That is a good analysis i.e. sporty mode versus frugal mode.

Well my husband refused to go look at Christmas lights with me in my C-Max unless I put the heat on LOL. What a hot house flower he is.

Unable to get a validation for Blue Oval website

Don posted a copy of his visibility report and you will need that when it is put on the rail car (in red in his report), once you have that rail car number you can phone the CSX 1-800 phone number and follow the taped message cues. I used to phone 4 times a day to listen to how far my car had made it. I'll look for Scooter's old post to try to find the CSX phone number and put it here if I find it. It was a lot of fun to track and see how slowly those trains move. Here is the info to track on the train http://www.raptorfor...ead.php?t=13007 -
Received our SEL November 29th. Mileage for the first while stayed around 6.2 L per 100 kilometers (38 US mgp). Last week or two has been consistent at 5.4 L per 100 kilometers (43 US mpg). Temps lately ranging from 0C (32F) to 6 or 7 C (low 40's F). Mostly city driving with some highway, but I only have 1000 kilometers (600 miles) on my C-Max. I notice of late that I am staying in EV much more frequently. Ford Canada advertises our mileage 4.0 city and 4.1 L highway. Maybe in the summer or in their dreams--we shall see. I never drive over 65 mph on the highway, and I am turning into a pulse and glider as it is so challenging. When hubby drives it, it is a different story--very similar to your miles per gallon Jrust. But we are both happy with the car even with our different driving styles and different results.

Congrats. I had to google to see where Pinehurst is--so you are down South--nice!
-
Don that is quite the journey for your C-Max! Next onto a ship--wow. I remember when mine got to Kent and then they had some kind of rail car problem and she got side lined for a couple of days before making it to Anacis Island outside of Vancouver. I hope it gets there on time and I'm sure it will.

Thanks for posting. I will put down my ideas there too.

Here is a site where we got lots of commands http://support.ford.com/sync-technology/voice-command-categories-sync-myford-touch
-
We have a cheat sheet of commands that we put together. I think it basically came from Myford Touch. It really helps to use the right phrasing. Hubby is just putting together a little reference flash cards to have in the car until we get the commands down pat. Each nav. system is so different with the phrasing they use.

Anybody else have issues with CD player?
Laurel replied to Catmobile's topic in Audio, MyFord, Navigation & SYNC
Ours works well, but I am really careful to remove the CD as in my old Chevy pickup I did what you did and from thereafter had problems with CD's getting stuck. I put up with it for 5 years LOL. -
I range from 5.4 to 6.2 L per 100 kilometers --very dependent on the weather. Which Richmond are you in--British Columbia or Ontario? I am in White Rock, BC. If you are in Richmond, Ontario your mileage isn't so bad. If you are in BC, it is mediocre but will improve come Spring.

Welcome to the forum Hyperdude. My husband wanted the Ruby Red, but we got Ice Storm--the colour that I wanted. We still love our C-Max too and we got ours at the end of November.

Thanks for being CSI Portland! We will all need the info. you are gathering. Happy New Year.

Valkraider my husband agrees with you. Since there is a ghost in the system somewhere, I will carry on with my foot off the brake routine. I find it a struggle to remember as it does indeed go against standard safety procedures that are ingrained in all of us. It will be fascinating to learn what the real issue is down the road.

I notice in the owner's manual on page 172 says 1) Move the transmission selector lever to position P. 2) Press the start button. There is no reference to pressing the brake while doing this. Conversely to start the car on page 171 says, 1) Move the transmission selector to position P 2) Fully press the brake pedal. 3) Press the start button. I don't think this is an omission over keeping your foot off the brake. So I really think Andrew is correct in using "foot off the brake" to shut down. Somehow the car has to have a method to recognize shut down versus start up. I have carefully avoided putting my foot on the brake to shut down since buying it and no problems with the battery so far. Yes, my husband says he puts his foot on the brake for shut down--but he rarely drives my car. You lucky duck Andrew! San Luis Obispo for New Year's sounds like heaven.

Roggie do you have your VIN and window sticker yet? From past experience of members here, it is a good idea to make sure that your dealer ordered it correctly i.e. using the Order Verification system that has to be filled out absolutely correctly and with that system Ford needs a copy of your driver's license number. Some members have been told that everything was tickety boo and two months down the road found out the forms weren't done correctly. A good indication of things being on track is getting that VIN. We got our VIN about 10 days after our order was placed. Once I had the VIN, I could get the window sticker which shows the build date. It took about six weeks for us to get our car which was great. We are in Vancouver, BC

I was going to add to my post. I told my husband what I wrote and he said he always puts his foot on the brake when powering off--so there goes my theory LOL. He said if that was the way to do it, there would be a warning in the manual and there is not. So who knows what the glitch is.
-
Since reading one user's comments, I never put my foot on the brake when powering off (he thought it put it into accessory mode doing that) i.e. I drive in, put my foot on the brake and put it in park, take my foot off the brake and shut it down with a button push. So far so good. Would that be the issue with the dead batteries???

Welcome Kitty. Yes lots of gadgets to learn--I'm still figuring things out a month after having gotten our C-Max
-
Welcome. We like the MFT too. I do have a cheat sheet for commands as it seems one needs the right lingo or it can be frustrating.

Hi Roggie, Welcome to the forum. Take a look under Lounge and you will see a thread called Let It Snow which tells about a C-Max in the snow. And you will find some info. under the heading Tires and Wheels. Generally the C-Max sounds pretty good in the snow. We are in Vancouver and really aren't faced with too much snow so I can't comment.

How to put car into accessory mode
Laurel replied to Laurel's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors & Wipers
I learned today that I can put the radio on without having a fob with me, and the radio shuts off after about 10 minutes (or it do on my trial). I was surprised I could turn it on without having a fob with me. The C-Max has some weird idiosyncratic things going on eh? -

I will give it go Monk --one never knows if it thinks I should be drawling out "way thur may ap" (that is my version of you all drawling <g>). I used to like a GPS that my husband had and we could pick different accents such as English and Southern. Have you got a C-Max or are you just drooling? -
How to put car into accessory mode
Laurel replied to Laurel's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors & Wipers
Thanks Val! I just ran out to the garage and found it. The radio was on Sirius and wouldn't pick up a signal, but surprisingly the nav screen came on and I could put am on. I am surprised that the nav screen came on with that on/off button since I didn't push any start button for the car. I wonder if I didn't turn off the radio if the battery would run down?
