Name one like and dislike with your C-Max?

Like: The best car for me :happy feet: Dislike: Keeping it clean ;) -
Buy this and use it to keep the 12V battery charged. You'll need to let it run until the green charged light comes on. I don't trust the dealers to properly charge a battery. I've worked at the dealers for too long and I have never seen a car get properly charged. They throw it on the charger for a short period and ship it. With this charger you can hook it up and let do it's thing. You can also periodically check the battery SOC. This will give you an idea of how often to use it. I regularly check mine about every month just to make sure. Even if it's not too low, I'll charge it. It only takes a little effort to keep it maintained and you'll have less issue's until something is found to correct it. If it's parked with a proper 12V input, the car will not move if the battery dies. IMO, the dealers don't check the cars for battery SOC before delivery. They won't do anything they can't get paid for, so it's left to you. I always charge my new car batteries. I usually service my batteries a few times a year with my micro processor charger.

Yep! My 2014 is Platinum White :wub2:

I just did this when I purchased my new truck. I sold my C-Max NRG to buy the truck and turned around and purchased a 2014 Buick Verano (standard gas car) and drove it for 4 months. What a terrible car and idea that was. I got rid of it and repurchased another NRG. My 2014 NRG wound up costing me 4K more than the Buick. IMO, it was worth every penny. Money isn't everything in this case. I absolutly hated that car and it's poor MPG numbers. 17.5 mpg from a 2.4L and it never got better as it was breaking in. I think the 4K can be recouped pretty quickly...

For Those Of You Who Drive Majority/Mostly Highway Miles...

I get great MPG with mine...... -
If he already owns a Prii, why get rid of it to get another car that gets less mileage and will cost extra money ? Continuing to driving the Prii would be the best way to go. Even if it's a POS. Any savings will be lost to replace it :spend:

My system is the Sony MFT with NAV. It's up to date as far as firmware. Like I said, the Nav map software has nothing to do with the systems firmware. It's for MAP display only. -

^^^^ Yes and the C-Max is a great car as well as being a high tech machine. Don't be so hard on it. It's a good car if you think about it. Yes, they have updates and a few recalls, but it's normal. Yes, it's an inconvenience to take it in. It will get better ;) I'm lucky as I own the Ford IDS and update my own car. I hate letting anyone touch my vehicles. My 2014 Ram Diesel Pick-up has a recall and 4 updates, but I'm in no hurry to take it to the dealer. I hate the way they handle vehicles. The lot is too small and the last time I had a car in for service, they door dinged it. IDIOTS! -
IMO.... With the foul weather you have in the winter time, I would recommend the Escape.

All these recalls ????? What, maybe 3 recalls ? OMG! I hate to tell you, but any first year model will have recalls and updates. All cars will have firmware updates. Lots of cars have recalls too and can happen anytime. GM is a good for instance :spend: I'm still installing updates on 2005's and up vehicle everyday. It's a common practice on computer controlled vehicles. Maybe a 41 DeSoto would be a better car in you situation as you are often complaining about the C-MAX for normal and common service requirements in today's automotive industry. You won't find a new car that has ZERO recalls or ZERO updates. The DeSoto won't :drop: -

Ver. 5 of the nav software has nothing to do with the cars software. I am running ver. 4 of the nav software, but it's not gonna change my nav systems firmware or what displays in the settings menu. The nav software only changes the maps (new roads ETC.), POI's and other map display info. Your so called tech is a little confused. ;) -

MFT says it's Gen-II Ver. 3.6.2. That's the latest on the website and it was installed when the car was built on May 24th of 2014. Someones feeding you a line of crap. ;) -
I don't look at the PRNDL or the shifter. I have a habit of knowing what gear it's in when moving the shifter :love_shower: My scan gauge covers the PRNDL, so it's not an issue for me. Happy Motoring :victory:

Most low tech vehicles have a plane jane steering wheel that you can see though. The C-Max has a lot of tech on the wheel, so it takes up some visual real estate. I don't have a problem with it, but YMMV! I find it very easy to turn the wheel,,, if needed ;)

As stated above ^^^ you can just turn the voice volume down with the audio knob while the voice is active. Who's not running the latest software ? Me? -
I don't understand this. It has a PRNDL on the cluster that indicates gear range. It has lighting to indicate what gear you have selected. It's straight in front of you. Couldn't you just turn the wheel to a little to see it instead of craning around it ? Sometimes the simple things escape us all to easy. You're not moving while changing gears and the wheel will move past the indicator without much effort. I suggest trying to lean something new. It certainly can't hurt. You've made the step into the technology of a hybrid, so just keep an open mind. I know we dislike change, but the shift indicator is there the same as all cars. Turn the wheel that little bit and it's 100% visible. Try it ;) As far as the DHA system goes, you don't need to turn it off at the bottom of every hill. Leave it on while driving in area's that have hills. You won't hurt it. That's what it's for. I only turn it off on flat roads, but if it's a mile or two between hills, I still leave it on. As far as the clunk is concerned, are you stopped when it clunks ?

The shifter is clearly marked on the console and it has a shift indicator on the cluster. What more do you need :drop: Are you deactivating the HDA while on a hill/decelerating ?

Eco-cruise mpg "sweet-spot" or Instant MPG calculation glitch?
drdiesel1 replied to kostby's topic in Fuel Mileage
You're getting battery/ev assist and that won't last long ;) -
If you have a battery charger, you should charge the 12V battery. Sounds like it's a dead 12V battery problem. Here's where to hook it up under the hood near the drivers side headlamp
-
The 12V battery is not the starting battery. The 12V battery controls all the vehicles electrical systems, the same as a conventional vehicle. The HVB (high voltage battery) is the battery that actually starts the ICE. The 12V battery power is what feeds the controller that activates the HVB contacts to allow it's voltage to come on line. That power spins MG1 in the eCVT and that's how the ICE is started. Without power from the 12V battery, those contacts won't close and the HVB power will not be available to power MG1, to start the ICE.
