Custom Wheels Boost Highway MPG
zhackwyatt replied to darrelld's topic in Accessories & Modifications
Ford runs the test. They do it on a Dynamometer to EPA guidelines. They don't come up with the number, it's still done in a controlled environment. They could have lied, I doubt it though. They could have "accidentally" misconfigured something, which I also doubt. The reason I doubt it is because I've seen the EPA test speeds, and their high-speed test is complete garbage. There are just too many assumptions and factors that are in MPG testing. In my experience with my car, I could get 47 mpg without problem by following the test speeds that the EPA puts forth. Discussions about the 47 mpg claim have been beaten to death 3 times over on this forum. -
Why C MAX ruined my Ford experience (not MPG related)
zhackwyatt replied to Meabn007's topic in Welcome
More like there are "reasons". We use Linux for our products because A) it's free, B) we have full control over it because it's completely open source In our case, it has nothing to do w/ performance or stability issues. We have our share of them even w/ Linux. It's a matter of choosing the right tool for the job. -
Anyone noticed a problem starting in Reverse?
zhackwyatt replied to CNCGeek's topic in General Discussion
I've backed up many times w/o waiting for the screen to come on. I think it's just a speed issue. I would be extremely surprised if the MFT system had any control over the mechanics of the driving system. I highly doubt that. The software for the airbag for example has to meet more stringent regulations than the MFT system. -
Calling a Tax a punishment is interesting. His argument seems mainly based on environmental reasons. That's what has always bothered me about the "hybrid community". That somehow your evil if you choose to drive a Gas Guzzler. I'm the owner of both a Gas Guzzler and a hybrid, what does that make me?

Just for learning purposes.

I'm thinking about sending some of mine into Blackstone for analysis. Anyone else ever do this? http://www.blackstone-labs.com/

For me, if I raise the seat too high, then I can't see as far behind me in the rear view mirror. There is sort of an angle downward to the ground.

I think it forgets old ones that you don't poweroff or shutdown at. My tint shop was stored as an EV+ location (turning the car on and off to roll up/down the windows I guess). I drive by the tint place every day and EV+ just stopped coming on when I drove by.

Nope. There's no downside to going more often other than cost and oil. I go every 3K in my explorer even though the interval is 5K because it has over 150K miles on it and is 15 years old. The manual also states: Never exceed one year or 10000 miles (16000 kilometers) between oil change intervals. My guess is the oil life monitor would fire off after a year even if you didn't reach the miles. Remember also that the gas engine in the C-Max runs much less than a conventional car,

It's not a standard, the old adage is 3000 miles for a oil change or 3 months whichever comes first. With most modern vehicles, that's just unnecessary. Dealers and "Jiffy Lubes" will put that down because it's more business for them. For my explorer, it's 5000 miles per the owner's manual. I'll be getting service when my C-Max tells me to.

All Nav and Sony Audio do is give you navigation, HD Radio, and better sound (theoretically, I've never listened to the difference between the Sony and Non-sony systems). I don't have an ipod, I just put all my music on a USB Flash drive and keep it in the car and with that method, the artwork definitely is displayed.

You might want to look at getting clear window film for the windshield. It stills blocks some heat but not the light.
-
Who says its a delay? The gas engine could still be on? I've seen this a lot, especially going downhill above at speeds above 70 as the car cannot be propelled in EV mode at that speed, so the engine won't turn off.
-
I did that once, but you should be able to delete and edit the record yourself by using the log book section.

Yes you can. You can change volume, and do next and previous track or next and previous station. With the DPad on the steering wheel, you can switch between Bands (i.e. FM, AM, Sirius, USB, Bluetooth, etc). I use the voice and steering wheel 90% of the time in the car and the touchscreen for the other 10. Edit: Oops sorry, totally misread your post. I thought you were asking about the MFT. I have no idea on the non MFT system.
-
I have heard that the new MFT update is supposed to fix this.

The other thing about the dealer is you may not have your choice of tint. There is a difference between cheap tint and good tint.
-
I don't know about the street names, but usually you can get your preset names back, by just switching to another band. i.e. if presents are gone on FM1, switch to FM2 and then back.

I'll try to upload the picture, but I drove across Phoenix the other day. 45 mile trip, a large portion of the trip if not majority above 70 mph, and i got 46.2mpg average. That was with a little over 3000 on the odometer and it was 66 outside. Temperature and break-in of the car I have found to be major influences.

FOOT ACTIVATED LIFTGATE IS INTERMITTENT
zhackwyatt replied to BWP's topic in Maintenance, TSB's & Recalls
Touching may be a workaround, but that is not how Ford intended the feature to work. It's a simple swing your leg under the bumper forward back motion. The last thing you want to do with stuff in your hands is do a flamingo stand. -
I'll try a second coat this weekend. I have to wash the whole car again because it got sand blasted in a storm yesterday. My before pictures came out but the afters didn't, I'm thinking because the light changed. I'll try again.

I'm curious as to what problem the dealer finds with the Escape. Are you not getting it fixed?
