Thanks Ashley! Merry ChristmaKwanzaHanukkah to you too!!

Thanks for posting that David! This is something I've considered. Someone (fotomoto?) mentioned that this had been done by Prius owners with great results. Do you have 2 different diameter wraps?

So it was the 3 bars AND the grade that caused it? What is Sherwin? 7% ? I know you've said but I don't remember.

Yikes Jus!!! Glad everything was ok! That's the very thing that scares me about the grill covers.

On really cold days, mine doesn't work with gloves off. I have to use the fob.

Welcome Rebecca! Glad to have you!

Ahhh, another Jeep person! Welcome Normski! I had a Liberty for 10 years. Got my C-MAX last year and LOVE It! You'll have plenty of time to read up on your new ride and ask questions. Have fun! Adair

Yes, BruceZ is right. It has squiggly vertical lines.

Question from the frozen Northland......is there any danger in increasing the tire pressure if I'm gonna be driving on snow and ice?

Let's have a big round of applause :clapping: for the 7th member of the 700 MILE CLUB, ScubaDadMiami (704.4/541.0 EV) 56.9 MPG, member since 12.7.13! :gold_star: Yeah, it's winter, and it will be harder for some of us to even get 500 :drool:for a while, others of us are still able to achieve great things! :congrats: Way to go SDM!!! Adair (and on a side note, my emoticons are back!!! :love_shower: )

Wash your mouth out with soap, Doug! As for the mirror warmers, they work great. Just turn on the rear defrost and it includes the mirrors. (And no fair rubbing it in that you've never had to use the rear defrost :swear:

Hi SDM, I don't claim that driving a Jeep makes me any expert, BUT, having lived in Duluth and now MI for the past 30 years and driving a lot of different cars in a lot of conditions may give me some street cred :airquote: All I know is with the Jeep, I was never worried about the weather, and would go out in anything. I feared the C-MAX wouldn't be as good in the snow, but the lure of being a new car, the MPGs, and all the tech drew me away. I have been pleasantly surprised at how well Jelly does in some pretty nasty conditions. The one thing I won't do, however, is take her over some of the back country roads I used to drive the Jeep on. No scratches, dings, or dents, if I can avoid them :) Yep, I had the same thing yesterday!

Well, I came to my C-Max from a Jeep, so I was skeptical last year, but we didn't have bad enough snow to worry about, but this one is a little more.......er....shall we say *intimidating*? But Jelly did just fine!

Yes, Mamalou, I'm using the tires that came with the car.

We are in the middle of our first significant snow of the season. It started sometime in the night and there was an inch or so on the ground when I got up at 5:30. My mom had a hearing aide appt. at Toledo Costco at 9:30 this morning, so we left about 8:30. It's a 35 mile drive, mostly freeway, and normally it would take about 30 minutes. By the time we left there were several inches of new snow on the ground and the wind was blowing and drifting it all over the place. The side roads had not been plowed at all. The freeway wasn't much better but luckily there wasn't much traffic. Every time I needed to stop or turn a corner, I could see the traction control light come on, and feel it kick in and keep me from slipping to the side. Even tho I was driving super cautiously (with Mom and Asia in the car), there were times when I just held my breath. By the time we were on our way home there was maybe 6 inches or so, and I was told the plows wouldn't likely be out until it was done. But we made it there and back again, none the worse for the experience, and I feel a lot better about driving my C-MAX in moderate snow. Last year I don't think we had this much at one time. (My emoticons aren't working, so I can't jazz this up any.)

YAY!!! That was just the best news to come home to!!! I'm so happy for you! For me it was hard to be w/o Jelly for 10 days this summer, so I can't imagine how it was for you for this long! WOW, she really looks great!! Jus like a new car, right off the showroom! And how did they get the new car smell back? Inquiring minds want to know! Don't worry, your 6th sense with Maxine will take over before you know it, and you'll be back in fine form again. Now, all the rest of you out there..........don't nobody go gettin' in any accidents any more!!! Y'all hear??
-
The short version is that he was rear-ended over a month ago. Maxine's been in the shop ever since and Jus has been going to PT and chiros to try to deal with whiplash.....and having to drive a Matrix! But he's on the mend now and hopefully will have Maxine back before Christmas.

73 was my comfortable temp this summer. Sorry to say I haven't needed the AC in a while

ZERO for me as well. And before they were at least every couple of weeks.
-
I hope not too.! I don't want to see the nay-sayers win. It's such a great car. Hopefully things will pick back up with the 2014s.

Going on a long trip on the expressway with a full load!

I am really happy for you Matt, but I don't get it. Our last trip to Indy was in early October. Weather was mild, highway new and fairly flat. 3 people weighing approx. 440lbs., w/luggage. 68-72 MPH. Air on the outbound, recirc on the return, and I got 34.9 MPG. And this was after all the upgrade. I have 14,400 miles on the car. I need you to come drive my car and see what I'm doing wrong. -
Welcome redwing2 and Mrs. redwing2!! So glad you found us! And what a wonderful gift! There is a boat load of info here.....happy reading!

Today I am thankful for my family and for friends who are like family, for good health, for a good job. I am blessed with a wonderful husband, 2 extraordinary daughters, the best son-in-law in the world (I tell him that all the time!), a granddaughter who makes me smile just by saying *Hi Grandma! and the best pup ever. My mother and my in-laws and many of our cousins are still with us and in reasonably good health. I have friends all the way back to grade school that I am still in touch with. The company I work for is stable and provides well for the employees. We have a warm, comfortable house and plenty of good food. I am a lucky woman! And I am thankful for each and every one of you, who share your experiences so freely with all of us, enriching our abilities with the car we (most of us, anyway) love. We all continue to learn from each other. It was a lucky day for me when RachelinLA invited me to this site. Have a wonderful day, everyone! ~~ Adair
