Here is what you can expect from the next generation of MyFord Touch/ sync. (this will be on the next gen of cars in 2014/2015, per the article) it's already on the 2013 Ford F-150 Lariat model. challenge here: can anyone spot the cmax in the video?? what color was it?? ;) they will be adding real knobs and dials in addition to the touch screen interface to reduce all the complaints with it. your thoughts?? do you wish you had this now instead or are you ok with current setup? : http://www.motorweek.org/auto_news/motor_news/myford_touch

i was watching one of the latest episodes of MotorWeek on my tv today, the one starring the Ford Fusion Energi (and yes they mentioned the cmax as well since they share alot of things) .they had a segment where they talked about how many folks didn't like the sync system and complained so now Ford is working on changing it to have the traditional buttons/dials along with the touch screen buttons for those that can't stand the touch screens only control of the sync system. they already have this system in one of their upscale trucks and its coming to the next gen model Ford cars. it's episode 3246 which aired on 7/21/1$ see about the 15:00 minutes mark in from the start after Goss´s garage, they have the motor news update segment with Yolanda Vasquez it's called " Out of touch" here it is: http://www.motorweek.org/auto_news/motor_news/myford_touch

nope sorry...still need to post all my pix and video of the Ford event and share my story of what happened at the hybrid challenge..... -
I'm used to it as my 2012 Passat is a lot bigger/longer than my 2004.5 model was so i still can't get used to backing up. 3 pointers are a hassle but sometimes a necessity. so glad i was able to get the backup cam installed after the fact. love it. can't do without it now. my wife is super good at turning and backing up so she might not have issues. Will need to test it out more if we can ever find one to rent for a few days!!!!! stupid rental agencies.

I'm sure you had a great golfing day. i wish i could join you in a round someday.still a long way to go in my recovery after surgery and haven't played in a long time. i miss it though. my grandpa taught me back in my college days. was good at the shorter executive par 3 & 4 courses (Arroyo Seco, etc) . didn't like the full sized 18 hole courses as my driver/long irons weren't as good. you didn't miss much at the Ford event esp if you didn't plan on driving the speed cars (focus st and fiesta st) -
great job so far and not even barely broken in yet and no cmax driving experience. it only gets better I'm sure.

Inconsiderate people spilled cola on my car!!!
salsaguy replied to spyburn's topic in Appearance: Detailing, Wash & Wax
coke is very caustic.if you leave your tooth in it after it comes out, it will be dissolved in a short time period. you sure the person who reported it isn't the one who did it?? too convenient that they knew about it with all the other cars in the lot. who is going to look at someone else's car while walking by just by happen stance??? hmmm sounds fishy to me.- 6 replies

mad moon, now THAT'S the way to wheel n deal. stick to your guns and don't give them any leeway.

i would take pix showing the issues on your nav screen as proof before you take it to the dealer. any dealer that you trust can work on the car, not just the one you bought it from. Galpin is a good one for sure with their high rank and sales experience. Jus has contacts there for you. hope you get it resolved as there is a known fix for it. does it happen all over or just in one location in particular??

TRADED IN THE CMAX FOR A PRIUS AFTER 10 MONTHS
salsaguy replied to MADCMAX's topic in Buying, Order and Leasing
this thread will have to be watched carefully by the mods as it can get out of hand quickly. i agree with the fact that the Prius is a poor substitute for the cmax in every way. the cmaxes have had issues but they have been addressed and the folks here with issues is only a very small sample size of the total population of owners. it is very true that Toyota's quality levels have gone down a lot whereas American cars like Ford have increased lately. there will always be issues with anything that is manufactured by humans. even robotic assembly is not perfect. this car is a computer on wheels.Toyota has had 10+ yrs to perfect the Prius. give Ford a little time to do the same with the C-max. -
we are all rooting for you mtb.we know it's possible.

Gary, you can speed up adding the EV+ location (your office) to the car by turning it on/off 11 times while at the location so you don't have to wait to drive there and back on different days.

Safety of C-Max in a rear impact collision
salsaguy replied to MacMahon's topic in Articles, News & Reviews
this is why the high voltage battery has a kill switch located behind the rear passenger seat to allow the owner or fire/emergency crews to disengage it in the event of a crash. I'm sure it also has a sensor to know when you are in an accident. -
not at how much more they want for the tdi and since my commute to work is only 14 miles from my house to Anaheim it doesn't make sense esp with diesel being 25-35 cents more. I'd have to drive for 100 years to get repayment on the cost diff. nice try stirring the pot though :) need and evil grin emoticon here ( muhahahahaha)

yeah but Jus-tins trip was on 21 miles so thats the amazing part. he (and his perfect route) are simply the best. no question. he OWNS the cmax. it's good mpg slave. his mpg is so good it's illegal in 20 states. :judge: ;)

Jus, thanks alot for this great honor. on behalf of the academy I'd like to thank....... (woops wrong acceptance speech papers, errrr humpf....) no really i appreciate you all welcoming me into your beautiful family and not treating me as an outsider (as im sure it would be the case in the other camp). if you all weren't so great i wouldn't feel so comfortable and wouldn't want to spend many VERY late nights (against my wifes wishes) reading all the great info about this cool car and adding my 2 cents worth. wow has it really been 800 posts by me now !!!!### and we have to thank Jus and all the other mods for keeping it a great place. it's a thankless job for sure as i know as i used to run my own BBS (bulletin board system back in the days before there was the internet and forums like this) and also hosted and moderated several discussion groups during that time. flame wars are very hard to prevent but thankfully they have not reared their ugly head here because of the great mods and users here. it's my pleasure to be part of this family. my wife and i are looking forward to actually officially joining the club one day soon...and maybe meet some of you down the road. [Jus owes me one for flaking out for the Ford event] :) thanks again. congrats to hybrid bear as well. at least his folks have a hybrid. I'm a hybrid virgin for sure :) well just wait till i tell you the story of what happened at the Ford Eco Boost challenge event....... -
there is much more chance of getting ripped off at no name brand / of brand retailers. 7-11 gas and Arco is cheap low quality gas. your car deserves better. doesn't have to be 91/92 octane just 87 regular gas but still good stuff. check here: http://www.toptiergas.com/retailers.html ======================== quoted text ============== That being said... I am not even 100 miles into the tank of 7-Eleven gas, and it is already showing, much worse mileage on the dash. I bet it has much more alcohol in it than the Chevron gas I normally use. My favorite in my Camry was always Shell, but they are just not as convenient to get into on my drive to or from work. But in the Camry, it was well worth the little extra distance as the mileage on the Shell was enough better to easily make up for it, and it was also usually a tick cheaper per gallon. The C-Max seems to like the Chevron, but I have not done 2 to 3 tanks in a row of Shell to prove it out. A single fill never works out so it could be a half gallon difference in the tank due to the shut off system tripping earlier or later. I think this was a big part of why the 7-Eleven fill was much less fuel. It also showed that my distance to empty was a bit low right from the start, even before my average started falling. It is looking like 500 miles may be tight on this tank. It was almost 560 on the last one.

almost a deal breaker for some. verry useful feature.hard to believe they couldn't copy this software for the SEL trim cmaxes. this and the large turning radius are 2 things we are NOT looking forward to. i use cruise a lot. my wife not really so much but once she gets the cmax, I'm sure that will change. btw.... some good news ....her c-max is looking closer now....great 3rd job interview the other day. only 1 more phone interview and she will get the job offer. but she will have a lot more freeway driving to do at this place so... not liking that fact if we do go with the cmax /a hybrid.

so regarding your 45 hp sweet spot, what does that translate to us normal folks? what is the end lesson to learn and now apply to the car? only accelerate to just under 2 bars and let go?
-
recump, did you do a elevation plot of the trip to see how the hills and down slopes affected mpg? you can use the Apple app ski trails or Android app gps essentials to record a track and see the plot of change in elevation.

recump, how will all these mods be affected negatively when you go in for the FE update?? won't the update make doing this worse?? or cancel out the benefits of the fe update? btw, nice job on the mod. brave one for sure to be the first to cut up their car so much without a sure thing not knowing how much it would improve mpgs, or not...
