I'm not ignoring you CMax-Traveler, honest. I was sorta waiting for Jus to weigh in about the lack of picture, since it's his thread. Maybe we'll hear from him this weekend.

I am certainly not an expert, but I beg to differ with you, based on my own experience. When I got my car back after the 1st upgrade it immediately began to go into EV mode much easier, and I was getting 60mpg on routes that previously were in the 50s at the highest. But I knew the update was incomplete because I could not get into EV over 62mph and my regen miles were the same. After the *do-over* the EV+ locations were gone, regen miles wer -0-, I could get into EV at 70+ mph on the highway BUT the car sounded and drove differently, my MPGs dropped, and it's taken me more than a month of driving for things to come back around to close to what they were before the update and update Part 1.

When in EV mode, cost is about 1/2 that of gas. If you use Value Charging it's about a quarter. ^PP Break-in took a long time on the C-max. Close to 5000 miles for my car. Are there efforts underway to shorten this time? To maximize fuel economy, we minimize the engine run time so the longer break-in time is inherent to great fuel economy ^MH Does it make sense to use to use ECO cruise and grade assist together to improve mpg? It's always a good idea to use ECO cruise whenever you can and you only use grade assist when you're driving on grade. ^JD Is the final drive ratio the same in Hybrid & Energi? No the final drive ratios are different. Hybrid is 2.57:1 and Energi is 2.91:1. ^JD Are you surprised by the CMax community's mixed response to the recent FE upgrade? Most people will experience an improvement but it will vary; it addresses high speed, climate control, short trips ...to know the magnitude of the fuel economy improvement, it's best to let it stabilize over 30 days. In a commute of say 30 miles on the Energi, with 50% highway, should I switch EV off on highway and turn it back on in city? Yes - I would drive in the hybrid EV later mode on the highway and switch to EV now in the city. ^MH Does braking harder generate more current? No - actually braking softer & smoother allows you to recapture more of the available energy. Plan your stops! ^MH What is the anticipated overall battery life? The battery is designed to last for the life of the vehicle. ^MH What's your favorite feature on the C-Max? We just polled the room. ^PP and ^MH love the brake coach feature. ^PP's even gotten 100% score! ^JD loves the one-handed fold-flat rear seat. All agree the car's super fun to drive. What is the proper use of the grade assist button on the C-max shifter and how does it affect fuel economy? With proper use of grade assist button, it allows you to maintain speed downhill & regenerate without driving the brake ^MH Are you getting closer to making hybrids more comparable in price to a gas-fueled vehicle? C-MAX Hybrid is the lowest priced hybrid utility in the market at $25,995. ^PP With newest generation EVs, we've reduced development costs by 25% and continue to work on this everyday. ^PP What is the battery technology that Ford uses for its electric vehicles? We chose lithium ion. It packs more power in less space. The clock in my CMAX Microsoft Sync dashboard is always wrong never in "Sync." Any plans to fix? I had the same problem and the MFT update totally fixed it. It's available at the dealer now. ^MH I had the upgrade too, but SYNC clock still doesn't work and the voice command is useless. Any way we might get iOS in the Car? Can you explain, in layman's terms, the main differences between the Hybrid SEL & the Energi? The features are largely the same, but Energi is a Plug-In hybrid that gives you up to 21 miles of pure EV. My family lives 2000 miles away how many times would I need to recharge on a trip home? MikeKoz, if it's any consolation, I was very disappointed with my MPGs immediately after the upgrade in early August. But, slowly but surely it's crept back up.I cannot account for it......if it's me learning to drive differently (again!) or if the car, as some have said, has to relearn my driving habits. We took a mini-road trip into Detroit this weekend, about 40 miles each way. Ended the trip with 45.6. I don't have a previous trip on this same route to compare to, tho. But, my daily back and forth to work seems to be slowly improving. Tonite's trip home (17.3 miles, country/community roads) was 55.6 mpg). The true test for me is going to be this winter. I got my C-MAX at the end of November last year and drove it thru the winter. We'll see what the winter of 2013-14 brings. I hope your MPGs continue to improve as well.

Congrats GaryM!!! You are now in da club!!! :congrats: And, in case anyone ever wonders, if there are 2 members with the same # of miles per tank, the highest EV miles wins. We've never discussed it, but our numbers are climbing now, so it's inevitable that some will have the same tank mileage, so that's what I use as the next identifier. Hope that's ok w/everyone.

I don't consider myself a hypermiler, but I'm more competitive than I ever knew, as is evidenced by my participation in this challenge and the 600 Mile Club. And, quite honestly, I appreciate what it's taught me about my driving style and more importantly, how to save money! But none of that has taken away from my love for my car! I bought the car, initially, because when I sat in it the first time, it felt *right*. The fact that I could double my miles w/o even trying was a plus. And THEN.....I started learning more about how to drive more effeciently and save even more!! What a deal!! And if I hadn't found this forum, and all the drivers with way more experience than I had, I would still be driving like I used to and being happy with 30+ miles per gallon. Instead, I'm learning new things every day here and getting 45+ miles per gallon to boot. It's just plain fun. And I'm grateful to the high-mileage folks who are so willing to share their knowledge.
