  7. C-Max transmission is being replaced under warranty. It's been at the dealer for almost a month (new transmissions are not easily obtained). The dealer has provided a loaner and has been as responsive to my needs as can be expected. I've asked for an eight year, 100k warranty on the new transmission; time will tell how far I get with that request. As to symptoms, the most repeatable was a "ballsy" grinding noise when the car was barely moving, i.e. at a walking pace. If you hear this get your car to the dealer. All-in-all, a bummer, but being handled well IMHO. I surely do miss the C-max; the Fusion loaner pales in comparison.
  8. Publication Date: November 13, 2014 FORD: 2013-2014 C-MAX, Fusion LINCOLN: 2013-2014 MKZ This article supersedes TSB 14-0176 to update the service procedure due to service tool compatability. The noise may be present in all gear ranges including neutral when the vehicle is moving, but will not be present when the vehicle is stationary or in Park. ACTION: Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition. SERVICE PROCEDURE With the vehicle at operating temperature, road test the vehicle and lightly apply the brakes from 48-16 Km/h (30-10 MPH). The engine shuts-off on deceleration when the vehicle is at operating temperature. Is a thumping/rubbing or grinding noise present? No - this article does not apply. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 307-01 for normal diagnosis. Yes - proceed to Step 3. Install new transmission assembly. Refer to WSM, Section 307-01. Flush transmission fluid cooling system. Refer to WSM, Section 307-02.
  9. ArizonaEnergi, thanks for the excellent pictures and description. Cheers and Merry Christmas.
  10. Yes and no. Some codes are standardized by EPA; others are manufacturer specific.
  11. Actually, plain-vanilla SEL's (such as mine) come with MFT but without navigation. And you are correct in that SYNC directions are tied to a single phone, even though multiple phones can be paired to MFT. Allowing multiple "SYNCed" phones has been suggested in the how-to-improve-the-C-Max forum.
  12. Actually, it raises the threshold. I.e. the engine will not turn on as soon/easily.
  13. Would simply turning off the climate control system accomplish the same thing?
  14. In modern cars, the fuel pump is inside the fuel tank so the fuel actually helps cool the pump. As the fuel level approaches empty, the pump becomes exposed and thus isn't cooled as much. The result is reduced pump life. My personal rule-of-thumb is to fill-up when the guage turns yellow. Most cold-weather drivers know, an empty tank is an invitation to a frozen fuel line. Hence the advice to keep the tank half-full in the winter. While still good practice, evaporative fuel systems and ethanol blend fuels have largely eliminated that concern.
  15. Coolant temp is available as part of MyView. See owners manual for details.
  16. FYI, coolant temperature can be added to MyView. See your owners manual.
  17. I can't imagine your frustration. There's no way I would have been this patient. Knock-on-wood, my SEL is over 2 years old and I haven't had a battery failure (yet?). And, for what it's worth, my phone charger is never unplugged (from arm-rest cubby). And I agree, a booster pack, trickle charger, whatever, is not a solution. Workaround, yes; solution, no.
  18. Thank you so much. I, and many others here, will benefit from your "for-fun project." Cheers.
