Consumer Reports news already posted here; http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/index.php?/topic/646-ford-hybrids-fall-short-of-fuel-claims-consumer-reports/

Whats even more interesting is the Consumer Reports test that show the Prius and Prius C not hitting their combined EPA average. The Prius was 6 miles below EPA and the Prius C was 7 miles below EPA? That completely contradicts the Fuelly data, if you believe CR.
-
You really should track your results on Fuelly, helpful to everyone.

They are, I don't usually see much variation in summer, winter, or even driving style in mpg. Too bad there is a 20% price difference between D2 and RUG and VW products are so problem prone. My VW was still more reliable than my previous Toyota\Lexus.

Ford hybrids fall short of fuel claims-Consumer Reports

Make & model CR overall mpg EPA combined mpg Difference Ford C-Max SE 37 47 10 Ford Fusion Hybrid SE 39 47 8 Toyota Prius C Two 43 50 7 Toyota Prius 44 50 6 Honda Civic Hybrid 40 44 4 Infiniti M35h 25 29 4 Lexus ES 300h 36 40 4 Buick LaCrosse (4-cyl., eAssist) 26 29 3 Honda Insight EX 38 41 3 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid 33 36 3 Lexus RX 450h 26 29 3 Lexus CT 200h 40 42 2 Toyota Camry Hybrid XLE 38 40 2 Chevrolet Tahoe Hybrid 19 20 1 Toyota Highlander Hybrid 27 28 1 Toyota Prius V Three 41 42 1 Chevrolet Malibu Eco 29 29 0 Honda CR-Z EX (manual) 35 34 -1 I am suspect of these results given the real world results of the Sonata Hybrid reported by owners and my own tests. CR also reported getting better C-Max FE in highway driving and worse in the city, completely opposite of what everyone on here and Fuelly is reporting?? Stil the first comparative analysis I have seen. -
My TDI also has a small electric heater in the dash to supplement until the diesel can produce enough waste heat for the cabin.

http://green.autoblog.com/2012/12/04/november-alt-fuel-sales-stay-solid-with-higher-ford-c-max-nissa/ In fact, Toyota's leadership may have been dented by Ford and its rapid alt-fuel vehicle sales growth. The US automaker almost tripled year-earlier alt-fuel vehicle sales to 7,157 units. Ford's C-Max Hybrid has emerged as by far the company's biggest alt-fuel seller, outpacing sales of the competing Toyota Prius V to total 3,589 units and becoming the second-best selling US hybrid to the Prius hatchback version. And in its first full month of sales, the C-Max Energi PHEV sold 1,259 units, compared to the 1,766 units sold of the Prius Plug-in (which took the top plug-in vehicle spot in the US last month), while Fusion Hybrid sales almost doubled from a year earlier to 1,834 units. Even the Focus Electric had its best-ever month, with sales of 172 vehicles.

I can't say whats causing the 25% of all reported Prius V drivers to get below the EPA combined mpg and it wouldn't be fair for me to speculate why. Possibly some other defect with those models? I know when my Lexus IS stated getting poor fuel economy I had a fuel leak and later Toyota issued 2 recalls for defective fuel pumps.
-
I agree completely with those findings. I don't have a way to test the mpg claims personally because my wife drives the C-Max 5 days of the week. When I drive EPA ratings are easy to achieve and exceed based upon dash readings. I have corrected for dash error. : )

This thread does seem to duplicate whats already been posted in other threads.

One person did look up CR Prius test. I would like to point out that CR's Prius city MPG is only 32, not near the 51 MPGs that the EPA sticker has. That is only 63% of the EPA city value. CR did exceed the EPA highway figure for the Prius and get 88% of the overall EPA MPG. If after break in the Fords get about 41 MPG overall, that would put them at about the same MPG percentage as the Prius.
-
Nothing personally. I site Prius examples as an established hybrid reference point for comparison of data.

vehicles mpg 24 41 17 40 14 39 6 38 7 37 2 36 2 35 -------------------- 55 55/212 = .25 or 1/4 Point was that is not a small amount getting below the EPA combined mpg. Are you currently or formerly a Prius owner?

Thanks for the link, Consumer Reports had some interesting response from these owners. http://news.consumerreports.org/cars/2012/12/owners-report-fords-latest-hybrids-dont-live-up-to-47-mpg-claims.html

I can visualize all the service visits that would generate. :)
-
29% or almost 1/3 of all the reported Prius V get below the 42 combined EPA, thats not a small percentage.
-
In some of the lower than EPA Prius drivers the notes reveal sustained higher than 60 mph highway miles.

I observe this truth everyday on my way to and from work.

Tesla and the Chevy Volt were built from the ground up with batteries designed into the chassis. The hybrid components were added on to the C-Max design for the North American market.

You may already know this but selecting the Empower display option will give you the amount of max pedal application to remain in EV.
