David, Getting folks to volunteer to do anything is tough so you shouldn't put even the smallest of hurdles in front of them. Your links aren't "clickable" and must be copy/pasted to navigate to the survey. Also, you label traditional hybrids such as the Prius as HEV's (hybrid electric vehicles), ask when the first one was purchased, and then what specific vehicle it is from a drop down list; however, that list only includes BEV's and PHEV's but not HEV's. Very confusing. Finally, you would be better served to post this on the Energi forum instead of here on the hybrid forum since these folks don't charge. http://fordcmaxenergiforum.com Survey is quick and not tedious. :clapping:

See if stashing them underneath the rear seats will work. NOTE: they could be damaged if not removed when you need to lower/flatten the seats. I store a golf umbrella there. There may be enough room for the head of larger clubs (driver) between the seat and door frame when closed (where the wrist strap is in the pic) .

I bought a couple of those generic designs for my wife's former civic and they were crappy. One was totally unusable at night and the other was OK. Neither had anything remotely close to the wide angle field of coverage the OEM unit provides. Yes, that's how I did it on the Civic but because of the CMax lift gate, the distance between the camera mount and the lights is very long so you'll certainly need additional wiring.

Seriously? :headscratch:

Suggested tips for cold weather driving?

Yes, the CMax has active grill shutters too. -
:needphotos: Pretty please.

We love ours. :wub2: So much we got another! :happy feet: The Energi is knocking it out of the park: 1,000 miles on 2.1 gallons of (dealer) gas.

Suggested tips for cold weather driving?
fotomoto replied to ERPriest's topic in Hybrid Driving Tips & Tricks
Well evidently less than 150w as the daughter used it this morning (37f) on the medium setting. She said it was nice and toasty. It's only big enough to either sit on (her choice) or use on the back but not both. -

And it works the other way around too. If the radiator is clogged or the thermostat is stuck or the cooling fans stop running, etc and thus the engine begins to get hot, turning on the cabin heat and cranking the cabin fan will help shed BTU's which may protect the engine from overheating till one can get out of traffic or make the next exit. If you don't have a temp gauge but only a "HOT" warning light, it will most likely be too late to try this trick by the time that comes on. Although it doesn't get really cold down here, I've found that I can drive my NRG in the mid-30's with just the seat heaters so I don't need the ICE heat. It helps that I have a partially insulated garage too. I totally forgot about the rear passenger ac receptacle till today. I'm going to let my rear passenger try the use of an electric heating pad as a poor mans rear seat heater. -
The aero mods begin (Now working on Diffuser) !!!

I saw this on another forum and thought it might be of interest to your aero-modders: http://www.greencarreports.com/news/1088990_chevy-volts-wind-thrumming-noise-aero-fix-now-available?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+GreenCarReports+%28Green+Car+Reports%29&utm_content=FeedBurner -
Hey man we need the deets! I had a Gen III prius and it supposedly has a 115mph top end. I had mine up to 90mph or so passing some folks who were doing 75mph-ish but it was starting to play out.

I bet your wife will learn to love the car. :wub2: My wife would not even drive my Volt for the first month or so of ownership because she was so overwhelmed by the technology and screens but by the time I traded it in on the CMax for more room she was the one wanting to keep it. You can simplify the left and right screens on the drivers dash to reduce information overload. I'd go with DTE (distance to empty) on the left and the leaves on the right; simple with maybe even a calming effect. Ford has made a ton of explanatory videos on CMax operation including how to change the screens. Maybe these will help:https://owner.ford.com/servlet/ContentServer?pagename=Owner/Page/OwnerVideoPage&year=2013&make=Ford&model=C-MAX%20Hybrid Good Luck!

Nicely done! I also use the left hidden storage compartment to stow jumper cables. That's where the factory EVSE cable (charger) is stored in the Energi model. You don't have to swipe your foot from left to right; just one forward/backward kick right in the middle does the trick for me (after the update). :clapping:

At 18K miles, it was past time to replace the cabin filter in our CMax so I looked around locally and no auto parts stores or walmart had any in stock. Fram/fabreeze doesn't make one ATM so right now it's motorcraft or nothing thus I went with the above amazon link. TIP: if you buy two, you only get charged a dollar more for shipping thus saving $5 if order separately. Besides, you're going to need another one down the road anyways. Me, I got two CMax'es so it was a no brainer. Installation was not easy and you really have to contort yourself to get it it. You'll need a #15 torx bit or screwdriver to remove the one screw and a flash light is essential. There isn't a ton of free space to remove or install it and I found you have to squish it a lot to make clearance; however, it did pop back into shape once in. Overall, this is a crappy layout and I don't look forward to doing it again. I you don't do your own oil changes then you probably won't want to tackle this. Interior side of filter at 18k miles: Exterior side: I won't wait as long next time.

OK, it doesn't sound toooooo bad. When it hasn't gone all the way through, you want to progress from least to most in terms of treatment strength. First wash it real good with soap and water. Next, use a scratch remover product. I like the turtle wax brand soft paste that comes in a squeeze bottle; I've also had excellent results Meguiars Scratch X. Follow the directions and use a lot of elbow grease. When you polish it out, the friction from the towel and the dried product will create heat that actually melts the paint/clear coat to blend back into the damage area. Don't be afraid to try a couple more applications. If that doesn't do the trick you can try a rubbing compound which is more abrasive (same technique) and then the scratch remover on top of it. You'll need a new wax coat too after all this is done. If you still need to apply some touch up paint for your tri-coat red, the Ford product matches very well. It cost me $12 from my local dealer. They didn't have it in stock but got it within a couple of days. Use some isopropyl alcohol or wax/grease remover in the remaining deep scratches before applying the paint for a better bond. A couple of light coats is always better than one heavy one. Don't get in a rush. Good Luck!

Are the scrapes through the paint to the black plastic beneath or is it swapped paint? If it's the latter, you can usually buff it out. Yes, you can use a touch up bottle of minor scrapes. A pic would help too.

Sure you can. TIP: combine trips whenever possible to make the drive as long as possible with a fully warm ICE.

Wash DC to Pittsburgh via Cumberland MD return via the PA Turnpike

Do you recall the temperature range over the trip? -
Oh I forgot something else that's important to this method; If you don't continue to stop and power cycle at these new forced learn locations, the EV+ program will drop them. Also IIRC, there is a limited number of locations it can store (5?).
-
You can force learn an EV+ location by power cycling (turning car on/off) 11 times in a row. Not sure you could do that in the time span of one traffic light signal though! LOL

First of all, I'm sorry to hear of your troubles. Secondly, what makes you think Toyota would expedite shipping just for you because you asked? I've owned four Toyotas and their service is OK but nothing stellar. It's taken class action lawsuits to get them to own up to serious problems in the Prius line. I think you need some time to cool off.

I'm thinking it's a false start. You touched the start button too quickly before pushing the brake pedal far enough. I do it frequently when I'm in rush (or stressed like your situation). You can even move the transmission lever to R or D.

Page 209: D (Drive) with Grade Assist Press the transmission control switch on the side of the gearshift lever to activate grade assist and cancel overdrive. Grade assist: • The grade assist lamp in the instrument cluster is illuminated. • Provides additional grade braking with a combination of engine motoring and high-voltage battery charging to help maintain vehicle speed when descending a grade. • As the vehicle determines the amount of engine motoring and high-voltage battery charging, you may notice the engine speed increasing and decreasing to help maintain your vehicle speed when descending a grade. Press the transmission control switch again to return to normal D (Drive). • The grade assist lamp in the instrument cluster will not be illuminated I'm not saying it's not there but I cannot find in the manual any stipulations to cancel it. <shruggs>

There's one very important error/omission on that link about the Volt fire: that fire at the NHSTA storage lot began THREE WEEKS after their crash testing. :rtfm:

Anybody else see Dlr ads for C-Max disappear?
fotomoto replied to Mi-C's topic in General Discussion
Folks, the C-Max/Fusion hybrid line is now second in sales in the USA behind Toyota, of course, while the Energi twins along with the focus electric give Ford the lead this month in nationwide plugin sales over the Leaf, Volt, Plug in Prius, and even Tesla. :happy feet: "Year-to-date, the growth in the Fusion and C-Max hybrids (41,000 units) represents sixty percent of the overall growth in the hybrid market.
