deep water without it leaking in. I have no idea if the C-MAX introduces absolutely zero new outside air to the cabin when running on recirculate. So, there may already be something engineered into the air flow, even when with recirculate active, and it may already consider that there could be five occupants in the vehicle. To me, I would be a lot more concerned about exhaust fumes entering the cabin than I would about a build up of CO (unless you have exhaust issues or don't maintain your vehicle) or CO2. Hey, anything is possible, but I'd like to see confirmed reports of this happening in recent models cars that are moving down the roadway when this happened. (Reports of episodes involving people sleeping in running cars during snowstorms, etc. don't count.)
  7. My goal was to find something that could get at least 40 MPG-CITY, could hold all of my scuba equipment, and that had comfort and tech that I like. Even if I only got that for both city and highway, I'd still get the C-MAX.
  8. What is the secret to getting the battery up to just the right level? How long does it take to reach that level, assuming you started at about 35 percent?
  9. Any links to the numbers? Is there that much demand? Honestly, I can't imagine why the C-MAX is not more widely praised and in demand. I could see any techie in this car, and any Baby Boomer would love it for it's minimal environmental impact. There should be a good market for people that want something that is great on FE while being able to hold five passengers or a good amount of cargo for its size. Even higher end people who just want to be smart with their money should be a good match. While I think that the commercials have been cute, I wonder why Ford isn't going for marketing to each of the above in a more serious way, too. If I weren't looking for exactly this combo, the commercials wouldn't really grab me, because they really don't show off all of the great things about this special car.
  10. It's also available for Android. I downloaded it, but I never used it. I mostly relied on this Forum plus the videos from Ford and reading a PDF of the OM.
  11. Whatever may come, other than when I travel up north, I will always have the A/C on. So, you'll be able to hear about any long term effects from me.
  12. I always have my systems on recirculate. I've gone cross country and back, that way, but not yet in my not-even-a-week old C-MAX. If I am out in an area without many cars, I have occasionally allowed "fresh" air to come in. My problem comes when I forget to turn the control back to recirculate, and then I enter traffic. Talk about your CO! It is like putting the tailpipe of the car in front of you into the air intake. You get every bad odor, too. I guess it all depends on where you live and drive.
  13. Welcome aboard! Did you have a chance to see the oil or to find out how it looked when you changed it so early?
  14. Maybe the noise means that ours is on the way to failure? I don't even know if it is related to the A/C, but I have a noise that I think Jus made a video of and posted. I only hear it in EV with the window open.
  15. We must certainly give the Founding Fathers (and Mothers) their due. :worship:
  16. I would try turning off Max, turning on recirculate, changing the temperature to about 73F, and using the fan speed for a quick cool down while on ICE at initial power up. Once things start to cool down, back the fan down to what you see as workable. We have had particularly bad weather for this past week, but we did hit 87, and I left the C-MAX fully out in the cloudy sun for a number of hours. FE was not bad, and it cooled down pretty quickly, and I was then able to keep the fan on 4. I am an airconditioner-aholic, but with tinting and Oxford White with the light interior, it has not been so bad. Once it really heats up, I hope that it stays so quick to cool off. I did use the remote to lower the windows and do a start up, and that also helped a lot. However, the above information is what I did on a day where I did not use the remote start. Still playing around with what works best when. Hope this helps.
  17. The new Quick Reference Guide seems to clear it up. First, there is a button on the Ambient Light panel (overhead center of vehicle) that turns on all light including the ambient lights. Over the driver's door for Interior Lamps: Default: The lamps will switch on when you open any door, press a remote control button or press on the big button with the sun icon in the overhead control. Pressing the front small button with the door icon on it will disable the interior lamps when you open any door. The door function indicator lamp will illuminate yellow. Press again to turn the interior lamps back on. The indicator lamp will illuminate blue. Press the small button with the sun icon to switch all lamps on and off, apparently with doors closed, not including the ambient lighting.
  18. This is all consistent with what was happening. I'd close with the pad, pull the driver's door to double check, and then I'd try to check via the rear door.
  19. Yes, that's the noise! I only heard it when I was in EV with a window open, when I first started up. I haven't heard it when leaving, though I have my C=MAX for less than a week.
  20. Mine is one of those cars. It arrived with 113 miles--I think that's right--on it. I know that this is the case, because, after having a build date and becoming optimistic for the delivery date, it then took about two extra weeks for my new C-MAX to arrive. When I called for status, I was told that it was noted: "Hold for Quality Control." My dealer explained that the vehicle was pulled for in-depth random testing.
  21. One great thing about the C-MAX is that, given the driving range, it will be a while before I have to decide exactly how I am going to track the stats. ;)
  22. Sometimes, you have to make a stand. Sometimes, life is too short. If only I could figure out which to choose when. ;)
  23. I was playing with the Intelligent Access feature, and I have a question regarding locking and unlocking. If I close my driver's door, and I use the black square button, I can hear the C-MAX locking. The locks are pretty quiet. So, I decided to check the driver's side passenger door to make sure that all doors were locked. I pull the door handle, and the door is locked. However, right after that, I hear the door unlocking (I think all doors unlocked). So, I end out having to re-lock, and then I just go away without wanting to accidentally unlock the doors by testing again. Sure, I can always use the fob. However, I want to know all the different ways of C-MAX, and I want to use the ones that are best for me. So, what gives? Oh, on the good side: I hated how my last car had the requirement to hit the fob button twice to unlock all doors. I would always seem to hit the button once, put away the fob, and then I would have to dig it out again to open the hatch or back doors. I've already taken care of that by disabling that feature on the C-MAX. I bring this up, just in case anybody else wants all to unlock on the first tap.
