In reality, I think the status checker is only useful if you buy a used car and the previous owner did not update the website when a newer version of software was installed. Or if the dealer forgot to do it. I think (although I'm not 100% sure) but running a VHR will also update the website w/ the correct version of sync that you have. Since the car came out of the factory and has not had any previous owners, what the website shows as the current version is most probably accurate. Have fun w/ your adventures!

I've done it and you can, but it doesn't take too long to run. After it's done it puts a file on the flash drive that you have to take back to the website that will verify that the "update" was done correctly. I think the Sync Status Checker is basically a fake update that writes the current version of the software to the flash drive just like a real update would. You then load that onto the website.
-
I don't think that's how it works. The sync status tool just makes sure that the website knows what the correction version of software you are running. Assuming the website has the correct information about your car it will automatically display when a new update is available. Someone could update the car w/o reporting to the website that the update was successful, thereby making them out of sync.

You and I have had this discussion a few times. What I can't understand is how our experiences are so different. Could you have a hardware problem? Has your dealer replaced the GPS module? Maybe the Sync module should be replaced too. As long as you are not exaggerating in your post, but 10 mins to figure out a redraw w/ an overpass, locking up every other day....my experiences are 180.

Doesn't bother me. Good tint with glare reduction and polarized sun glasses. -
Automatic Climate Control always on with car start
zhackwyatt replied to Hatchman's topic in Maintenance, TSB's & Recalls
Mine goes full blast for A/C (takes only a couple seconds to get cold air). For heating it waits for the car to warm up before starting the fan. -
Automatic Climate Control always on with car start
zhackwyatt replied to Hatchman's topic in Maintenance, TSB's & Recalls
I had a similar experience when I switched the Remote Start to the bi-directional system. The dealer didn't reprogram the new one completely and the Climate was doing odd things. Took both keys to them so they could reset something completely and it solved the problem. Now the climate always starts to what it was when I turned the car off. -

Brake Regen Threshold Display?

If you add the arrows to the battery display (called Charge Assist and Charge Level (or something along those lines I don't have the car in front of me)) then then you will see that when you let your foot off the gas, the battery does charge. The spinning arrows do not show up. Those only show up when pressing the brake. So, applying brakes does add more charge than gliding in Drive. -
Your right, I shouldn't have said 'will take'.

Last production run for California was Dec. 19th?

There may not be different options (although someone did mention a change to the remote start options) but there could be tweaks to the software and other things in the car. -
It uses Sirius for traffic. The routing is done internally by the computer. The maps are provided by NavTeq I think, although I'm not 100% on that. You can also get traffic through Sync Services btw, but thats more of a phone call and does not display that info on the map. Only traffic provided by Sirius is displayed on the map.

I can't speak the the 2014, but for the 2013 only the Energi had the factory installed remote start. The SE and SEL required the dealer installed option. I personally prefer the dealer installed Bi-directional one as it's longer range and you get confirmation that the car started.

I think it's also important to have UV protection, especially if you don't have good tint that blocks the UV rays.

Michelin doesn't recommend 51, that's the max they will take. You will lose grip with them being so high. http://www.popularmechanics.com/cars/how-to/saturday-mechanic-blog/finding-correct-tire-pressure

Higher gas prices affect as all regardless if some of us don't drive at all. That's how stuff gets to stores! -
Dead 12 Volt: Water in Electrical Connectors
zhackwyatt replied to salman's topic in Maintenance, TSB's & Recalls
Well we definitely know there is a problem w/ the display in the SE. (Non MFT). The water in connectors could explain some of the remaining problems with the others. It's very likely the display covered the largest percentage of dead batteries, but there are several reasons why the others are happening. -
Yes I forgot to mention that. You get a 3 year subscription when you buy the car too. And something like 20 operator assisted calls as well.

I bought this: http://accessories.ford.com/net-asy-load-fixing-10344.html and like it.
-
Well I think the poll very clearly showed that those with MFT did not have the Battery problems at the rate that other folks did (which is what the TSB 13-04-13 is all about). I would add another question about mileage, but the forum won't let me ask more than 3 questions :(

Your response is useless.

Over the night, it was 12.57. There is a button near the interior light (on my SEL) that you can press that prevents the lights from coming on when you open the doors. Is it possible that your battery has been damaged before the TSB was there to charge it better? Although the DCDC TSB does not affect power drain the system may have.
-
Mine is 12.67 I last drove it at about 11am and this is reporting at 5pm, so about 6 hours it sat. This is under the hood using jump points. I'll post again tonight when it has sat longer. I have a November build date and I have not had TSB 13-5-1 applied. I should also say that I haven't had any electrical problems.
