  1. They only replaced one on my CMAX, go jack up the car and see what happens. It doesn't look like a tough job. Check eBay and other Auto Parts stores. Paul
  2. Our CMAX's have generators in the trans and the Invertor. I think you are right about charging the 12v batt. from under the hood. :) Paul
  3. That's what I would do. CV6Z-1104-F or Motorcraft number HUB220 will be your part number, around $137 Good Luck Paul
  4. It could be wheel bearing, I had a rear wheel bearing replaced when mine was pretty new. I suspect car haulers tighten cars down to tight and damage bearings. Paul
  5. Well it isn't coming from HVB Fan so next the front vents and tubing. Paul
  6. Appears to be coming from HVB Fan Ducting and shows up after the HVB warms up some. Maybe this weekend I can tear it apart. Paul
  7. I sniffed all over inside of MADMAX and changed cabin filter, narrowed the smell to HVB cooling tubing/fan. I have to tare more stuff apart to get inside for a look to see what is going on. :headscratch: Has anyone else noticed this problem? Paul
  8. Steadily going down. Maybe now our CMAX's will start to be worth more . :) No real replacement on the horizon yet. :headscratch:  Paul
  9. From the standpoint of the ICE, the CMAX is way over cooled, I use Grill Covers all year around. It would put more stress on the trans, probably not a temp problem. As far as the inverter goes, not sure you can change the amount of use of charging and discharging than normal. :) I think trans stress would be the main problem. Paul
  10. I checked locally on 100 octane street legal which has some ethanol in it which goes for over $10/ gal ouch! :drop: cheaper to get ethanol free at $3/gal and add Octane Booster. :) Paul
  11. I think changing oil every 4 months is over kill, I think once a year would be fine. Grill Covers will also help warm up the ICE quicker. I'm currently going 15K ICE miles( 30K Odometer mi.) between oil changes and my last BlackStone Labs Report was my best and I have 186K miles now. :) Paul
  12. I have tested this before using ScanGaugeII you can watch the ECM advancing the timing until it detects knocking and retards a little bit. I have seen it go over 40 degrees with high Octane Gas, I have used octane booster to improve MPG's more. I think it added about 2 octane more to a tank, maybe 1 mpg. :) Pure Gas seems to get a little better MPG's than Premium not much, but adding Octane Booster definitely helps. It is also a injector cleaner too. :) It cost about $10 at Walmart. Paul
  13. So do CMAX owners. :) It may not be totally cost effective, but I like the extra range. :) Join fuelly.com to keep track of your mileage. BTW Odometer is off by 1.6 to 2.2% so you can check with GPS , you will be getting better mpg's than you think. Paul
  14. It's just a aerodynamic part and 2013 didn't have it, I installed them on mine, but one fell off and I haven't replaced it yet. Paul
  15. They were drafting. LOL Some people are just followers, I have seen this driving on State Routes with 55 mph speed limits and I would speed up to 50 mph and EV down to 35 mph which you would think would be very irritating yet people would follow you, strange. :headscratch: Paul
  16. The more aerodynamic and stylish cars get the less room to make changing lights easy. After taking the two screws out of headlight assembly I couldn't figure out why it wouldn't come out. :headscratch: With help of flat head screwdriver I figured it out. :) Changed cabin filter at the same time, another annoying job. Paul
  17. Had to replace left front turn signal light which is relatively easy to do if the manual told you that after you remove the two screws to remove headlight assembly there is also a plastic square nipple that sticks out underneath the plastic by top screw hole. That you need to lift up to be able to remove headlight assembly. I had to get blade screw driver to lift up plastic to release headlight assembly and access turn signal opening. One of the connecting terminals had worn down from vibrations. :headscratch: Paul
  18. I believe with my mods on MADMAX I have a better CD than the FFH and close too, maybe better than new Prius looking at Fuelly averages for 2016/7 52.2/50.5 mpg considering Prius's smaller ICE should be more efficient. I think my Fuelly average is about 52 mpg for the last 50k miles. :) Paul
  19. Couple of days ago we made our usual trip up to North Atlanta to see New Grandson up I-85/I-285. It's about 50 miles each way, temps 77*F going up, AC on half of the time Wife was getting hot. :) Speeds were 80 mph to stop and go for accident , took about 15 min. longer than usual, started with 56 mpg on tank average ended with 55.9mpg. Going Home temps down to 70*F, speeds 75 mph to 60 mph and ended with 56.1 mpg, sure is nice to have warmer temps. :) My MPG's HWY are only a few mpg less than City. :yahoo: BTW You Tube views are up to 5,600 and hopefully CMAX/FFH MPG's will be going up on fuelly.com. this Summer. :) Paul
  20. GordieT you need to make Grill Covers. :) For the last 50k mi. I have averaged 53.3 mpg on my Smart Trip Gauge so that means 52.3 mpg actual (fuelly.com mileage). On my Life Time mileage is 1 mpg better than actual fuelly mileage for 185k mi. Paul
  21. I think the Escape Hybrid is replacing CMAX, won't get the MPG's and I thought they were coming out with Focus Hybrid. CMAX covered both of those bases. :) It will be interesting to see if they can get better than 52 mpg that I have been averaging for 50k mi. on my #2 trip gauge(about a year and an half). :) Paul
  22. If you find a 2013 that has had the trans replaced already that's great, problem solved. Warranty is 8yrs/100k mi. which ever comes first and don't to transfer the warranty when you get it. Most trans won't fail, but ones that have been used for mostly FWY driving are more problematic. We love our CMAX's, I have 185k mi. on mine. :) Paul
  23. The reason Hybrids and Electrics where sold at all was they raise the overall average FE of the whole FORD fleet to meet EPA FE requirements. :headscratch: Paul
  24. Having driven both hybrids I think the CMAX is more roomy especially with the higher ceiling and the seating position in more comfortable on long trips, like driving to and from SF( 5000 mi. in 8 days). I noticed FFH got 1 mpg better on HWY, but CMAX got 1 mpg better City. I had the FFH for 3 weeks so not a real high precision test, but works for me. :) BTW tires can make a big difference in MPG, 2-5 MPG's. My Daughter lost 3 mpg on her Prius going to Cooper LRR and I gained 5 mpg from going from Pirelli P6 to GoodYear Fuel Max on my Focus. :) Paul
  25. It could be the tires in that the Michelin's get the best MPG's, anything else gets less as in the FFH case. :) Paul
