And this is why it's my last Ford product
drdiesel1 replied to valkraider's topic in General Discussion
I like my Sync system and it's always worked for me. I'm not gonna run off the cliff because Ford has updated the system to another one after 10 years. It's normal evolution and anyone that expects them not to replace system devices is off their rocker. So what if your MFT has been replaced and you can't change it to the new system. Try that with your computer and see where you get. IIRC, Intel has managed to do this about every 3 to 5 years without fail. Sure, you can get the latest OS, but will your 10 year old PC run it............ NOT :drop: If you like the aftermarket crap so much, just remove the Ford system and add whatever junk you want. The same thing will happen with it......... :spend: Abandonware......................OMG! -
Sorry, but you are wrong about it not costing them anything. First they pay for the scan tool. About $15K. They pay for the ability to use the scan tool through Fords website. It's about $800 a year. They pay the tech that uses the tool and his training also. He takes the time to perform the work and they pay for the power needed power the scan tool and the lights need to see what they're doing. They also pay for the internet access, the property taxes and building your car is now in. Don't forget the service writer that took your info and made the R.O. on the printer. That way the tech knows what to do. Gotta pay for everything these days. Do you work for FREE ????

Engine/Transmission Cover Shield
drdiesel1 replied to brau5273's topic in Maintenance, TSB's & Recalls
They removed it to gain access and left it loose. IMO, they're responsible for any damages. -
I run 55 psi in my tires. I drive an NRG and I average 75 mpg's all the time :happy feet: You're correct..........The C-Max is a great car. 188 horsepower will stomp on the competition :yahoo:

Hahahahaha! The only "universal" info is misfires and emissions system dtc's as far as the DOT regulations. Everything else is considered proprietary information and not required to be available unless you're will to pay for it. Sanp-On, Auto Engenuity and maybe a few other scan tools, might have upwards of 80% to 90% info coverage. The only one that has 100% is the Ford IDS scan tool. It's the factory tool. Save your 18 dollars for gas or lunch.
-
Be aware that most generic scanners won't read most proprietary DTC's. Don't be surprised if the 18 dollar toy comes back with not DTC's stored. Take it to the dealer and have them record ALL the stored DTC's and information from all the control modules. Make sure they're aware you want a copy of everything in the systems. This is information you'll need to know if this fault resets after a fix, or if it's a new issue if the light comes back on later.

Can Steering Effort be Lowered for Disabled?
drdiesel1 replied to eldrijt's topic in General Discussion
No! -
It's what I chose to do. You can do whatever you like.

I run 100% synthetic Royal Purple 0W20 and change it every 5K ICE miles or every 12 months. It's cheap insurance and I don't worry about acid's attacking the oil seals and causing oil leaks.

Checking software update and recall history?
drdiesel1 replied to SPL Tech's topic in General Discussion
Take it back to the dealer and have them run the Oasis information on the car. I would request them to plug the IDS into it and check for ALL module updates ;) -
I check my motorcycle before every ride.
-
I check mine every month.
-
I run 55 psi. Great wear and traction. I only have 2K miles, but they look perfect.

The 2013 hybrid and Energi had different final drive ratio's. 2014's have the same 2:91 final drive ratio.

What's the coolest car you've ever driven?
drdiesel1 replied to Ruby14SEL's topic in Lounge: Off-Topic
I remember driving Corvette's and Camaro's in the 70's as a young GM dealer technician. I drove a Ferrari and hated it. My coolest car was a 1993 Corvette ZR1 with the LT5 ;) It made 405 bhp. My coolest car now is my C-Max Energi :happy feet: -
This blows: XGPSX out and car jus out of warranty
drdiesel1 replied to Jus-A-CMax's topic in Audio, MyFord, Navigation & SYNC
The SPW is for SOLD parts. Not new car warranty replaced parts. Anything repaired under warranty is cover by the vehicles warranty period. This unit was not SOLD to him. It was warranty replaced. Gotta watch the working in these documents you're digging up. This one applies to all purchased parts as if the car was no longer under warranty. -

After the modules are off, they will sleep and this in effect is similar to a reboot. -
Other / Former Vehicles / Toys.... Post 'Em Up!

I have a few :) -
The tax credit isn't a $4K rebate. You can't figure it as $4000 bucks in your pocket.

The warranty resets on the GPS from the date and mileage it was replaced. -
I have an Energi and purchased it specifically over the hybrid for 1 reason. Better MPG's... The EV capability has been a 100% match for my use/needs.. It's been the perfect vehicle for me and the MPG's range from 999.9 to 88.0 I have 2000 miles on it and still have a 1/4 tank of the dealers gas. It's 50 x better than any Prii :love_shower:

What really amazes me........ They sent the second owner a check in July, but I have yet to receive anything. I purchased my 2013 in Aug. of 2013 and the second owner purchased the car in April of 2014. He's been paid before me. This is really a horrible deal and Ford had really dropped the ball on it and me too. I am a reasonable person, but this is beyond belief.
