  1. Funny, I was in an auto parts store the other day, and I looked at tire gauges. Alas, I didn't buy one. I should have done that. I will start getting around to these leftover car items list. Any suggestions for a good but not expensive gauge that will fit in the holder in the glove box?
  2. I'm no expert, but I a guessing that all car windows already come with some tint. We probably just don't notice it. So, tinters already know how to deal with whether there is more or less tint in the stock glass.
  3. When you get a chance, please post some pics of the seat covers. I am thinking about it. I have leather, which I didn't want but had to get as part of the package of things that I did want.
  4. This isn't exactly hidden, but it was nice to get confirmation that this works. On my second day driving my new C-MAX, I hear a chime, the right side driver screen shows incoming text message and shows the name of the sender (from my synched contacts). I press the OK button, and Maxie (is that the name of the voice?) reads the email message to me. Great to find that it works! :) Oh, new wish list item: being able to dictate a response, and to send it.
  5. I was in Costco the other day, and they had two gallon gas cans right there, just calling my name. I started thinking about it. . . :shift:
  6. Shhhh. Don't bring on evil spirits. :sing_rain:
  7. Nice touch, with the Velcro attachments. Are those seat covers I see in the rear? Which ones? Happy with them?
  8. My dealer is over an hour away. So, my maiden repositioning voyage gave me a chance to test out Highway Fuel Economy on my new C-MAX. For my first trip I was getting 44.5 MPG at about 60 MPH, and this was on a windy day. Today, I had to run about thirty miles or so, for an appointment. I decided to go there on the highway, and come back in city driving. The pics are not so great. So, I'll summarize: On highway, average speed of just below 60 MPH, 47.8 MPG! In city driving conditions, average speed of about 35-40 MPH, 48.0 MPG! This is on a car with less than 300 miles on it!!! :yahoo:  Oh, and by the way, we were having gusty winds all day today, and I am confident that I could have gotten better city MPG due to rush hour starting and an accident or two that blocked traffic along the way. I think this car likes me. :)
  9. Yeah, I don't really know if I will keep it up. I'll at least start, . . . I think.
  10. Good luck on the wait. Mine arrived just over the eight week mark.
  11. This applies to vehicles before which Build Date? Would this show on Etis?
  12. Like the perfect 10 in gymnastics, as soon as Matt sets a new world record, he raises the bar that much higher! Go for it! :happy feet:
  13. Agreed. They should not punish those that are contributing to lessening our dependence of foreign oil, reducing pollution, etc. Yet, as gas tax revenues drop, they have to do something to make up for the lost revenue. Of course, they could just keep adding higher gas taxes to an ever smaller growing pool of taxpayers--as everyone switches over to new technologies--which would bring them back to reduced revenues yet again. So, they could either tax the new technologies or come up with some kind of other tax. Sooner or later, choices will have to be made. There is no fun answer here: bad roads or higher taxes, etc.
  14. Ha! My friend bought a Hummer for cheap, when they were going out of business. We did a trip that was all highway for about seven hours each way. He was getting barely 13 MPG, and that was on the highway! I knew that the upfront money saved would hurt in the long run. I can't believe that he could make a decision like this. Sometimes, there are needs for vehicles like this, and they are great at what they do. However, using something like a Hummer for almost all street driving? :spend:
  15. If my new C-MAX left the dealer with a partially filled tank, a number of miles on the odometer, a number of stats, and then I drive to a gas station, toped off and re-set all numbers, I assume that this first fill counts as my starter tank, and the first Fuelly entry would be done at the next fill, my first clean fill from my numbers, alone. Is this the right way to start off? Thanks.
  16. Oops. I thought that you put the updated version in my Avatar, Your Moderatorship. :worship: So, I accidentally deleted the email with the revised pic. Please email again, if you still have it.
  17. It was cloudier than usual yesterday, and it only hit 87F. So, I was able to set the Air conditioner to 73F, and to have the fan on about number three speed. (I think the clouds and tinting allowed for this.) I did use Recirculate. I also used Eco Cruise on the highway portions (though there were a lot of times that I was looking at the screen and thinking to myself, "Really? No EV here? I could surely do better than this.") Yes, it is pretty flat down here. I sure hope the MPGs don't drop when it climbs to our typical 92-94F for this time of year. It seemed that I could not get meaningful EV at 63 MPH, which is why I dialed it back to just above 60. It was quite windy yesterday. So, I have a feeling that this could account for the max EV speed limit being a little reduced. Once I got down to city driving, the MPGs were going up, up, up. I have to do some more highway driving today. Today is a rainy day. It will be interesting to try to learn highway driving under these conditions. Overall, it seems that learning to find the right balance for highway speeds and techniques will take a while.
  18. I didn't realize that it didn't take the new size until after saved. Jus, you can disregard, unless you want to fix it up better than my simple re-size. Thanks. That's Slowpoke, my cocker spaniel that you see with me in the pic. He was supposed to be my first of many foster dogs. Of course, I immediately got weak, and I couldn't go through with giving him away. That was 2.5 years ago. He drove from Miami to New Hampshire and back with me, last year. I can't wait to take him on some great cross country trips in my new C-MAX!
  19. I have been trying to crop and shrink a photo to use for my Avatar, but I can't seem to get the photo down to 50kb. Running a PC. I have Photoshop Elements, and some other basic editors, but I am no expert in dealing with this stuff. Not sure how to make the photo go down to size. Any ideas?
  20. Tint is pretty much an absolute must around these parts. I like how it came out, and it goes nicely with the roof.
  21. Make a service appointment. The dealer will do these updates.
  22. Now that my new C-MAX is finally here :yahoo: , I just want to say thank you to everyone for sharing your valuable knowledge of the C-MAX. This Forum is such a great and valuable resource! :worship: Thanks to what I have been able to learn here, my dealer was surprised, to say the least, at how I was ready to drive off the lot without needing the usual vehicle tour. I got in, remembered to put my foot on the break to start, paired the phone and synched the contacts, and was pretty much ready to go. (NAV was a new item that was not in my 24 hour test drive vehicle. So, I did appreciate his briefing on that and some of the other features.) I gave full credit to this Forum as the tremendous resource that it truly is, and told representative that this would be a great place for anyone thinking about the C-MAX to get solid information from actual drivers. I am trying to put to good use all that I have learned. So, since we were sitting with the air conditioning running while doing the vehicle delivery, I left the dealership, ran down the road charging the batteries, and then I found a gas station for the first fill up. I reset all information including lifetime (which I would never have known about without this Forum), and drove the almost 85 mile trip home, making two stops along the way to show my new C-MAX to family members. On my maiden voyage of probably 85 percent highway (AVG @ 60 MPH) miles after the reset, I am already getting 44.5 MPG. Thanks again! :)
  23. My newly arrived C-MAX was apparently built before the liftgate update, because is shows on my list. Great find on the site, ArizonaEnergi!
