  1. Why, because there's 1 known reported issue with a 14 ? I've had a 2013 NRG and came back and bought a 2014. Never had problems with either one. It's a great car and if you let 1 known issue stop you from buying one, good luck. You'll be missing a great car. Maybe a Tesla might be a good car, but alas, they have 12V battery problem too.
  2. Sweet. Now get some air in your tires. They're rated to 51 psi ( I run 55) so you should add some IMO. The door label has a set pressure of 35 psi. It's like driving a bowling ball at 35 psi. You'll get better mpg's, handling and tire life running a higher psi. Remember, the tire is rated for 51 psi, so find something you're happy with and check them regularly.
  3. When modules are re-programmed they lose the KAM (keep alive memory) When the KAM get's reset, the module needs to relearn all the plotting that was done over time. These cars are adaptive and it takes time for them to relearn. If it was my car, I would reset all my MPG data and start over. Otherwise the learning process looks like a downturn in you MPG data storage.
  4. You do know the NRG comes with a 120 voltage charging cord, right ? Most condo's have a 120 volt outlet in/near the parking stalls. The supplied charger has a 25 foot cord. If an outlet is close, just plug it in.
  5. You don't need to switch back and forth to gain an EV charge buildup. Just leave it in EV later and continue to build it.
  6. It's a shame they just keep replacing that battery. I don't think they're testing your car for a parasitic draw. Too bad. Sorry you've had this problem. It's tough when you have parts changers at the dealerships, but that's about what the job has turned into nowadays. Kids working for low pay and your vehicle is nothing more than a guinea pig.
  7. Nope! I just love the C-MAx and there is a lot of good information and activity on this site. It's the same car except for the added battery/EV feature :shift: Oh and the trans pump :love_shower:
  8. I was at the Chevy dealer looking at a new Malibu Eco when a lady drove up in a C-Max Energi, so I asked her how she liked it and she was very happy with it. I didn't even know it existed until she parked it in the lot next to me. After leaving the Chevy dealer and waiting to see what they had to say about financing, I went the next day to look at the C-Max. I had a deal set, but the owner of the dealer changed the deal on me. I had to go to another dealer and made the purchase of my 2013 NRG. I haven't looked back since. Sold the 13 and picked up the 14. Wouldn't even consider another car at this point and I had never considered a Ford before. I really enjoy my NRG and like how Ford Credit handled both deals :happy feet:
  9. It's become NRG, just like all the other acronyms since the early 80's and especially in the hybrid sites.
  10. Nope. It has an electric heating element with a closed loop control valve to circulate coolant into the heater core without warming the engine block. It works off the HVB power supply.
  11. They filed a warranty claim to get paid, but will try to get paid from you too. They hope you're foolish enough to fall for this type of swindle tactic. Amazing as it sounds, some people will pay it and never question it. That charger looks great @ 55 bucks now, huh ;)
  12. Don't pay it. The car is under warranty and they're just trying to get free money. Did you sign an R.O. with a dollar amount on it ? Or was it a zero dollar warranty R.O. ? Gotta watch these shady rip-off dealers. I had a new BMW motorcycle with a bad front tire and when I came back the next day to complain about front end vibration, the SA tried to get me to sign an R.O. for $85. I about tore his head off for even mention a dollar amount on an R.O., on a new bike. I work in the industry and told him I would report his underhanded dealing to the B.A.R. and he quickly changed his tune. I hate sleazy dealers/people that think they can take advantage of people.
  13. With the NGR you can add EV miles to the battery after the hybrid portion has been filled up. I have been able to add 7 miles of EV power by regen on hill descents out here in CA. I could have managed more, but wanted to use the EV power. The other advantage of the NRG is if you live in an area that has carpool lanes, it qualifies for HOV stickers (here in CA anyways) so you can run the lane with only 1 person in the car if you get the stickers. IMO, the rebates on the NRG make it about the same price as a Hybrid. You could always change area's/living places in the future and utilize the EV charging part of the car. If you didn't buy the NRG, you wouldn't be able to if things changed. The price aside, I would only buy the NRG.........It's the only choice for me even if, I couldn't use the plug-in charging right away. For me, battery overhead is the only shortcoming of the Hybrid C-Max. You'll learn to add EV mileage to the battery over time and you'll be glad you purchased the NRG, IMO :happy feet:
  14. Actually, they're not. It's to be expected with a new model and all new cars have updates available for the control modules. New models always have a few recalls, even if they're nothing more than a control module recalibration.
  15. Who's the publisher of said reports. Both my cars have been problem free. 2013 and 2014 C-Max NRG's :wub2:
  16. Today's cars have lots of electronic control modules that run required functions after shutdown. Just because you can hear something running after you turn it off, isn't a sign of a problem. That's why you should monitor it and make sure it turns off before you assume it's a problem. It could be the fan as you say and it could also be the EVAP system running a leak detection cycle on the system. Cycling the key on and off only interrupted it cycle. It's not proof of a fault. That's why you wait and see if it turns off by itself.
  17. For 55 bucks, I wouldn't use a cheap POS on my vehicles. Knowing your battery is properly charged and maintained is worth more than a few bucks.
  18. We have had a drop in gas prices about .30 cents from 4 buck plus on average. I stopped at a red light and looked at the pandemonium going on at a corner gas station :drop: I have almost 1200 miles on my C-Max and was thinking to myself about how I don't really need to be stuck in that situation much anymore. My C-Max is a great car and it's currently the only car, I could consider owning. I sold my 13 and had to replace it within 4 months with the 14. I have not had any problems with either car, but the 14 is a 303A package and it's fantastic :happy feet:
  19. You should have waited to see if it turned off after 5 to 15 min,
  20. Is an actual charger or just a battery tender. You'll need a charger capable of about 15 amps to properly charge it. Tenders don't have the ability to properly charge a battery. They keep the voltage up in float mode, but only produce 1.25 amps. Here's an image of the power stud and the ground stud located under the hood. Just hook up to them for charging.
