I have two CMaxes and have one intro-tech and one walmart type style screen. I intend to do a side by side temperature test one of these days. Unfortunately the cars are two different colors so I think I'll try switching the shades between cars and repeat the test.

When I read the headline, I thought you'd actually seen a never-before-sighted Ford "efficiency coach". These were announced along with the first round of fuel rebate checks last year.
-
IIRC from that thread, we "decided" it was fuel system maintenance but never came to definite conclusion. I can't say I've ever heard it on my NRG because A) I don't usually hang out in my garage listening to my cars LOL and B) the EV charging fans would easily drown out this sound.

took delivery of our 2014 C-max in Ice Storm!
fotomoto replied to fordfan82's topic in Lounge: C-MAX Hybrid
CONGRATS! :happy feet: We need details: trim, packages, 1st week report, etc. -
Installation isn't always an option for renters, condo owners, work location, etc.

I recorded this last year.

LOL. I used to have an F-150 supercab a few years back and don't miss those $80 fill ups every few days. And that was a V6 5-speed! I can't imagine what the monster V8/4x4/4door models costs......

Welcome! For Energi specific questions, join and ask the sister forum located here: http://fordcmaxenergiforum.com/ Short answer: yes, get a larger, more heavy duty extension cord.
-
When you switched out, did you notice a reduction in tire noise?
-
Referencing the highlited section in your above quote: Did you receive a primary check in aug-sept of 2013?

In case you missed my post, they (Ashley) helped me with a warranty issue also! :worship: Glad to have them here.

Is there is a way to find remaining capacity of Li-Ion battery
fotomoto replied to dmk2000's topic in 2013 Ford C-MAX Hybrid
This battery chemistry doesn't like being left 100% charged in the heat or completely discharged for long periods of time. But here's the rub: Ford only uses the "middle" part of the battery. IOW, when you see a full or empty indicator on the dash, it's neither. Full is really closer to 80% of actual capacity and empty is around 20%. It may be closer to a 75/25 ratio, I forget. Another example: my Energi model has a 7.6kWh battery but we only use 5.7kWh before running out EV miles and going into hybrid mode. -
I've never seen a "sirius update" message. Hmmm. Yes, these cars are rolling computers so a hard reboot can and does often works for fixing many issues.

Excellent report and Welcome to the forum! Love the rock story; talk about the princess and the pea! :lol2: Your MPG will get better as both you and the engine break in. :shift: Make sure the wife gets the inverter recall done on that Prius ASAP.
-
Nope. This is the first case I've heard of. Previously I owned a 2010 Prius (my first hybrid) which is Toyota's third generation and still being produced today. Some current owners are losing their power inverters (which have a recall for a new software update to help with cooling) with up to two month waits. They are given the same explanation you got.

Brake Rottors strange wear pattern
fotomoto replied to David Toth's topic in Brakes, Chassis, Park Assist & Suspension
I agree that this is normal..........for a hybrid that employs regenerative braking. The rear two discs really haven't been used yet! LOL The fronts haven't fully completed break-in either. I assume your brake scores are high. Efficient hybrid drivers report getting well over 100k miles on the front rotors and pads. :shift: -
Check #3 arrive today via FedEx. It helped with the down payment on another new CMax Energi for the wife.
-
And give up the plug? NO WAY! I try to not speak in absolutes but I seriously don't plan on buying a non-plug in ever again. Back to the wife, she also needs a car at work for travel and carrying items. I did cross shop the Volt (yes, again) and the Leaf eventually narrowing it down to the Leaf and NRG. The base model Leaf S would have been cheaper but it would have been limited to in town use only and coming from a "pampered" life of SEL CMax'es it would have been a HUGE step down in features. It didn't even have cruise control! The CMax is a really great value when you start comparing features with other competitors.
-
As homestead said, it's activated for free to entice you to keep it. BTW, if you or others don't know, go into the nav menu, select sirius travel link, then weather to see a real time weather radar. Very, very cool and informative. You can zoom in/out and while stopped move the map around.
-
Two more reasons she can't walk or bike, she needs to drive somewhere at a moments notice and she needs to carry cargo frequently. A plug-in is perfect for her.
-
The hybrid got traded in so hopefully it will go to a good home; especially since it "owns" the MPG record for a unmodified CMax. ;) (special wink towards you Paul, LOL) I won't be leaving the forum. The models' are too similar and this place has waaaaay too much good info from our members to leave.

LOL, you don't know south Texas. Heat index today is 114f. :drop: Mornings can actually be worse due to off-the-scale humidity levels that will have you sweated through. The route is also not really safe for pedestrians. And lastly when school starts back up in the fall, her route will increase to about 4 miles. If we were to always take my car on out of town trips, she could theoretically never use gas! :kookie:

I posted this on the Energi forum but thought I'd share it here too. The wife got a new, loaded 2013 Energi last weekend: 303a package, platinum white paint and pano-roof. The was the last one on the lot with a huge $8k markdown. Combined that savings with the federal and state (new for Texas) rebates ($6500 total) along with some nice checks from Ford :spend: to use as down payments, the timing was right. She has a new, better paying job with a whopping 1 mile commute and so even the hybrid was only getting 18mpg on such short trips with a cold engine. I also didn't like the fact the ICE wasn't warming up so I was purposely driving it on longer trips around town and leaving my Energi in the garage which from a fuel conservation standpoint is shooting oneself in the foot...... The wife loves the roof but is deathly afraid of the self-park feature :drop: and I admit it is kind of creepy. LOL <edit> We spent Sunday practicing on some quiet neighborhood streets and now she loves it! :shift: I didn't know this little fun fact about the system: if you activate the left turn signal, it will look for open spaces on the left side of the car and will park on that side of the street. Freaky! Of course it rained on the way home from the dealer. :banghead:

That darn squeek is gone!
fotomoto replied to FoutsNC's topic in Brakes, Chassis, Park Assist & Suspension
Nearly a year later on this reply but I found it was the weather seals on the doors making the noise. A quick shot of lubricating silicone spray makes them go away. -
I apply silicone spray to all 8 sets of weather stripping (the door has a set and the body has a set) every couple of months/several car washes. It takes a day or two for the full lubricating effect to take but it does silence or greatly reduce any squeaks. I usually make a special trip to an auto parts store but I recently found my local walmart now carries it in spray can form.
