  1. Congrats on the new car! Glad they worked it out for you.
  2. It would be tight and I would think the front seats would have to move forward too. Even then I don't think I would want to try it.
  3. I liked the idea of the plug in but storage was the issue for me too. The higher cost was part of this too but it sounds like it is cheaper for used Energy models now? Seems strange? The Hybrid was a nice compromise that worked for me.
  4. I get this too. It started for me after they updated the software for the 12v battery drain issue. I think it was part of the fix to make sure the system shuts down when the car is not in run mode.
  5. Very good tips but the 12V issue also applies to SEL's. Just don't want someone to think that getting a SEL eliminates the problem. The magnitude of the issue per trim level is very debatable but it is well documented that it does happen to both the SE and SEL.
  6. Wow, you guys are tough.
  7. OK, I am not a 1 tank run on empty type of guy but I am hoping that long term results from Fuelly will get me in the club?
  8. OUCH. Fuel pump in the tank? I think that is pretty standard today.
  9. Congrats. I just use the standard lug nuts. Not too worried about it. There is also a lot of info on here for floor mats and spare tire options. I bought the Husky mats and like them for winter use. Did you get any options on your SE?
  10. One way is just go to a post from her and click on the logo. It will take you to the Ford team page. There is a button there to send a message.
  11. Maybe someone at Ford could look at the old seal and get an idea what the failure mode was? Could be a lot of reasons including being damaged while installing. This cost Ford a lot of money too and they don't want to replace this every 5 months either. Maybe the third time will take care of it? Does not seem to be a common issue on this car so far. Good luck.
  12. I have a friend who has one. Nice car but I am kind of a big guy and I have a hard time getting in and out of this with the low roof. I tried a few times but now we just take the C-Max if we go out with them somewhere.
  13. I never thought I would see this post on here. Clearly the C-Max is the winner here. No comparison at all! We were talking about fuel economy, weren't we? :dancing:
  14. Glad everything worked out ok. I remember hearing on the news some years ago that there are ~22,000 car / deer accidents each year here in Michigan. I would have never guessed it was that high. I was in one my self about 10 years ago. I see them crossing the road every now and then.
  15. I also agree with this. There are power losses converting from D/C to A/c and then back from A/C to D/C. I had a boat and we always tried to look at power draw. Tried to make the batteries last when at anchor. We used a laptop and bought a dc to dc converter. Much better way to go for power draw. This is just a cigarette lighter plug so you can then take it to any car. This was a converter made for the laptop. Was not that costly. Thinking $40 or so.
  16. Glad it is under warranty for you. Hope they fix it this time
  17. Resale values generally are not very good for Ford's or a lot of American cars for that matter. But I also think that trade in is generally not good at any dealer. Even my Scion xB was only worth about 50% of it's value after a few years. I was offered $2500 for the xB on trade for the C-Max and they told me they really did not want it because it was a stick. Sold it myself for $4000 to the first person that saw it. For 135K miles on it I was happy with that. Almost 10 years old and I paid less than $16k for it. Cars take a big hit in the first few years. Less of an issue over time.
  18. Awesome. Glad you like it. Mine is just over a year too but I have had some issues. I like mine a lot too and look forward to every drive. Even the best cars have issues. To me as long as they take care of them then I am happy. I think it is great that Ford is also on this site. I used it once and talked to a local rep. It was a good experience. Had to do this too with Toyota. It was not as smooth. No rep at all on line. Good job Ford!
  19. We will have to wait and see but Ford is working on a new hybrid. The questions I see is: Is the new car going to be called the C-Max? Is it going to be sold along side the C-Max? I think it will replace it but that is just a guess. I hope to don't lower the car to be like a Prius. I like the height even if I loose some FE.
  20. Did you see this post? http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/topic/5242-ford-to-end-c-max-production-at-michigan-plant/?hl=mexico
  21. It has been years but I worked in a service station years ago. Maybe things have changed but the repairable area shown in the link is what I remember for tire patches. A tire patch could have issues in the area of your repair due to the flexing of the tire in this area. We would only use a plug in that area so your repair is what we would have recommended back then. I also remember plugs getting really really good to and kind of became more common in all areas of the tire. This was something like 25 years ago and yes I am 29 now. I was the best 4 year old tire repair boy around ;)
  22. I wish the process was smoother too. It is far from perfect but this is a good example of how additional features can give Ford a bad name. If Ford did not offer an upgrade path then there would be no issue. Because there is and it is not working correctly it is looked upon as a big negative. They are not given much credit for offering an upgrade path. I have never had a car that offered an upgrade path. My last car was made by Toyota and is highly rated. I did have my share of issues with it but it was a good car. i think many of the new head units in the new Toyota's are still non-upgradable units. I could be wrong here but I don't think it is a standard feature. My Chevy truck is the same way. This stereo blows the doors off of both these systems. I hope you don't think I am attaching your post. You have a right to have it work correctly. Just showing another way to look at this.
  23. The chances of death from an accident go up too at higher speed. They are looking at increasing speed from 70 to 80 MPH here. I think it is too fast but many are going way faster than 80 now. Same issue when it was 55 MPH here. Avg speed just seems to keep climbing.
  24. Good tips I also try to drain the battery before parking it if I can. I also try to keep the RPM down when it is cold. When the ICE first comes on it will not charge the battery until it warms up a little and the load from acceleration is lower. I will try to let up on the accelerator to get it to start charging then accelerate a little. Too much and it will stop charging again until it warms up more. I also try to keep the RPM around 2000 in the morning. Takes longer to charge and accelerate but it also warms up ICE better. I leave for work very early so I am usually the only car on the road. I also try to keep the cabin heat off and just use the seat heaters until the engine temp comes up. Not sure if this really saves much but it helps some.
