Congratulations Vam! I agree with adjusting the ambient light in the dark with car turned on.
-
Roggie do you check occasionally for your window sticker? I used to enter my VIN every couple of days and then one day voila it was there.

MyTouch didn't want to shut off...

Our MFT works so well that I will be scared to get the update for fear of jinxing it. We love it so far. -
I have driven the Focus and the Fusion hybrid. C-Max is far more comfortable, better vision, more head room, seating position is much higher and feels safer and is easier to get in and out of as you age.. The C-Max may not achieve the advertised mileage in winter but I would have still chosen the C-Max based on likeability in comparison. Life is too short so if people are unhappy they should get a different car. Nothing in this world is as advertised. I bought a Smart Car in 2011 and loved it, but hubby hated it due to his size. We took a financial beating upon selling it, but it was better than listening to belly aching for the next 5 years. We both like the C-Max so will now live happily ever after LOL.

Makes sense that your car was in a container. I remember many years ago buying a Skoda that had been coated with some sort of oil based smelly stuff on the ship over and the smell stayed with the car forever (sort of like stinky bear grease). Hope you really like your C-Max when you pick it up.
-
Unfortunately the C-Max doesn't have a heated steering wheel.
-
I was saying the same thing to my husband this morning. I think because of the battery issues with the C-Max too many people are jumping onto any issue they have with the car (usually as a result of not reading the owner's manual) and are in essence slamming the car for their lack of reading about it. I find it very disheartening. Good for you for laying it out Generalbeluga.
-
Don I am looking forward to the pictures! Too bad we couldn't see one of it on the ship--now that would be cool.

I thought it had to be heavy continuous rain before the autolamps would come on with the auto wipers. Maybe you pressed against the unlock feature on the fob while it was in your pocket? When you hear hoof beats, think horses and not zebras. I find any glitches that I have had have been operator error--not to say there are no gremlins in the C-Max <g>.

We were just out sight seeing on a sunny cool day. Temperature out is -1 C. We went 56 kilometers all city driving but up lots of hills and we got 44 US mpg/53 Imperial mpg.. And hubby had his heat cranked up to 23C. and the car took a good 10 minutes to warm up before I got into EV. I find my mileage improves with each trip and we are only up to 1300 kilometers on it since buying. Ford Canada says we will eventually get 4.0 L per 100 kilometers but right now we are at 5.3. So I am thinking we might actually achieve that when Spring comes. I am impressed at how much EV driving I get these days.

We pick up Bellingham on Travel Link, but that is not useful to us. I doubt whether I would subscribe to Sirius when the free trial is up. -
DRL / Daytime Running Lights (lamps)
Laurel replied to Hybrid dude's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors & Wipers
Don't they care about us Canadians and our mileage? I always drive with headlights on and don't count on the the DRL's--just so much safer having tail lights on in my opinion. I am still waiting for someone to answer my email to Ford Canada about window sticker mileage ie. 4.0 city and 4.1 L per 100 kilometers highway. It's been several weeks and no reply. I told them that I thought they had made a serious error putting those numbers on our window stickers. -
Mayday Jay I am sorry that you are so disappointed. I think there is a very big difference in driving a hybrid to achieve good mileage. It might be a point that salesman for Ford hybrids take the time to point out to new potential owners. I think today's drivers have gotten very poor driving habits--and I am not excluding myself in that observation. We are used to keeping up with traffic and while doing that we have developed very poor driving habits such as jack rabbit starts and abrupt stops. I am very observant and while driving I would estimate that 90% of the drivers are flooring it when they start up from stops at traffic lights, they tailgate, they race up on people's butts and stop suddenly at lights instead of breaking gently. Nobody goes the speed limit on freeways. It is our current driving culture. I've had my C-Max for about six weeks now, and I have totally changed to a conservative driver. I am not so conservative as to piss off most people, and I will modify my conservative techniques to avoid enraging others. i.e entering onto freeways I will put the pedal to the medal if I am with a big group of merging traffic who are hell bent to save 5 minutes commuting to work. But when I have to join the frenzied drivers to prevent road rage, my mileage stinks. I still love my C-Max and I enjoy the aspect of driving it conservatively to rack up good mileage. Initially I was disappointed that the mileage was so drastically affected, but for me there are so many pluses to the C-Max that I am very accepting now. I hope things level out for you.

The car must be on and you really can't see the ambient lighting unless it is dark enough. Sorry that is all I can think of as we have the SEL and there are knobs on the ceiling to control it. I rarely see the ambient lighting as I am not often out at dark.
-
Ouch! Hope you don't have a concussion. Remember Hillary Clinton and her fall which lead to a blood clot.
-
Nascar I notice the same as you i.e. I stay in EV mode for most of my small trips now-- whereas in the beginning I was like you and EV was very intermittent. I got mine Nov.29th and only have 1100 kilometers on it so far.
-
Okay I get where you were coming from with your question. Sorry to accuse of you imbibing <g>.
-
Darrell have you been drinking? LOL
-
Roggie I think my window sticker came up about a week or so after I got the VIN. Don't fret!

Anyone noticed a problem starting in Reverse?

Generalbeluga I think your conclusion is correct. We had two episodes of rolling back without power when we "thought" the car was ready to drive, but it was us not depressing the brake firmly when starting. -
USAToday: Low 2012 gas prices will evaporate this year
Laurel replied to C-MaxJaxon's topic in Articles, News & Reviews
The joggers did survive. One with brain injury though. Fascinating what they find out with the cameras there are at major intersections. They showed the camera footage, and the guy who hit them stopped, ran back and looked at them, touched one of them and then ran to a white SUV, and then got out and milled around when bystanders stopped to help them. One citizen copied down his license number because he was acting so oddly. The odd thing about the case is that they never released his name after they arrested him and confiscated his SUV. Said something about him going to court in May. Usually they report the name of the suspect in cases like this. I speculate that he is a local politician as we have a Provincial election coming up in late May. I think there is a bit of a cover up. When gas prices rocket here, people slow down for a short time and then promptly get right back to speeding about a month after they adjust to the new high prices. I just went outside because I could hear a helicopter circling. Another med evac happened about a mile away with a 3 car crash. Just saw footage on the news--more dumb assess speeding in all likelihood. -

Well I don't really complain when it has been up over $6.00 a gallon for regular as that is the only time I see the dumb ass drivers start to slow down a little. We seem to have very little traffic enforcement over the past 10 years, and now we have a society of speeders, tailgaters, no one stopping for amber lights. When the prices were above $6.00 a gallon, I did see people slowing down. We just had two women joggers wearing head lamps and reflective gear run over a block from me in a crosswalk by a hit and run asshole speeder. And I have to say the worst speeders around here are the soccer mom types in their SUV's with their kids in the car. -

Our price works out to $4.77 a US gallon for regular. This is about a buck cheaper per gallon than it was a few months ago. You all sure have cheap gas! -
My works just fine and I do what Darrell does and I say, Call home, call Ray,, call Shirley etc.
-
I've noticed idling sucks up the gas unless the car is warmed up.
