Jelly Bean is my hero!

Everything is downhill in Canada about now --including our dollar! Predicted to drop to 85 cents in the next while. Good time for you all to visit Canada!

I found this odd i.e. looked on Ford Canada dealer inventory and found VIN for a 2014 SEL that won't be built until tomorrow. We couldn't get a VIN for ours until it was in production. Just seems odd somehow. http://inventoryfoc.ford.ca/services/inventory/WindowSticker.pdf?vin=1FADP5BU5EL501911 Take a boo at the mileage too. Pisses me off. Very unrealistic from our experience.

Oh quit your fussing.LOL I remember my Winnipeg days with -40 F or C (that is when the temp.scales are the same ie. -40). 81 F sounds lovely.

I don't know how I missed your post fotomoto LOL. Very funny fellow you are. Here is a joke for you. A couple are at the airport in Phoenix, awaiting their flight. They are dressed in heavy boots, parka, scarf, mittens, and all ready to head home to the Canadian winter. An older American couple standing nearby, are intrigued by their manner of dress. The wife says to her husband, "Look at that couple. I wonder where they're from?" He replies, "How would I know?" She counters, "You could go and ask them." He says, "I don't really care. You want to know, you go ask them." She decides to do just that, walks over to the couple and asks, "Excuse me. I’ve been noticing the way you're dressed and I wonder where you're from?" The Canadian farmer replies, "Saskatoon, Saskatchewan". The woman returns to her husband who asks, “So, where are they from?" She replies, "I don't know. They don't speak English."

Tips for Renewing Sirius Radio Subcription
Laurel replied to Laurel's topic in Audio, MyFord, Navigation & SYNC
When we renewed our Sirius last June , the Sirius rep. told me to be sure to cancel my subscription about a week before it expires as Sirius will automatically renew it at the highest rate if you don't do this. That is because I used a credit care and they seem to be able to just go ahead and renew automatically. So I have our calendar marked to cancel a week before it expires so that I can then dicker over price again. -
Sam our mileage is similar when it is cold i.e 7.2 L. We have had a mild winter and ours is still hanging in at 5.9 L. I can get it a lot lower if I turn off the climate, but that seems a little silly to achieve better mileage. When the car was new I tried a few things, but now we are just driving it normally and taking the mileage in our stride.

I learned something new from HannahWCU! Daytime sensor for the navigation screen. I must be a real doze as I have never noticed that.

Laurel replied to Mahomar's topic in Sightings - C-MAX Hybrid's Spotted!
Welcome to the forum. I like the Sterling Grey too. I have fried the brain of my system too when switching to mpg from kpg while driving, but turning off the car usually fixes things. -
I find that if I drive the car regularly I accommodate the pedals being too close and have few slips, but hubby who drives the C-Max less gets irritated with the pedals and I think because his feet are bigger than mine it is more of an issue. Our winter has been oh so mild that it is scary i.e. climate change. When we test drove the Fusion Hybrid back before buying the C-Max (Fall of 2012), my husband eliminated the Fusion Hybrid due to the pedals being too close together. I think when a person is older with slower reflexes the pedal issue is much more noticeable --that's what we find anyway. We are not ancient --mid 60's--but we sure notice the impact of age on things like reflexes when braking and accelerating. The young sprogs probably don't even notice it. mtb you be careful too. California drivers are pretty peppy and zippy from our experiences on holidays.

We have experienced the same many times as well.

True enough JAZ. I just have a thing about negative campaigning--during election time it drives me crazy.

Jay your comments on the turning radius made me chuckle--that radius is a pain in the butt for sure. I haven't seen any new or old ads on the west coast of Canada. I watched the youtube of Sal and family and thought it was boring and not catchy. I prefer the old ads to that one. I would like to see one with catchy music and just stating the pluses of the C-Max. I don't like the Prius comparisons as the C-Max has enough going on its own.

The C-Max Bar - The Best Place to Greet & Talk
Laurel replied to Jus-A-CMax's topic in Lounge: Off-Topic
Adair you might want to consider Mason bees. We have put up accommodation for Mason bees in our old house and in our new house. You won't have honey hives, but you will have bees that pollinate and help the dire situation that is happening with lack of bees to pollinate crops etc. Mason bees are easy keepers! -
Reports for LONG Holiday trips in your C Max
Laurel replied to catsailor's topic in General Discussion
MadManMoon thanks for reporting back in. I think your numbers sound pretty typical for the type of driving you were doing. I think the temperatures were a bit colder than usual out there too so it doesn't take much of a temperature drop to affect mileage in a negative way. Our temps were down for a couple of days and kaboom our mileage took a dive. -
KAC I bought a few things when we went in to get the car. They had me captive in the manager's office to go through all the paper work, and I was so excited about picking up my car that I nodded my head to anything they asked LOL. That is basically true, but I will have to go through my papers to find out what needless things I bought. I know we have the ESP.

2014 C-Max Energy at Dealership
Laurel replied to Ponypower's topic in Sightings - C-MAX Hybrid's Spotted!
I think Edsel is just teasing you Ponypower, and we only tease those whom we like. I can't find any 2014 Energi's at any local dealerships but I'll check online again. If there is one locally, we will go take some pictures. -
Goodbye CMAX community! Thanks for everything!
Laurel replied to Jmonty's topic in Lounge: Off-Topic
Well, we happen to have some good precipitation today and the escape handles wonderfully in the snow. Great power from a little 2.0L engine :D You're off to a good start! -
Goodbye CMAX community! Thanks for everything!
Laurel replied to Jmonty's topic in Lounge: Off-Topic
Goodbye Jmonty. We'll miss you. I quite like the Escape too. I am with you in thinking a C-Max isn't optimal for snow country, and you live in Colorado so I think you are making a good decision. Our next door neighbours love their Escape. Check in after you have had the Escape for awhile and give us a review please. Sorry for the trade-in value that you got, but I have done worse. They say that is where car dealers make their money instead of from selling new cars. But it still hurts eh? -
Jus I can't argue with anything you say. I think once a person plunges in, buys a hybrid, and learns to drive it it does change your perspective about cars and it is interesting to learn. But I do believe there is a huge lack of information for new hybrid drivers being put out by manufacturers whether it be Ford or Toyota. I think most of us think "oh I'll buy a hybrid and get great mileage automatically because that is the way the car is built". If I was king of Ford, I would do a huge advertising blitz about hybrids and how to improve mileage and learning the hybrid lifestyle. I would get guys like you and Nick and Paul and Adair ,photomoto etc. to do some commercials showing the learning curve and the owners love of the car once they know how to drive the car. I would convert gas drivers and talk about our eco system etc. and how we all can do our small bits to consume less energy.

mtb9153 you make excellent points. I think that catsailor has the crux of the issue nailed down though. A hybrid enthusiast can achieve the mileage advertised (with the revised mileage) but Joe citizen cannot. From my perspective I think Ford does a disservice to buyers by not having dealership sales people talk about driving a hybrid and how there is a set of skills required. When we bought we knew nothing about hybrids and our sales person was in the same position with probably less knowledge than us. This can create those owners who are none hybrid enthusiasts who wind up foaming at the mouth due to poor mileage. I think there our tons of people like me who adhere to things taught on the forum when we have time, but find it truly annoying to find that low climate temperatures and use of air conditioning affect mileage so drastically and Ford never told us these things when buying. I know some forum members have said it is up to buyers to learn all this before going in to buy a car, but I honestly don't think that is done by many of us. I also understand that if sales people told buyers that you have to learn a whole new driving skill set to achieve mileage as reported that many potential buyers would say forget it. So I'm not sure what the answer is to the disappointed buyer group who is suing. I think Ford could have advertised the C-Max as a more luxurious comfortable and powerful hybrid and still have had a huge customer interest. I find people are really cranky about mileage issues.

Ashley is the delay due to the company still trying to nail down the reasons for the battery failures?
