  1. Add gravity to the potential factors for sensing "faster" acceleration in reverse. My driveway slopes downhill at about 5 degrees (about 4 feet drop in 40 feet), so yes, my C-MAX (or any other car) SEEMS to back up "faster" going downhill than it does going "uphill" to park the car in the same space. The driveway is short, about 40 feet including sidewalk and apron.
  2. ETIS is not the official Ford US owner site. owner.ford.com is the official site. http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/topic/4371-dead-battery-for-the-fifth-time/?p=53888
  3. There is precisely what you describe in the form of a poll in this long-standing forum thread: http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/topic/1294-for-those-who-have-had-12v-battery-problems/page-14?do=findComment&comment=57362
  4. May 2015 update: 1892 C-MAX Hybrids sold, for the 16th best sales month. 715 C-MAX Energis sold, tied for 11th best month. Combined sales of 2607 is the 16th best sales month of the 33 months C-MAX has been on sale in the US. As always, prior month charts and table are removed from earlier posts in this thread because current images contain all prior data https://media.ford.com/content/dam/fordmedia/North%20America/US/2015/06/02/may2015sales.pdf http://www.hybridcars.com/may-2015-dashboard/ http://insideevs.com/monthly-plug-in-sales-scorecard/
  5. Welcome and congrats! I found that bookmarking the manuals online and downloading the pdf files to my various devices makes it MUCH easier to find answers than to trying to use the table of contents of the paper set included with the car. Link to 2014 C-MAX Hybrid and C-MAX Energi owner manual: http://www.fordservicecontent.com/Ford_Content/Catalog/owner_information/2014-CMAX-Owner-Manual-version-1_OM_EN_11_2013.pdf
  6. Welcome to the forum, and enjoy your newest high-tech gadget!
  7. Enter US vehicle VIN here to see active Recalls, Customer Satisfaction Programs, and Field Service Bulletins for US vehicles. No account registration is necessary* https://owner.ford.com/tools/account/maintenance/recalls.html *In fact, the 15B04 does appear here by VIN lookup when not logged in, but does not show up when we login to our account with the same VIN.
  8. Some possibilities: 1. It is early. Your dealer might not have notification yet either. 2. This is NOT a recall, but a 'Customer Satisfaction Program'. Recall involves Ford notifying the government of a 'defect' and the government, after investigation and confirmation of the defect, publishing the notice, CSPs do not. 3. You have a C-MAX Energi, not a C-MAX Hybrid. 4. If a specific component from a specific supplier is identified/suspected, it might only be present in certain models, Equipment Groups, or options. Example: the base AM/FM/CD in the SE Hybrids with equipment groups 200 and 201 is not the same radio as the SE Hybrid with group 202 or 203, nor any of the SEL models. (All C-MAX Energis are SELs)
  9. I'm 62 and the car is 2, so the average age is 32.
  10. Check the initial sale date of the 2014. With the Certified PreOwned extended warranty, it probably doesn't matter much, but if you're still within the first 36 months since original sale, you'd still have ~9,000 miles and some number of months of original factory warranty remaining. If it was my purchase, I'd always go for the pano roof. The option price increased from $1195 on the 2013's to $1315 on the 2014's and newer. It completely changes the perception of the vehicle interior, especially if you carry passengers and take extended trips. If you're virtually always commuting alone, traveling just a few miles, or traveling primarily at night, you would probably not appreciate the difference vs. the increased cost. But if neither vehicle is exactly what you want, just keep looking. There's no hurry, because not much can happen in the marketplace that would suddenly increase used-C-MAX resale prices, short of a sudden gas price increase well beyond $5 a gallon. Right now, there's an oil glut, and it is expected to continue for the foreseeable future. More than 62,000 C-MAX Hybrids and more than 20,000 C-MAX Energis have been sold since introduction, and many were fleet vehicles with panoramic roofs, especially the ones initially delivered in Florida.
  11. And that's exactly why I NEVER purchase gas at a BTW station! ;)
  12. If you wanted a quick response about the Fusion, maybe you should've asked the question in the Fusion forum??? It's called Charge Assist indicator. The feature is described on pages 79-81 in the 2014 Fusion Hybrid owners manual, as well as a description of where within the options screen those things may be switched on and off. http://www.fordservicecontent.com/Ford_Content/catalog/owner_guides/14fhyom1e.pdf
  13. It's always nice to have a good idea of the price of comparable vehicles, and an alternate car or two in mind, just in case 'the great deal' turns out to be far less great than it appeared when it comes time to sign the papers with the 'out-the-door' price at the dealership. Several years ago, I had already filled out the dealer's name on the check for a cash purchase of a used GM vehicle, and I was ready to fill in the amount and sign it when the dealer's scummy Finance & Insurance guy pulled a fast one and had loaded up the final bill with totally profit-generating 'extras' that added over $1,000 to what I THOUGHT was the NEGOTIATED out-the-door price offer signed by the Sales Manager. I walked out with my family and they chased us to my car. The sales manager even called the next day to apologize and take off the 'extras' and lower the price of the car by another $1,000. I told him that if I crawled around in the dirt with snakes, that made me a snake too, and I just didn't deal with snakes. Found a much better deal through ebay the very next week.
  14. Seems like a 'deal', if the car has no accident damage. Here's a similar prior rental vehicle (perhaps the same one?) located near Austin, Texas for comparison: http://www.cargurus.com/Cars/inventorylisting/viewDetailsFilterViewInventoryListing.action?sourceContext=carGurusHomePage_false_0&newSearchFromOverviewPage=true&inventorySearchWidgetType=AUTO&entitySelectingHelper.selectedEntity=c24041&entitySelectingHelper.selectedEntity2=c24041&zip=77004&distance=MILES_150&searchChanged=true&trimNames=Hybrid+SE&trimNames=Hybrid+SE&modelChanged=false&filtersModified=true#listing=109648474 And here is that vehicle's Monroney sticker ("Special Order" usually means it was a fleet or rental purchase): http://services.forddirect.fordvehicles.com/inventory/WindowSticker.pdf?vin=3FA6P0LU5ER308279 More details would be available on a full Carfax or Autocheck report, and the dealer should be willing to provide that to you at no charge to you. Insist on seeing the Carfax or Autocheck report to be certain there is no reported accident damage. That is not an absolute guarantee that the car was NEVER involved in any minor accident, because not all states uniformly report all accidents. Update: The same dealer (Leif Johnson Ford in Austin TX) has 4 2014 used Fusion Hybrids, 2 are Certified Pre-Owned:http://www.leifjohnsonford.com/search/Used+Ford+Fusion+2014%20SE%20Hybrid+tmMT The second CPO Fusion Hybrid listed is actually Ice Storm color (not Deep Blue) and has a moonroof. Full Autocheck reports are available for free viewing on the dealer's website.
  15. And I was correct! The April 2015 sales numbers for C-MAX Hybrid and C-MAX Energi WERE transposed. Monthly tables and charts are now updated with the correct numbers. Table and charts are deleted because most recent images contain all prior data.
  16. Ford announced 1790 combined sales of C-MAX Hybrid and C-MAX Energi for the month of April 2015. 1790 combined sales of C-MAX Hybrid and C-MAX Energi is not unusual. BUT... The breakout of April 2015 figures posted today at Hybridcars.com and InsideEVs.com might be a one-month sales anomaly or simply a bookkeeping error, so I'm not posting the full table and chart just yet, until I've found additional information to verify what has been posted here and here without commentary about any reasons for the drastic change. 553 C-MAX Hybrid sales were reported in April 2015, by far the worst month ever, a 50% decrease from March 2015, and more than 200 units below the previous worst-ever January 2015 sales, if accurately reported. 1237 C-MAX Energi sales reported in April 2015, second largest monthly sales ever, and a 73% increase (over 500 units) above the March 2015 number. So, I think the sales numbers are reversed. It makes more sense that 1237 Hybrids were sold and 553 Energis. Over the last 31 months, the C-MAX Hybrid has quite often outsold the Energi by a 2 to 1 margin, and since introduction about 75% of C-MAX sales have been Hybrids, 25% have been Energi models. I cannot account for the sudden drastic changes from any of the following: 1. Some new "hit" piece targeting C-MAX by ConsumerReports 2. Some huge Ford recall announced with confirmed occupant deaths. 3. That Ford sharply lowered the Energi price (no change March to April to May) 4. That Ford offered huge incentives expiring April 30th and only on Energi models. 5. Fleet sales. 6. Some new twist in Federal or state tax incentives for plug-in hybrids. The only recent 'negative' news about C-MAX was the announced layoffs at the Michigan Assembly Plant, and that on April 23rd, 2015, far too late to significantly affect April 2015 sales. And the better-selling Fusion Hybrid and Fusion Energi models did NOT show a similar drastic changes in sales.
  17. Welcome! These forums and the 'regulars' here are a wonderful resource to learn all about your C-MAX
  18. Register and use owner.ford.com instead. As explained in this thread, etis.ford.com is NOT the official Ford owner site for detailed and reliable North American C-MAX information. For example, many of us with 2013 C-MAX Hybrids are amazed to learn that according to ETIS we actually own 2014 C-MAX Energi Hybrids. Since sometime during the summer of 2014, etis.ford.com information has not and still does not match owner.ford.com information. http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/topic/4371-dead-battery-for-the-fifth-time/?p=53888
  19. The GOOD: An absolute blast to drive. Feels like a much larger vehicle inside, almost minivan proportions. Especially light and airy if you opt for the panoramic sunroof. The BAD: In the beginning it's hard to not treat the car like a videogame, always trying to "beat" your high mpg score and miles-per-tank. Some available dashboard stats and displays can promote 'distracted driving' if you let them. The UGLY: Resale value, if you're buying or leasing and are planning to trade it within ~2 to 5 years. There are thousands of used 2013 C-MAX and C-MAX Energi vehicles from rental and corporate fleets that now have 80,000 to 100,000 miles on them, and are selling at 30% to 50% of original sticker prices. We've had our 2013 SE without My Ford Touch for 13 months and put about 5,500 miles on it. Yes, it is an early 2013 SE model and the 'battery' issue has occurred 4 times. Every single time, it occurred in our home garage, at least 8 hours after being parked. 3 of the 4 times, it was likely water intrusion. After the first occurrence, I purchased a $50 300-amp jump-start battery. No, it doesn't fix the problem, but for $50, it was worth the peace of mind of never being left 'stranded'. If you have the time to shop around, check out cargurus.com. They display how long a given vehicle has been listed, so it's possible to easily locate the vehicles dealers are most likely wanting to move from inventory.
  20. Welcome, and enjoy the ride!
  21. And if you compared the Lincoln variants of the Fusion, the MKZ, both the ICE and the Hybrid are the SAME PRICE:

  23. Not true! The sunglasses compartment is still there. We have an SE (without Homelink buttons, standard on SEL models), so we use that compartment for the garage door remote. Removed the remote metal clip and trimmed some dense plastic packing foam to keep the remote centered and in position.
