  1. Wouldn't the car know once you got to it? Is the key-type (master/slave) created at the time the car is started?
  2. So if the Master Key starts the car, and the Slave Key gets in to drive it, there's a potential that the car will default to the Master for it's MyKey setting?
  3. Right, that's what I was saying on how it functions. I don't understand why it requires you to unlock the car with the key fob. The doors stay locked until you operate the handle like normal. Seems ridiculous to make me pull my keys out again. My question was if the Ford OEM system also makes you unlock the doors with the key fob or if that was something unique to my after market system.
  4. That's what I thought. SIGH, guess the car goes back again.
  5. Do you do studies of each type of car to find the best placement of the pods?
  6. When I plug my iPhone 4S into the bottom USB port, it recognizes my phone and will charge it. Nothing happens with the top port - is that normal?
  7. I figured that the car would stay locked until you walked up to it and grabbed the handle if you had your Ford key on your person, just like normal, otherwise the car is locked and the door wouldn't open.
  8. Update: after telling the service guy that I'd rather have the alarm pulled and the Ford bi-directional remote start installed, he had the stuff ordered and ready to come in. Dropped off the car and they "fixed" the alarm+RS module. The way it works is that I double tap the trunk button on the aftermarket key fob and the car starts. Then after the car is started, I have to hit the 'unlock' button on the aftermarket key fob; if I don't use the unlock button the car shuts off or goes into alarm when I open a door. Does the Ford module work this way? It seems to be pointless to have a keyless entry on the car if I have to pull out the key fob again to open the doors.
  9. My EV locations got reset when the alarm guy did the alarm install.
  10. Is that like visiting the Genius Bar at an Apple store?
  11. Have you never inserted the nozzle and have it kick off unless you back it out of the filler neck of the car? I thought it was a common problem. Happens to me almost everywhere.
  12. Even this is sketchy because, as we know, some dispenser nozzles don't play that well with the capless gas tank and you have to find the spot where the nozzle doesn't shut off.
  13. Have you had any work done lately? My recent alarm+remote start install bricked my cruise control, and I got the warning wrench.
  14. Hmm. That's no good; I'll have to verify with the dealer. Thanks.
  15. Have a link to the spreadsheet?
  16. If I get the FE update before the MFT update, I'll have to specify I don't want it. I have issues with getting too many technological updates all at one time in anything I own.
  17. Do you think they'll require 3.5.1 to get the FE update? I hope not.
  18. Holy crap, I must have missed this feature in the manual. Is there some definitive test of this I can do to listen to the difference as I drive?

    Memory Seats?

    Can you link the video?
  20. Some Focus models came with that feature. I wonder if the modules that control that are swappable to our cars?
  21. Thanks, zhackwyatt, for the info. So while the bidirectional kit comes with 1 keyfob, can I buy another one and program it to work?
  22. More like a crazed religious zealot.
  23. Thanks, that's good info. I may just go ahead and have them downgrade it to RS only. I'd like to keep it as OEM as possible considering the involvement with the car's system it has. What's the difference between the two units?
