  1. I call them "sucker fish". No matter what speed you do, they will stick to your bumper.
  2. I have mine stored as a PDF in my iBook app on my phone so no download needed. NICE! My metal keys were in a plastic baggy in the glovebox. Ideally they should be in a folder inside the dealership along with the nav chip, owners manual, other fob, etc.
  3. I can max out the battery on level ground with big doses of heavy regen from high speeds. Yes, rest assured the engineers have accounted for this. Use the Engage screen to watch how they do it.
  4. Update: 39.5 Hmmm. At this rate of increase, I'm thinking 40.x before the end of the month. :happy feet:
  5. I just found out there is an episode tonight 9pm ET with a repeat at 11. Promo says, "The MythBusters also hit the road to test three more hypermiling myths. Can these simple techniques really double your car's fuel efficiency? 1. Driving slower 2. Removing the sideview mirrors 3. avoid the brakes
  6. I think we should hear a final announcement by lunchtime PCT!
  7. The claim that running a tank low is bad because of fuel sediment at the bottom of tank not thought through. The fuel pump pickup/inlet is at the lowest point of the tank. Much like a straw in a drinking glass, the car always gets its fuel from the bottom of the tank. There is some credence to this if a lot of water is present since water is heavier than fuel. Internal fuel pumps are cooled by the fuel running through them not what is surrounding them. For example, the fuel pump in my motorcycle is above the fuel line and in the air by around the 3/4 mark. IOW, it spends more time above the fuel supply than under it. FWIW
  8. I've seen it once but I don't pay the infotainment screen much attention when I power down. I'm either pre-occuppied or looking at the left display FE info.
  9. Well you juuuuuuust made it into the 50+ club but that's highly impressive given the length of the trip and on e10 regular. CONGRATS!
  10. Anything is possible. The Chevy Volt had some early issues with DBS (dead battery syndrome) that were eventually linked to continuing a cell phone conversation after powering down the car. It seems the bluetooth link stayed active and searching after the driver left the vehicle. Next morning; dead 12v battery. Firmware patch fixed it.
  11. If you have an inclined driveway, you point the car down the grade so when it's up on the ramps it will be level. I do this when changing out manual transmission fluid which have side drains that require a level vehicle for a proper fill level. PITA method: ramps on the front and jackstands on the back. Mobil 1 0w-20 also meets the newer, higher 954-A standard. I'm going to try it at 10K. Currently using dealer filled mobil 1 5w-20. TIP: if you run higher air pressures, tell them you want to keep them at those levels or they will put them back to factory spec.
  12. FTFY ;) I'm not holding my breath either mtnmarty but we can always hope for an unexpected Christmas present this winter (fall release).
  13. Yup what they said: Tint, wind shade and good mats. Weather wise, I can't really justify the weather/husky type and have found the typical heavy duty mats (deep ribs) sold in auto-parts, walmart, etc work fine. Sounds like it's going to be a great birthday! :happy feet:
  14. Living on the coastal plains, I haven't had to deal with hills and a full battery so I have only read about this phenomena. I haven't been reading the energi forum so here's a link to one for the plug-in prius: http://priuschat.com/threads/full-battery-downhill-engine-start-is-a-pain.105663/ It looks like the ICE is spun but no fuel is burned. So, if one determines how many kW's regen will put back in the battery, you could stop the home charger early, save a few bucks, and let the hill finish filling the battery.
  15. Over they years, we've made more than a couple of move decisions based heavily on commuting distance/fuel costs.
  16. This is actually an issue for plug-in owners that live at the top of hills. If they leave with a full charge, the ICE comes on to burn off excess charge because the downhill regen can't go back into a full battery.
  17. Update #4: Three days ago, I drove through a very strong thunderstorm with heavy rains: lots of standing water on roadways, expressway traffic slowed to 30mph, wipers on max, etc. No issues next morning. Yesterday, power washed with extra time spent on the fog light/grill areas on purpose. No issues this morning.
  18. I have to admit, I've driven around just cuz........ :shift:
  19. Is one of those friends named Anthony Crispino? http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xzsvhw_saturday-night-live-weekend-update-anthony-crispino_fun#.UbTfIZXXe04 :hysterical:
  20. I think you just had a false start by pushing the start button too quickly before the brake pedal. I seem to manage one of those about once a week; usually in the morning when I haven't had enough coffee. :hysterical:
  21. Possible. Thanks to your bringing this up, I now realize I'll need to flip my parking placard in front during installation because the auto-wiper black sensor obstructs a view of the card from the outside. That's enough of a reason for the parking nazi's. :rant2:
  22. In this procedure, the car is in accessory mode not run and it is drive by wire. There is no physical connection from the gas pedal to the engine. The first time I floored a hybrid with the brakes on and the car in run mode was freaky. It did nothing because the battery was full. The second time was with a low battery and it eventually rev'ed up for what is referred to as a "force charge". :shift: Haven't tried this in the 'max yet.
  23. Short answer: it won't. It's a hybrid not an EV.
  24. Pics without CMax=no proof. Sorry! :waiting: :)
