For Those Of You Who Drive Majority/Mostly Highway Miles...
fotomoto replied to AMA904's topic in Fuel Mileage
Here's probably a worst case scenario: Driver (wife) is a lead foot who doesn't really care about mpg 99% hwy commute car is parked in sun during day hot temps=heavy a/c use very windy (20-25mph is typical) 70-75mph jackrabbit starts/stops 34-35mpg -
Hello and welcome to the site! :happy feet: Please share this with our Energi owners on our sister forum: http://fordcmaxenergiforum.com/

Eco-cruise mpg "sweet-spot" or Instant MPG calculation glitch?
fotomoto replied to kostby's topic in Fuel Mileage
Jus-A-Cmax discovered this a good while back. The quick synopsis: build up to a little more than 3/4's full battery at highway speed, select eco-cruise at 70mph and then reduce it to the 66-68mph zone without letting it drop into EV mode. The last part is sometimes easier said than done. -
One other thing: the 303a package is weird, funky, and cool all at the same time! LOL

28k miles on the hybrid SEL when we traded it in on an Energi. No problems. Worst tank: 33mpg (80mph on I-10 into a strong headwind and 100f). Best tank: 65mpg (895 mile tank) for the hypermile challenge.

WOW, how did I miss this thread? Here's a pic of my Ruby Red from last year. I posted in another thread back then but I like it so much I thought I'd share it again. I use it as the background on the MFT center screen.

Yup, it's a great car! :happy feet: Wait till cooler temps allow for less a/c use and you too may get results like this!

You know you're becoming a skilled hybrid driver with new, ingrained muscle memories when you consciously think to yourself after a pulse, "Oh, I need to get into a glide" and look down at the gauges and see you're all ready gliding. :shift:
-
My wife sticks to the speed limits or maybe 5 over but she is a digital driver (gas and brake pedals are either on or off). :shift: You don't dare drink or hold a cup of hot coffee if you're a passenger! :gaah: She consistently gets horrible mileage in any vehicle she drives but if you were to ask her to rate herself on driving efficiency she's probably give herself an A-........ :headspin:

Way hotter and sunnier here than Detroit but I have no heat issues with leather seats. I like them for many reasons but like kostby I wouldn't go with black. I'd think you'd want heated seats which are standard in the SEL. I understand money is money but for me the SEL is a better value than the SE. Once you get a car with keyless start and entry, you'll never want another vehicle without it. I thought the rain sensing wipers would be borderline useless but they are great in their own way too. There are way more features than those of course. Just my 2cents.

Welcome guys! :happy feet: Yes, the turning radius is larger but you get use to it and plan accordingly. If you have the SEL that has the powered drivers seat, it will raise up very high (IMO). I like it that way for the higher view and easier ingress/egress. Also the steering wheel telescopes in/out in addition to the regular up/down. That's overlooked by some.

Pg 280 of the OM: ENGINE OIL CHECK A. MIN B. MAX Note: Check the level before starting the engine. Note: Make sure that the level is between the MIN and MAX marks. 1. Make sure that your vehicle is on level ground. 2. Turn the engine off and wait 10 minutes for the oil to drain into the oil pan. 3. Remove the dipstick and wipe it with a clean, lint-free cloth. Replace the dipstick and remove it again to check the oil level. If the level is at the MIN mark, add oil immediately.

Yes, that method would take a loooooong time. With car on and in Park, simply press the accelerator to the floor and the ICE will start and continue to run through its warmup program (or until you turn the car off) which is more than enough time to get out and check for leaks and get a proper reading on the dipstick.

I've only had the upgrade system so I can't help ya' there but IIRC for the big sync update last summer there was only one download for everyone. That would lead me to believe that sync (and its features) are identical on both sound systems but wait for a confirmation on that. Also, the phone pairing process takes less than :30 secs so you should be able to test your phone on any test drive. Just remember to delete it when you're done.
-
I recently moved from an iPhone to a Note 3 and was concerned how sync would handle it. My thread here: http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/topic/3758-samsung-galaxy-phones-sync/ Everything works including reading texts. This feature became more important than streaming for me.

I totallllllllllllly understand! :wub2: :clapping: Say hello on the NRG forum too when you get a chance.

Brakes dead while battery dead
fotomoto replied to CMax-Traveler's topic in Brakes, Chassis, Park Assist & Suspension
You still had brakes as the e-brake sort of proved. What you didn't have was powered brakes. You'll really need to mash HARD on the pedal to get any stopping power just like you have to crank hard on a steering wheel without power assist. -
I just ordered the test kit. Going to use it as a base test on my wife's new Energi. If you haven't read their FAQ, it is quite witty: http://www.blackstone-labs.com/faq.php I found this nugget (lights fuse and runs away): What's the best oil to use? Ah, the million dollar question. We are an independent lab, so we don't make recommendations. It has been our experience that oil is oil, and either petroleum or synthetic-based oil will work well for just about any engine. Come on, you're holding out on me. I should use synthetic, right? Buddy, you should use whatever you want. Synthetic oil won't guarantee a longer engine life any more than my eating organic food will guarantee I'll live until I'm 90. We here at Blackstone generally use regular petroleum-based oil because honestly, it works just as well for us.

I like the clean looks of both cars without the front license plate that is mandatory here.

Buying our C-max during or after our lease
fotomoto replied to fordfan82's topic in Buying, Order and Leasing
I don't lease so I'm not really educated on the finer points but isn't there an stated value in the contract? Sorta' similar to a balloon payment? -
Ha,ha. No one is overweight. There was no fast food then nor much in the way of highly processed foods. They ate mostly natural foods and walked.

Thread jack! Kellytoons is doing it right folks. At least by me and my "life coach" that I found in this book: http://www.youngernextyear.com/ It was recommended to me a couple of years ago by someone on the prius forum. I've been following it ever since and I truly do feel soooooooo much better aka younger; especially after I lost 60lbs! :happy feet: I exercise 45-60 minutes everyday 6 days a week and I quit eating crap. ;) Here's a street scene of 1901 New York City. What is the common factor of ALL the people in it?
