  1. How would letting the car warm up fully before driving accomplish anything? In EV mode you would be sitting there doing nothing except draining some accessory energy out of the big battery. In ICE mode, which would be needed to "warm-up", you would be burning gas while going nowhere - you would be adding some charge to the big battery but you would be doing that when you start moving as well.
  2. . Are you sure it is sap? I thought sap would come off with soap and water. Could it be pine resin? Pine resin smells like pine
  3. My View is one of the options on the small screen to the left of your speedometer (the small screen that is controlled by the arrow buttons on the left side of the steering wheel) and Accessory/Climate power is one of the options in My View. See pages 117 and 119-121 of the manual.
  4. Yes, there have been some 2014 vehicles with 12 volt battery issues. See for example post #1162 on page 59 of the "Battery dead" thread. http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/topic/361-battery-dead/page-59?do=findComment&comment=42157
  5. Oh, the drama of waiting for him to decide which of his casino cards to use to pry of the nose cone to get to the posts for jumping the battery! What a clever design by the way to hide the posts behind an expensive piece of plastic.
  6. Yes, look at post #1261 in this thread. "I have not had a dead battery episode since my coolant pump was changed in April. . . "
  7. My impression with the hybrid is that when you have the heat on the car will still go into EV mode (no ICE) and the ICE will come back on when either 1) the ICE is needed to keep the car moving OR 2) the ICE is needed to heat the coolant to keep providing heat.
  8. And Paul's car is on the left sporting the world famous grill covers!
  9. I had to back our C-Max up about 6 feet on our driveway. The hybrid battery was very low so the ICE came on when I started the car. Here is the summary of my trip. I suspect the brake score is actually "no brake score" rather than "0" as I did not make a panic stop.
  10. Around May 2013, when my C-Max was 6 months old, I had one time when I could not get the lift gate to close automatically. It was around 10pm and I did not know if it was ok to close it manually. I looked up the tel number of a Ford dealer in Hawaii. They were surprised to get a call from North Carolina and they were very helpful too. They said closing manually was ok so that's what I did. Everything worked normally after that.
  11. This is not the cause of the 12v battery problems. This is a blame the owner/driver red herring that has nothing to do with anything.
  12. Do you mean you have not changed a flat OR that you have not had a flat? I had a flat on my C-Max about a month ago. I was a few miles from home. The tire was ruined by whatever I ran over. The fix-a-flat and compressor would have done nothing had I tried to use them except to cause me to have to buy a nice pressure sensor. I happened to have my donut spare in the car. I usually only have it on the car for long trips. I found that the jack I had bought was too tall to go under the car when the tire was flat and the lug wrench that came with it was the wrong size. I had to wait for AAA to come help me. Since then I have a new jack with a lower profile and a new lug wrench that fits.
  13. Good luck Bull Durham. I hope the NC lemon law and the BBB process work quickly for you. Where have you been having your C-Max serviced?
  14. FedEx delivered a check to us on Friday. Our C-Max was built in Nov 2012 and purchased in Dec 2012.
  15. I have seen a bunch of Ford contests on Facebook. For the past month or two there was one with 6 different Ford models as the prizes - Focus, Fusion, F-150 and 3 others - but no C-Max. Today I saw this on Facebook. C-Max is in the mix! You may need to be signed into Facebook for this to work. The 2014 Ford C-Max is ready to go home with you! 16. Full set of stats for my car Lifetime MPG 43.2, Brake Score 92%, EV miles 12,950, Regen miles 2,356 and total miles 30,952 EV% of total mi. 41.8% [Regen % of total miles 7.6% and Regen % of total EV miles 18.2%]
  17. Paul - Are you sure that you have included all our your regen miles? When I had update 13B07 done in July 2013, my lifetime regen miles counter got reset from 825 regen miles back to 0. Right now I have 30952 total miles, 92% lifetime brake score and 1531 (on the counter now) + 825 (on the counter before 13B07) = 2356 lifetime regen miles. You have 65,000+ total miles, 98% brake score and only 2038.1 regen miles. You have posted about several very long highway trips, but I would expect that you would have more regen miles over 65,000+ miles than I have over 30,000+ miles. Dave
  18. Over 30,000+ miles our lifetime mpg is 43.2 and our lifetime brake score is 92%. When today's monsoon ends I will go out and check the other data. I also need to check my records. I have never reset any of our lifetime values, but I recall that our lifetime EV miles got set back to 0 by one of the software updates.
  19. Sorry about your tire. We had a flat recently close to home and had to replace a tire too. My mini-spare just happened to be in the car and it worked great. Unfortunately the jack I had purchased (made for an Escape) was to tall to slide under the C-Max with a flat tire. I had to get help from AAA>
  20. Has anyone ever gotten a yellow brake score in coach? One driver of our C-Max consistently brings the car home with a yellow brake score in coach and a trip brake score is the low 80's. I suspect the worst part of this is not the brake score itself, but the missed opportunities to coast/glide with no fuel use and no use of the brake pedal.
  21. 92%. That leads me to start a new thread titled "Yellow Brake Score in Coach"
  22. It has been a long time since I set them to give the additional info so I may not recall exactly but there are two settings for trip 1 and trip 2. When you are in trip 1 try hitting the right arrow. You will see that you are in standard mode. Change to enhanced mode and then your trip 1 will show the added info. Repeat for trip 2.
  23. Cowspotdog Sorry about your persistent 12v problem. Have you thoroughly studied the "Battery dead" thread? If all your dealer has done is to run diagnostics and update software, they have not done all they should be doing. Go to http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/topic/361-battery-dead/page-64 start with excellent post #1261 (re leaky electrical connectors) from earlier today and start working your way back.
  24. I have been conducting tests w my car. I have not had one blow away yet. I think it will be spotted by the driver before getting in the car. I thought about placing the card under the windshield wiper. I will test this on my car too. I think it's a long reach and the retracted wiper is so low that the card may not be spotted easily. It's a cool 91 deg here right now. I'm going out to try under the wiper now. Much easier to reach the wiper than I thought it would be. Card is easily visible outside the vehicle from the front or side. Card is barely visible from inside the vehicle - only a small corner of the card extends above the black frit on the bottom of the glass.
  25. Found one to leave a card on at my fitness center in Chapel Hill this morning.
