  1. I don't, but the car wash attendants do. No clue as to why.
  2. We're getting a bit off topic, but Consumer Reports, Feb., 2014, really likes the Subaru Forester.
  3. Opening another window will help. I find front and back on the same side works well (when it isn't so darned cold).
  4. I'm glad Ford is returning, in part, to more buttons and knobs. But after reading the linked article, I'm still not sure they get it. To me, the problem with touch-screen controls, is the need to take your eyes off the road. I want controls that are tactile so they can be used by feel rather than sight (or sound; e.g. talking to MFT to set the temperature is. IMHO, just silly).
  5. Slight. Would be better fully closed, but it's been too cold to play around. And I'm not a hypermiler anyway. But it definitely speeds engine warm-up. Engine temp is an option on MyView. Cheers
  6. Yes. it just stays on. I used insulation made for 3/4" copper pipe. It slips over the horizontal fin; I cut slits in back for the vertical fins. One piece came from Home Depot, another from Ace. HD was cheaper. I do know that it's NOT foam rubber material, it's definitely a plasticy foam of some sort. Aha! Found a piece in the basement that still had the label. It's made by Armacell, LLC. UPC code is 8 03014 11798 2. Also has "OES 07838" on the tag.
  7. How's this. Note I didn't extend the insulation all the way to the side and I left the upper grill open. These could easily be covered during the winter with no adverse effect. Just keep an eye on engine temp. Cheers.
  8. Foam split-down-the-side pipe insulation can be used to block the grill without making any structural changes. Cheap, effective, easily removed, survives automated brush car washes, etc. What's not to like? The looks perhaps. PS: It was 13 below at the house yesterday. BN
  9. Although not hybrid related, I thought this worth posting for those Energi owners that may not frequent the Energi-specific forum. Moderator: please remove if deemed inappropriate. Posted today on OASIS: Feb 12 2014 4615 -Hybrid Energi - Oil Maintenance Mode Some 2013-2014 C-MAX and Fusion Energi vehicles may display "oil Maintenance" on the message center, which should not be confused with the oil change monitor. When in this mode the gas engine will run continuously and electric-only operation is not available. This feature maintains oil quality by removing fuel and water from the oil that can accumulate when the vehicle is used primarily for short trips and thus not running the engine at normal operating temperature for adequate time. To complete and exit the oil maintenance cycle, the gas engine must be operated continuously at adequate temperature to remove moisture. A drive of approximately 15 minutes is normally required, however additional drive time may be needed in very cold temperatures. Refer to the Owner Guide for additional details.
  10. This per OASIS: Feb 06 2014 4596 -2013 CMAX - Multiple Communication Codes - Harness Pinch Chafe Points Some 2013 C-MAX vehicles may exhibit multiple diagnostic trouble codes related to module network communication faults. Prior to following normal diagnostics check for possible wiring harness chafes that may be present under the carpet near the driver or passenger front seat frame and near the rear roof pass through to the lift gate on drivers side. If concerns are found, repair the circuits as required following procedures outlined in Wiring Diagram, Section 5-1. If no concerns are found, follow normal Workshop Manual diagnostics.
  11. This has been updated as follows: Feb 06 2014 4594 -2012-2014 Focus, 2013-2014 Escape And C-Max - DTC P1594 Some 2012-2014 Focus, 2013-2014 Escape and C-Max vehicles may exhibit DTC P1594 stored in the Body Control Module (BCM). If there is a symptom of start-stall after vehicle is remote started (within 20 seconds) and P1594 is set in BCM with no other codes, refer to Workshop Manual, Section 414-00, PPT for BCM DTC U1007. Confirm that BCM connections and sensor are functioning properly. Replacement of the BCM without clearing other DTCs may result in a repeat repair. The WSM, Sections 419-10 and 501-14, along with IDS Release 89.01 have updated diagnostic information and detailed snapshot descriptions.
  12. It isn't clear, to me at least, as to which battery group/s will physically fit the C-Max. The original Ford battery is a group 67R, yet there are other references to a group 96R as being appropriate. For those interested, here's good info as to actual dimensions, CCA, reserve capacity, etc.: http://www.batteryplex.com/sheets/BCI_21170_Combined_with_Cover.pdf
  13. I have another suggestion; there should be closing-handles on both sides of the liftgate.
  14. Just make sure you're touching only the outside of the handle. Other than that, check the Maintenance and TSB's forum for info about a recent unlocking issue; it may be related.
  15. It's SSM 44252. Look in the Maintenance forum.
  16. Have you tried dry-gas? Sounds like a bit of water in the fuel. But now that I'm thinking about it, if Illinois requires an ethanol blend then water in the gas tank shouldn't be an issue. Sorry for rambling.
  17. FYI, I just ordered a cabin filter from Amazon; $19.00 with shipping. The vendor (not Amazon) claims only a few are available.
  18. Check the "Infotainment" forum. Also search the forum for "engineering mode."
  19. I think the latch and lock are one in the same electrically operated mechanism. I often give the manual liftgate a quick pull and it won't open. Then I remember and pull slowly to give it a chance to unlatch/unlock and it then opens fine.
  20. FYI, Sirius is again offering 2 weeks free and then 6 months for "$25.00". This is for those of us that don't subscribe. Letter is below.
  21. Check TSB 13-12-13 in the Maintenance & TSB's Forum.
