New 2013 Energi qualify for Tax credit?
fotomoto replied to chung_chang's topic in Buying, Order and Leasing
It qualifies for both! I just got my Texas check for my 2013 purchased a couple of months ago in July. I'll file for the $4007 in my federal taxes come January/February 2015. You almost certainly will not get money back from Ford as they should have replaced the window sticker by now (new ones were issued back in May). If it has the original sticker with the old EPA figures at the time of sale, you might get a check but that is a big "IF". Good luck in your search! -
Wax/grease remover. You can get it at any auto-parts store.

It crashed and rebooted. I don't think I've seen one since the big update last summer (3.6.2).

Updated C-Max to be Revealed on September 17
fotomoto replied to 62Lincoln's topic in Lounge: Off-Topic
ATM only the first image is loading for me but I want those wheels! Those and the subtle front end changes really "pep" things up a bit. I like it A LOT! :worship: -
I think you may have missed the part that I'm using ratchet tie downs. Plenty of force with those. I didn't mention that with this setup I can't open the lift gate as it contacts the front wheel. If I invert the bike, the gate will have plenty of clearance and if I remove the wheels (and place inside car) it should also make the bike less desirable to snatch/grab low lifes.

Updated C-Max to be Revealed on September 17
fotomoto replied to 62Lincoln's topic in Lounge: Off-Topic
Well I like what little I can see so far! :) Typically front end styling treatments don't transfer from across the pond...... One more day for the big reveal. -
Well I'm going to put those plans on hold for a while as see how my cargo carrier will work. Besides no additional costs, this setup holds the bike rock solid still without having to resort to "cranking" on the ratchet tiedowns. Even so, I'm considering laying a heavy blanket down on the carrier floor and inverting the bike before tying it down with the ratchet straps so as not to stress the wheels/spokes.

All all Energi owners... blase'?
fotomoto replied to Kelleytoons's topic in Sightings - C-MAX Hybrid's Spotted!
Painting an entire group of owners based on one encounter with a stranger in a public place is just silly. You should either change the title or just delete this thread. -
WOW, this is a new one on me. Yeah, I'd try the factory reset for sure. Maybe clear the cache out of the phone and message apps too.

I, too, have a 1.25 hitch and really like the unobtrusive looks when not in use. I have been fitting two adult 700c road bikes in my smaller NRG hatch just need to remove the front wheels. I really like the security and weather protection that affords but I also want to get a carrier for the rare occasion that I need to take rear passengers along. I'm currently looking to get a hitch mount type carrier that swings down for liftgate access.

You can buy anywhere even online. Anyone will take your money, this is AMERICA! ;) Just make sure they specifically cover hybrid specific powertains and additional systems. The longer you wait (more miles) the higher the prices usually get just like life insurance which is what these really are. Here's the link to Ford: http://owner.ford.com/servlet/ContentServer?pagename=Owner/Page/ESPPage GOOD LUCK!

On a music related note: Buried in the recent iPhone and iWatch announcements was the FREEEEEE release of U2's new album on iTunes. Not one song, the whole album is available for free download.

I really don't have a favorite but if I could "roll my own" it would mainly be a blend of The Spectrum and Classic Rewind with some occasional offerings from First Wave and Octane and hourly news updates. :lol2: My wife could set it to "The Pulse", rip the knob off, and be happy.

Keypad with push button start
fotomoto replied to A2gemini's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Locks & Remote Start
Ahh, so the keypad will allow locking the fob in the car. Got ya'. Others have done this: remove battery from keyfob* and leave in car, remove metal key from fob, lock car via interior door switch, and use metal key for access upon return. Lots of active wear have solutions for securing a key and I've use a safety pin for extra insurance. Good luck! -
It should be if they go by the manual which has motorcraft specs but my local dealership didn't have it (I guess) because they used mobil 1 full syn 5w-20. :happy feet: The receipt show a $75 charge/credit. :drop: I'm a DIY and use mobil 1 0W-20 and mobil 1 filter and save approximately $50 per change compared to the dealership rate.

Keypad with push button start
fotomoto replied to A2gemini's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Locks & Remote Start
Just curious, why would you want or need a keypad if the car all ready has keyless entry? -
Yes, use a screen that has both the ICE and EV motor usage meters. You'll see the EV motor is initially higher than the ICE lessening the load on it and letting it warm up a bit before asking more load (charging) from it.

Hey CMax Golfers - stash your precious loot here...
fotomoto replied to Jus-A-CMax's topic in Interior
Or forget they are there when you lower the seat backs to load something. They may very well get damaged/crushed. I keep a golf umbrella there. -
You're in BC so you may not understand how bad these "seasons" can get. Add in the a hot grill and sitting in an intense sun all day and these remains can truly get baked on.

I had a leather bra on a car back in the 90's when they were very trendy. Dirt getting underneath+vibrating at highway speeds makes for great sandpaper type interaction with the paint. Never had another one since. I (DIY) added a 3M clear bra to the hood on my first CMax and it worked very well. A second pattern for the bumper/front fascia didn't do as well (bubble up at edges). BUT they protected the paint very well (highway commuter) and peeled off easily when we traded it in.

This was shared on the Energi forum so I thought I'd add it here too. If nothing else, make sure and read the last page (#5) of the attached PDF. Ford TSB 14-0155.pdf

I've written about this before after I went through it and then saw the same pattern occurring to others originally on the prius forum but now other forums too. Newbie Phase: Overwhelmed by all the tech and the new driving dynamics. Student Phase: Research, learning, forum Q&A Competitor Phase: Pushing your personal boundaries in fuel economy, putting your new knowledge to work. Veteran Phase: Continuing the mileage challenge or just driving it. Helping others, etc. My "love" is and has always been motorcycles so I have viewed cars as simply appliances but hybrids have changed that. Enjoy the ride! :shift:

No worries. You will get a warning to "Stop safely now!". I did it twice going for a 700 and later an 800 which ended up being 894 miles. Just pull over at the next convenient spot, add gas, turn car back on and continue on your way. Hannah, did you try to cram any extra ounces in at your last fill up?

Whats your opinion on Fuel Cell Vehicles (FCVs)?
fotomoto replied to TopherTheME's topic in Lounge: Off-Topic
For plug-in/BEV tech, I like to use the digital camera industry as an analogy. :camera: Just like with the first hybrids, the early digi-cams were inferior to the mature and highly developed film camera on almost every measure but folks could see the possibilities. Die hard film fanatics cried that digital would never have enough quality or be cheap enough for the masses but less than 20 years later Kodak was dead. Now the digi-cam industry is in danger of smartphones/tablets taking over. I see the first plug-in's as the first smartphones cameras. These phone cameras had ho-hum performance but people found them incredibly convenient and easy to use.; just like plugging in at home every night and driving on EV the next day! :flirt: Now, current camera phones are equal to consumer digi-cams for most folks needs. I see the next generation of plug-ins (longer range, reduced costs) of doing the same.
