  1. Andrew I bet you are right about it being related to the fill up. My husband generally fuels our C-Max and is very careful to put the nozzle in slowly and then takes it out very slowly. So far so good and we are nearly a year into owning our C-Max.
  2. I am no greenie other than compost. I have a fixed belief that all the stuff that we sort for the recycling truck gets dumped in with the regular garbage when they are out of sight. I am lukewarm on LED's. Hated CFL's. Hubby says I prefer a kerosene lantern LOL.
  3. Happy Birthday Max! Sound like you have a keeper.
  4. Sheesh Rachel how disappointing! I think you need a convey of C-Maxes to drive by and then we all stop and moon your dealership.
  5. I have held off too and I am scheduled next Wednesday. Thanks for your feedback. I won't be an nervous about doing the updates now.
  6. Might be hard to pull off Nick. Any grey C-Max with a sunroof and Washington plates will kind of get me waving like a mad woman LOL.
  7. Forgot to say the big tire place I went to today had never seen a C-Max before. They liked it and commented on its pep when they took it out to test the tires after putting them on. They commented on how quiet it was (and that was with the whine so they will be impressed with the regular tires next Spring).
  8. No C-Maxes here to wave at! The only one that we have ever seen was parked and I waited to talk with them. You could tell they thought I was a nut or a stalker. I'm prepared to wave like mad if I ever see another one <g>. Prius V's are taking over here--they are multiplying like rabbits in the last 3 months.
  9. We had the Nokian Nordman snow tires with aluminum rims put on our C-Max this afternoon. Boy there sure is a sound change compared to the original tires. It is a steady whine and I hate it! Hubby said it doesn't bother him and he measured the decibels inside the car, and there was not a significant increase i.e. 52 while idling and 58 while driven at 70 kilometers per hour. However, I find it very annoying as before when in EV it was so silent on the road and now I hear the whine. Is this typical?
  10. mtb9153 are you positive it's not your feet? LOL When my C-Max was stinking a few months ago, it was my Nike flip flops. Oy vey was it wicked. I googled about the brand of flip flops that I wore non stop for comfort, and 90% of the owners had to toss out their flip flops as it was a design issue. I am just teasing you, but truly my problem was my beloved flip flops. When we had the farm, on occasion a mouse would die in the walls and that was pretty dreadful too. But I did read hybridbear's thread about FFH and that seems to be the likely cause.
  11. New snow tires going on this afternoon. Should guarantee a snow free winter in the Pacific North West LOL. But we want to go up to Manning Park with the pooch this winter for some cross country skiing, and down to Cannon Beach on the Oregon coast too. So likely will need them anyway.
  12. I was wondering how that would work out if since they are SE's. One would think that they would find an answer soon for the dead battery issue.
  13. Don I am so sorry about your wife. I have been married to my husband for 45 years. I was just 19 when we got married. He was a young 21 year old Canadian Air Force pilot and I was a nursing student. We just got lucky as we only knew one another six weeks before we decided to get married. My biggest fear in life is losing him. I cannot imagine how hard it is for you to be without your wife after 49 years. Hubby and I are like a pair of bonded swans or some such thing. I'm sure you know what I mean.LOL I think the idea of you getting an Escape sounds like a good one. I am not into the high tech stuff myself. My eyes glaze over when people start talking about it. We drive our C-Max about the same way you drive yours---a couple of trips a day. Best of luck getting things worked out. And keep us posted please.
  14. Sorry to read this Bob. Good luck.
  15. I'm glad for the keyless entry! With your dead battery, it is critical to report it to your dealer and to actually take it in and go on record that you have had a problem. They will never get to the bottom of this serious ongoing problem if people don't report each and every incident. You never know if you will need the documentation down the road.
  16. Nice pictures. I guess all the public vehicles would be SE's?
  17. Just saw this about the door chime recall http://www.clickondetroit.com/money/recalls/ford-recalls-focus-electric-cmax-hybrid-because-door-chime-stays-silent/-/2318488/22259642/-/o9wq4t/-/index.html
  18. I turn the voice off, but hubby doesn't mind her voice.
  19. I think one of the cars up on the lift is a C-Max too. Thanks for posting.
  20. Don wab sent some good references. I can totally appreciate where you are coming from as our C-Max is our only car too. And hubby is 66 and I am 64. I don't think the issues have anything to do with seniors not using their cars causing the issues. Many have talked about being able to leave their cars for several weeks while flying off on holidays. From what I read, the techs are still trying to get to the source of the problems and haven't achieved total success. It seems like they think they have it licked and then another batch of dead batteries appear. Don I do believe that I have read about dead batteries in cars built in the New Year. The majority still seem to be with the SE. However some SEL's have been hit too. I think you should tell your salesman and manager what you said here i.e. you live alone and need to be able to count on your car and not have to worry about having to jump the 12V. Good luck and keep us informed on how things go. If I was the head of Ford I would give you a spanking new C-Max.
  21. Sorry Adair! However, I was listening to the radio this morning and somewhere got 22 inches of snow last night (I was half asleep and didn't here the location). But a few states were hit with extreme weather and Nebraska had tornadoes I think.
