  1. Here's where I see that its not designed for extreme weather like unplowered snow and I'll keep it simple. Check out the space between the tire and wheel well. It's way smaller than typical which makes it tough to put the cable chains on and take it off - and I have mid size hands and not Mr.Gorilla hands here. And I'm not even trying to get any real chains on and my cable chains are the low profile ones. To take it off, I need my wifeys smaller hands to fit in there. Now in the slush, freezing and crap that makes it even tougher to do the chains. Most SUVs have more clearance while hybrids has less to make the car more aero. I've seen my friends Prius and they have more room in the wheel well for their chain...so go figure Ford. Thats jus my take but I don't live in the snow, jus visit it for the major vacations...
  2. It could be, this is LA  Who knows what crap they pump into the atmosphere, here :secret:
  3. A very warm WELCOME to our wee forum MomsHugs. Nice to see a very knowledgeable CMax owner who did the research. I too was won over by the CMax by the power & driver and I :love_shower: my 8" MFT with the navigation, voice command  I live in Prii city here in Los Angeles and many times, they have passed me. While I can drive faster, I choose instead to drive ECO and rack up the MPG numbers. I see the V and I think it really does look weird - more like one of those European cargo commercial delivery cars than an actual family car. But who cares, they chose the V and I chose the CMax and I am enjoying my EV and saving gas & environment, and if I choose, I can flat toast the V off the lights - if I so choose. They can't ;) ...oh wait, is there a BUTTON for that? LOL - there you go, I gave you a joke play on your Prii owning friends.... PS if you look around, you will find some SPECTACULAR photos and posts here (hint, hint, hint). Look and be rewarded. ...so welcome, join our community of CMax owners and who knows, we may see you in our CMax 600+ Club ;)
  4. Welcome to our wee forum :) We have a lot of drivers in the north east, and there are threads of the CMax in the snow. I'll be blunt with you - the CMax hybrid is more a city car, its never designed to handle unplowed snow. Whilst I have taken many trips to Mammoth Mountain where it does snow and I am there with my family for some nice skiing & snowboarding - our CMax handles superbly. I have no issues with the traction control or handling in the snow, somestimes unplowed but Caltrans does a damn fine job usually. Also, you have to know that ANY hybrid will have poor MPG in the snow unless you specifically kit it out with grill covers or block heaters or garage your car. Hybrids were originally designed for the "warmer" cities such as Los Angeles and the MPG numbers will be down when its snows such as Chicago, MI etc. Check out the threads and posts here by JohninOhio, Adair, catsailor. I think we even had an owner in AK, Don. In regards to reliability, I have nearly 34K on my odo and I owned it since Dec 2012, I have only 1 minor issue with a GPS module replacement but NOTHING since then. There are a few posters here with above 50K in miles and they have reported little to zero problems. There are some concerns & pain with some early 2012 & 2013 CMaxs having dead battery issues. We have no idea what the percentages are of the CMax population has these issues but its resulted in a some buy backs as reported by some posters here. I do not have this issue and my car was built in October 2012, its FLAWLESS while some posters here are in irate. I think the feeling is that the SE models have more chances of a dead battery, most SELs do not. Now, you may ask what is Ford doing about it - they are aware of these issues and are on it. Some posters reported some resolution while others continue to report the same issue. Nonetheless, Ford was also kind enough to send a company representative here on this forum for those who have any issues with their CMax...the latest one is Crystal. Some posters here have used them to get additional attention to their issues if the dealers are not of any help - unfortunately, not all dealers are "up to Par" as we found out - so I suggest finding a reputable Ford dealer who know what they are doing and have been in the industry for sometime - is - imho, just as important as the price. So after all that spiel...do your reading here, feel free to post any questions and posters will chime in with their experience & input.
  5. kostby - there are a lot of "Area51" stuff on this forum...u jus gotta find it. After all, no one is going to hand you golden nuggets.... Now, I really miss the Ice High MPG, it was really a nice feature which has since - imho - been lost with eV now to 82mph. I don't care that others may say its still alive if you bleep the pedal but I have never got it the running MPGs as high and I know how to charge to an almost full SOC and feather the pedal.
  6. Update Post #1. :congrats: welcome to the club, don't go crazy with the drinks and do a Wnuk, k :stirpot:
  7. Another PB...91.6MPG, finished the day with 66MPG into the garage :drop: Came out of nowhere but it was a pleasant surprise :)
  8. Well, if YOU ALL WANT the CMax to continue, do your bit... Be positive and speak positive. And have fun. I have seen a lot of negativity, even here on this forum since we are diverging into a more pc world where even the last person with a million contestants deserves jus a big a trophy as #1...you get my drift. Jus 1c :) ps I jus scored another PB driving to work 2 days ago but the photo host is not co-operating with the sharing. Amazing, amazing Maxine and I had no idea how it happened.
  9. ...thats right! Not possible, according to our most illustrious, all knowing, all powerful toaster review specialists :baby: So now take a measuring roller and redo all those 4500 miles to make sure that even that is right ;) ..and lay off that whatever-drink they are serving in that 600+ CMax club :)
  10. I dunno...look at the Prius when it WAS designed as a hybrid
  11. :gold_star: Genius in the making...me like
  12. EV from standstill to 10mph is keeping up with traffic, at least here in Los Angeles. However, if you can manage 15 mph (traffic allowing) and then kick in ICE to 35mph at 1.75 to 2 bar (rear traffic dependent). Try that. Even better if you can manage 20mph in EV from standstill - that is optimal. Jus' 2c ;)
  13. Who needs artificial, LCD leaves...when you can have - REAL - leaves. Yes, they are coming into Maxine though ever the gap. Don't know why..but maybe parking under a tree when its 100+ heat here may have some wee-thing to do with it :) ps guys with less than 10K on the odo, don't fret about the Lifetime MPG. Remember, you are NOT suppose to be above 38MPG, not possible says you-know-who. If you do, thank the Lord and Ford for such a great car
  14. With the looks, yeah, the camo is designed to do that...so see it with "filtered" eyes. The CMax is unique, a blend between a box, aerodynamics and hatchback - it really took me a long time to get use to the body shape & style. Even now, I go "huh" but I appreciate the thought and design much better than I did at the start. I think the performance and handling WOW me more than the grill or body shape. So I'll wait and see - at this rate, I think a 2017 is more the model for me and I doubt the 2015 will beat what I am getting in the city anyway. Freeway is another story. Thanks for the links OP!
  15. :congrats: Ok, lets welcome vmmvmm as the latest member of the 600+ CMax club and snakebitten to the 700 Bar...where the drinks are a little colder and they serve appetizers, I think ;)
  16. You're welcome and you will. Snakebitten has done it and he's a youngen...nothing like catching up to ole farts like us ;) Now if he would only post his stats for that.... :jump_earth:
  17. Exactly. Thanks for making my point again. Plus your NRG is 300lbs more heavier for the bigger battery on top of the load & different gear ratios and throw in a roof rack. I truly question how their :airquote: professional or :airquote: staff or :airquote: whatever drivers got that figure on what I can see is a FLAT, circuit with NOTHING in the car. Of course there MAY be extenuating circumstance to justify and backup their 38 MPG like perhaps the driver wore lead shoes & socks or was a recanting dropout from the Biggest Loser show...oh, I get it ;)
  18. No worries, post it here if you have improved, that's what its all about. I'll update it. @vmmvmmm - Looking SWEET, :shift: Jus Do It :headspin: And oh - everyone, please PM Adair, you local & very friendly Moderator to return soon and carry on the updates ;)
  19. I use to roll it but folding it works better. Plus it sits better on the window. There are vertical creases there anyway and I see nothing wearing out and I use it every work day since I've owned the car in Dec 2012....but if you're a stickler for rules...look :detective: elsewhere then I suppose.
  20. HeatShield, just fold it. Awesome, especially in the Los Angeles 100+ heat.
  21. Oh yes...one of these :flirt: babies... :love_shower:
  22. ps all you new members, you'll NEVER get a job at Consumer Reports for your pathetic driving above the :worship: Consumer Report CMax Rated :baby: 38MPG. Shame! :victory:
  23. Ok folks...Post #1 UPDATED :) So lets welcome the following new members to the CMax 600+ Club: TheXym Wnuk snakebitten From Speed6ing 2 C-Maxing Enjoy your drinks in bar folks. Congratulations to  rjdeeme29  for being KING of HILL in the 600 Mile Bar :congrats:
  24. @Kelly - I :lol2: so hard at your post. Thanks! I live in Prii city (forgive me Nick if the OVERWHELMING persuasions from all the Prii owning drivers here, u have no idea how POLLUTED it it here... :shift: ) so, imo, that about sums up most Prii drivers here. Mind you, I too had a taste of a 09 Prii, wasn't a bad car but I nearly went out of gas thinking a 1/4 tanks would do a 30 mile run on 3 bars (or something like that). . Nope...flashing :airquote: i need gas, i need gas on the way home...handling, wtf is that?!?!?
