  1. I am feeling that we are going to have a cold snowy hard winter. We had a long hot dry summer that went on forever, and now monsoon rains have hit early. I just feel it in my bones that we will be shoveling this winter. Any other psychics got an inkling?
  2. Great photos. Sort of reminds me of looking at pictures of the Amazon some how LOL.--maybe it's all the greenery, the trees, the hat, the kayak etc. My favourite photos are of your pooch of course.
  3. No we have no options to do that. Hopefully it will be an option in the future.
  4. They don't have studs. Thanks for all the information Frank.
  5. Gee Rachel that is a bummer. In the old days we would check junk yards to find a replacement part, but I guess it's too soon for any C-Maxes to be in junk yard. And I guess they would only use new parts since we are under warranty. Fingers crossed that the part arrives tomorrow.
  6. I bought the Kal Tire package for $1700 including installation. I phoned the dealership back and told them not to look for a better deal than the $3800 as I was buying from Kal Tire. I'm not sure what after market tires are, but I bought Nokian Nordman snow tires with aluminum rims painted silver and they have the pressure sensors too. I
  7. I'm not having fun so far Frank. The dealership just phoned with a quote for tires and rims for $3800! I nearly fainted with that quote. He said he was shocked himself and they will be phoning around and get back to me next week. I have a message left at Kal Tire and he is supposed to get back to me in a few minutes. I haven't heard of Tire Rack but I will google--likely not a Canadian thing. I'm pretty sure my husband did not pay much more than $3800 for his big honking Lexus SUV snow tires with rims. I am not driving a Rolls Royce here, but the price seems to reflect that I am LOL. Update: Kal Tire will put on 17" Nokian Nordman snowtires with aluminum rims for $1700. So the deed is done. They sound totally adequate for my needs and that price includes $200 worth of pressure sensing monitors. I'm happy.
  8. How anyone bought the recommended 17 winter tire size? If so, what did you get and how much did they cost? We didn't put winter tires on last year, but we want to go to snow country this year so want to buy some winter tires.
  9. Interesting Adair. A good point is made by you posting that. One bad incident and the kingdom is lost.
  10. Well I can agree about you not having to shut up, but you are a moderator who has a role that we don't. It is different if I tell Nick or Noah they are full of baloney. If you say it, it is in my eyes an order or strong suggestion that is to be obeyed. You aren't just another guy or the forum. You are an authority figure. My lips are zipped on the subject now that I have said my piece. PS It is the last sentence in unlucky post #13 that made my blood pressure go up. Visitors who are sincere in information seeking on the C-Max want to read the facts and not a bunch of "oh well all is good now and Ford just made some innocent boo boos".
  11. The reason this is a good forum is that we can politely and honestly say what we think. If we say Ford messed up on many things that is what we have experienced and we are not dumping on Ford Jus. We aren't moderators who have to be politically correct. We are members who have lived through the first year of Ford bringing out a new car with all the hiccups that have come along with it. If we have to stop being honest, I will exit this forum. I do not like having to tread lightly because I will be seen as a disloyal Ford buyer.
  12. What flubs and what flaws? http://www.evworld.com/focus.cfm?cid=157
  13. Are you the famous rabble rousing Michael Moore LOL
  14. I hope they readily find the fix Celery. Keep us posted please.
  15. drdiesel1 we all know that the recalls are designed to improve things, but there are a few of us that have had cars that work perfectly. Then we read about all the screw ups when people have gone in for the recalls so that makes us drag our heels. It is not lack of knowledge about the recalls. It is fear that we will be one of the ones who have a dealership servicing nightmare and there are many documented on the forum. I am finally booked for the 16th, but I am worried about outcome as is my husband. Only two hybrids have been sold there since we bought last November so one naturally wonders about expertise.
  16. Jus I think we all should try to be positive in life, but I do think it should be okay to vent here on the forum. We all have had our ups and downs with our beloved C-Maxes. Because we mutter under our breath cursing Ford at times doesn't mean that we are anti Ford. It means that we have an issue and we can often get info. here on the forum if we scream out in frustration. My thread about "unbelievably bad mileage" perhaps should have had a different title so that visitors don't get a bad impression, but I got great info. and learned that cranking up my defrost was the same as cranking up my AC. I want to be able to vent without being too politically correct always. However I would defend Ford and the C-Max to any ill informed person that make any disparaging remarks. Down go my gloves if anyone other than C-Max family makes unfounded comments about Ford or the C-Max, but I am not going to blindly defend their mistakes.
  17. Okay Nick I see what you are saying. I never think about the people that pop in briefly and then leave with their minds made up in a bad way after just reading a sentence or two. It isn't the same as family discussing over the dinner table. I will keep in mind your words of wisdom. I want Ford and the C-Max to succeed. Thanks for a different and better perspective.
  18. No,no fotomoto it is not at all like Dancing With the Stars which I think is kind of stuffy and phony. Battle of the Blades has much more humour and is such a low budget amateur show in comparison. It is so filled with fun and the outlandish things that these tough hockey players say. You never know what to expect and never know when you are going to burst out laughing. But granted it is not a show for everyone. If you don't watch figure skating competition or hockey you probably wouldn't like it.
  19. Battle of the Blades has been on for 4 years, and I think my favourite hockey player partner was Val Bure and he skated with Katia Gordeeva. Beautiful performance. I know Carrie Underwood is married to a Canadian hockey player who plays for Nashville. We Canadians are hockey obsessed LOL. Here is a a clip of Val and Katia http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JKiVRmufh4U
  20. Catsailor what you say is very true. I love so many features in our C-Max i.e. visibility, high seats, pep, the look of the car, the mileage compared to my old car. Like you I think they could have emphasized all of the good things without putting their foot into it like they did. I have always thought that they made a big mistake from day one. We knew when we test drove our car in late Fall last year that the mileage was not going to pan out to be what they cited. But we still loved the car enough to buy it.
  21. It's not often that we Canadians have a show that all of you in the States can't watch. Tonight my favourite Sunday night show is back on. It's called The Battle of the Blades. It is rough tough hockey players paired up with well known figure skaters. Over a period of a couple of months the rough tough hockey players, many of whom have never had on figure skates, almost turn into pro figure skating pairs. It is comical at times, and overall just fascinating. In two months those clumsy macho guys are wearing sequins and boogying and spinning those girls over their heads. It is not without it risks--the odd cheek slashed with a skate and pretty girl dropped on her head. It might be hokey to you all, but I love it LOL. Maybe some of you who live along the Canadian border pick it up? Heartland is my other Sunday night favourite. Horses, pretty girls, and crusty old grandpa. Oh I wish for the good old days.
  22. Me too Adair. I think this forum is very rare in having such a nice bunch. No big egos or mean spirited people.
