  1. Nice find! Thanks for sharing. Just rear liftgate update for me.
  2. The best time to trade in a hybrid is when gas prices are through the roof. Other than that, there is never a good time to trade in you're better off selling it yourself. Yeah I know, not always easy to do.
  3. Ditto. I do my own normal maintenance and use full synthetic which with filter cost me around $30-35 but that coupon special even with a syn. blend would be pretty tempting. I did take my dealer up on their free first oil change and was very happy to see them use mobil 1 instead of the motorcraft blend. I gave them high marks on the phone call survey from Ford. My Prius offered a 2yr free maintenance plan but I didn't use it primarily due to time/distance from the out of town dealer plus the number of reports from forum members around the country of overfilled oil levels, cheap non-syn oil used, underinflated tires, pressure for services not covered under the plan, etc. And I truly enjoy doing the work.
  4. Have you tried moving the temp up one degree from "low"?
  5. The Honda Civic Hybrid has used nearly solid wheels for many years. Bolting on a used set of those has been an eco-mod for the non-hybrid civic owners looking for easy mpg's.
  6. "gasoline loses pressure over time, pockets of air enter the space before the dispenser's nozzle. The longer a pump sits unused, the more likely it could affect a given quantity of fuel." "The data showed 721 pumps measured short, 209 of which were short by more than 6 cubic inch per five gallons, and another 127 were short by more than 12 cubic inches per 5 gallons. Records indicate that during inspections, 366 Houston-area pumps failed for pump jumping." "The same thing happened to loan officer David Fernandez when he pulled into a San Antonio Valero last December, estimating he had about half a gallon of fuel left. "I have a 20-gallon tank so, realistically, I figure I probably should have put in 19-and-a-half," he said. Instead? "I pumped in over 22 gallons." http://www.chron.com/news/houston-texas/article/Think-the-gas-pump-is-wrong-You-may-be-right-3588193.php
  7. Preaching to the choir here (former Prius owner). LOL After a lot of research and shopping, it came down to a decision between the V and the 'Max. Price ended up about the same so features, performance, and dealers were the deciding factors.
  8. Yes, that indicates no energy, either in or out, is being transferred but it's damn near impossible to achieve and maintain with the throttle alone.
  9. I'm finding the number of folks on this forum who have to make trades or special order from the factory astounding. In fact, I'm now thinking how lucky I was to find the color combination, trim level, AND option package I wanted sitting two cars away on the lot from the demo I test drove. The fact that it was fresh off the transporter and only had about 20 miles on it made it even sweeter but the icing on the cake? Since it was so fresh, they hadn't slapped on one of their gaudy, fake chrome plastic dealer appliqué's on the hatch that I would have had to remove when I got home! :woot: Read the forum while you wait so you'll be ready to go when it arrives. Here's the owners manual on-line: http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/topic/1603-on-line-owners-manual/ This will save you A LOT of time when the salesdroid struggles to show you some features. Once you correct them and tell them you've all ready read the manual, they'll get the picture! :camera: :)
  10. NICE! Hybrids love stop/go traffic. While others are idling away needlessly and using up their brakes, the CMax is moving silently along on EV or regen'ing back into the batt. One almost looks forward to traffic jams. NAW, who am I kidding? :nonono: But at least the efficiency makes it a little more bearable.
  11. Nor will you get regen in Nuetral. As a former prius owner, I can say the CMAX it's much harder to discern when feathering the throttle puts you in a glide. Like recumpence, I try to get the EV display activated with the blue power bar just barely showing.
  12. Although it's really all we've got, I have little confidence in fuelly since it's self reported. For example, this CMax entry http://www.fuelly.com/driver/jpunt/cmax has one tank at 3.7mpg. Yes three point seven. Obviously the guy misplaced a decimal but why he doesn't correct it is beyond me. :headscratch: Uggh, this one is worse, way worse: http://www.fuelly.com/driver/gmtrainer/cruze
  13. OK this isn't a Trip Summary display and thus violates the spirit of this thread. This is the AVG meter which I reset before leaving the garage and included my morning commute, noon errands and lunch, and the afternoon commute. Total distance was approx. 50-55 miles. Aircon set to auto/74f. This was my first time to break the 50mpg barrier for the entire day! I'm beginning to think the car really, really likes warm weather. (understatement)
  14. It was taken in Australia. :camera: :hysterical:
  15. First of all, thanks Snow for the correction on the math. I knew my simple averaging wasn't the best way to do it but it's been WAY too long to remember the formula(s). Second, I philosophically disagree with the concept that trip summary pics don't serve a meaningful purpose or are intentionally misleading. Many of my submissions ARE round trips regardless of the length as I don't necessarily have to turn my car off when, for example, dropping/picking up my kids, drive-thru pickups, etc. My entry in post #95 of this thread was submitted to show folks that even cold start trips can surpass 50. That's my entire morning commute leg. How is that misleading? It's real world results. As I've pointed out towards the beginning of this thread, the average trip in the US is around 10-13 miles. Toyota is even using this data to help justify the the EV range of its plug-in Prius. If that doesn't conform to your definition of what a normal trip length is so be it. Being in Arizona, like me here in Texas, our concepts of distance can be a little skewed. LOL Well we're dealing with the limitations of the C-Max trip summary display. If you'd like, you could reset trip1 or 2 before your trip and show that. :camera:
  16. I did. Thought I would go frugal as best I could with a used 4 cylinder 5 speed Camry. That lasted about 6 months before I bought another hybrid but at least I flipped it for +2K profit. :yahoo:
  17. The satisfaction of a a job well done! ;) Even including the low return leg you still netted 67mpg combined!
  18. Well, I should have clarified. It will ramp up to full blast IF the temperature difference is great enough.
  19. Yeah, I've had the same issue primarily with the left one; right is OK. I hoped window tint would solve it and it did reduce it some but not enough. I might go the plastic dip or vinyl route in case the company owner (me) doesn't like it.
  20. ^ This. On my daily route, I have a couple of straights that vary in length from 1-3 miles at 55-70mph. I had been trying to get a max batt before these straights in hopes of getting the high ICE mode to kick in but after several tanks with OK results I decided to try the above. Now with some forethought, I can drain the batts in EV and use the periods when I need to either accelerate, going up grades, or cruise hwy speeds to recharge. I've seen as high a 5mpg increase on each commute leg and currently netting a +3 on the overall tank even though I have more overall hwy miles on it due to a couple of out of town trips. I think these daily straights are just too short for any meaningful high ICE results. As always, YMMV.
  21. Well prices have been coming down but that's pretty darn low. Most likely they had plenty of pad in the deal to make up the diff. Plus, they could be installing it in-house and cutting out the middle man. For instance, my local ford dealer charges $299 for window tint whereas the glass company that actually does it for them charged me $125! I just got a clear bra kit in today that I'll be applying this weekend. It was about $200 for the front bumper kit and hood kit plus door edges thrown in for "free" and this was 3M product. I found out about it on this thread: http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/topic/1958-invisible-bra-and-deck-protection-and-more/
