I'm almost at 9,000 miles and I've seen a sudden jump in mileage. I drive mostly highway miles and my tanks are generally in the 43 mpg range. Suddenly I've hit the bottom 45s. Could be multiple factors. But I'm not sure if it had to do with the upgrade.

I'm using a Target tumbler inside the center console. The mesh pencil holder snaps into the door holder so it's quite firmly sitting in there.

I'll try. So far, I've not been very successful at posting photos. I'm not sure how to do it!

Where in Florida are you, and what kind of driving are you doing? I'm in Orlando and drive mostly on the highway. I'd be happy to hit the 500 mile club.

I loved the Escape. Yes, it is essentially a larger C-Max. I do miss the larger cargo space, but it's not like I use it very often. I was only able to get 25 mpg on my commutes, so there's a huge difference. I had the 1.6 engine. I found it to be plentiful powerful. There was certainly no reason to get the larger engine. It's been so long since I've driven the Escape, I'm not sure how it compares to the C-Max. I find the C-Max to be wonderfully powerful.

I was moving stuff around in the hatch area and noticed that the carpet flap that connects the seat-back carpet and the floor carpet has come unglued. I guess the adhesive actually melted. It's freakin' hot here.

I stopped in at the local dollar store and found they were selling mesh pen/pencil cups. Turns out, these are the perfect size for our cup holders, including the ones in the door. The one I put in the center console is just the right size and it doesn't impinge on any space for my big water bottle. I'll be stopping by the dollar store again tomorrow to buy a few more. :)

I'm glad you're getting some help with the issues. Ford doesn't want the Lemon Law enacted because they have to pay all the lawyer fees. I bought one of the first 2013 Escapes out of the factory, and it was involved in every recall. Finally, I talked to Ford about a buy-back, and they were very, very generous with me. My dealership did everything in its power to help me with the Escape and then with the buy-back, and then with getting the C-Max. As far as I'm concerned, I won. I love this car. If it had known that Ford was coming out with the C-Max, I never would have bought the Escape.

I agree about the leather seats. I hate them. So, I gave up the extras.

Name one like and dislike with your C-Max?

Like: Everything. I love this car. Dislike: I need more storage up front. I love nooks and crannies. I also dislike that I couldn't get a lot of the "extras" because I didn't want leather seats (I was not able to have mine built for me - had to choose from what was already available). And, since I drive mostly on the highway, I would love a bit higher mpgs. -
My right leg and hip are a mess. I found that driving manually really caused more discomfort and pain. So, I use eco cruise whenever I can.

Journey to 800+ Miles on a single tank in a C-Max Hybrid
asb replied to Jus-A-CMax's topic in Fuel Mileage
Once in awhile, if there is horrible traffic on the highway, I can hit 55 mpg on the way home. But since most of my driving is at 65 mpg, I'm happy to hit the mid 40s. I'm still overjoyed with my mileage, but would love to see some of the numbers you guys get. -
Journey to 800+ Miles on a single tank in a C-Max Hybrid

And I'd just be happy to hit 500. But, since I drive 58 miles a day on the highway, I think I'll just live vicariously through you guys. -
Thanks, everyone.

Okay, it's in the upper 90s here, and I'm getting better mileage when I park under a tree at work. Time to get the sun shade. Can someone post the one that fits the C-Max? Thanks.

I do most of my driving on the highway, so I do whatever I can to get into, and stay in, that elusive sweet spot of 65ish. The other day, I was in the middle lane, going 65 in a 55, and a huge truck came up behind me and honked and honked. Dude, I'm in the sweet spot, get into the fast lane and leave me alone.
-
Hm. Well, rain would be a good excuse for me. I'm also having trouble getting in the mid-40s.

It happens to me at one gas station. I don't go there anymore, and I've not had any other problems.

109 degrees + A/C running + City driving = mileage drop
asb replied to wamba2000's topic in Fuel Mileage
Though it's hot where you live, the humidity here is killing me. It's 73 degrees outside in the morning, but I have to run the air because it's so humid, it feels like 90 degrees outside. Anyway, what I've done with the ac is keep it set between 73 and 75 degrees. It cools the car well enough for me and doesn't put a lot of drain on the system. My mileage isn't suffering as much as when I had it set lower. Roll the windows down when you first get in and max the ac for a few minutes. -
So, it looks as if I got approximately 25 more miles this tank using premium. My average mpgs for the tank was 1 mpg more than "normal."

My build date was September 2012 - it has the old system. Dropped the car at the dealer this evening for a two-day upgrade extravaganza. They put me in a Focus. Ack! It's awful!
