  1. FYI, just received the "Parts are now available ..." letter for my 2013. Cheers
  2. Is this not simply the engine running? Whether or not the engine runs at start-up is (mainly) a function of the HVB (high-voltage battery) state of charge. So if the HVB needs charging when the car is started, the engine will start so it can recharge the HVB.
  3. Hopefully the cable has broken or merely become disconnected. It happened to me following transmission replacement years ago. Fix was done by Ford so I have no idea how to DIY. Perhaps someone with the shop manual can help.
  4. Probably called a grommet. I would check first with a dealer as it's likely not available after-market.
  5. I took mine to a body shop. Problem is caused by spot-welds holding the track in place breaking. Don't know what the shop did, but it's been fine for three years. Here's a picture of the loose track; I could move it back and fourth with my fingers.
  6. Might you still have the 3.10 download site? I'm stuck on 3.6 and am most annoyed at not being able to set the clock via GPS. Thanks.
  7. I would love to know how to "sync the clock" on my 2013 SEL.

    Battery Issue?

My apology; I'm wrong on both counts. The procedure is not in the owners manual and an OBD device along with forscan is needed to reset the 12V battery monitor.

    Battery Issue?

Procedure is outlined in the owners manual. Also search the forum for battery reset. No special tools are required.
  10. Remember to reset the battery age monitor after replacing the 12V battery. Charging scheme depends on knowing how old the battery is.
  11. FYI, the cargo area hatch can not be opened if the 12v battery is dead; best to stow the jumper battery/cables under the passenger seat.
  12. Unfortunately the lift gate latch is electrically operated, and, to my knowledge, there's no (easy) way to open it from inside. Best bet is to use jumper cables to provide power. Cheers.
  13. Owners have gotten over 200k miles without any significant hi-voltage battery worries. Remember, the C-Max has 2 separate batteries: the hi-voltage one which is very expensive but hasn't caused issues, and a small 12-volt battery which typically needs replacing in 4-5 years at a cost of about $100-$150. Many times, it isn't clear which of the batteries is being discussed. Also, to muddy the waters more, the C-Max Energi uses it's even-larger hi-voltage battery more than the regular C-Max hybrid. Some comments on this forum refer to reduced Energi driving range (how far can one drive using only the battery). If yours is a plain-vanilla C-Max (SE or SEL model), I wouldn't worry about battery replacement. Cheers.
  14. The high-voltage battery is used to start the engine.
  15. Yes, this can be an issue. There was a thread about this some time ago that had to do with pine needles clogging drains.
  16. Be careful when talking about batteries; the C-Max has two completely separate and different batteries. The first is the lithium-ion battery that is used to power the car when running in ev (electric vehicle) mode. The second is a conventional, although quite small, 12 volt battery. I presume the 300,000 mile statement refers to the lithium-ion battery as the 12v battery typically lasts about 3-5 years, say 60 to 100k miles. Cheers
  17. My guess is that the tires are a bit stiff and it takes a mile or so for them to regain flexibility. Just a thought.
  18. Carbon monoxide, produced by automobile engines, can and does kill people. Please do not leave the engine running while you're inside the car.
  19. Sounds similar to my experience (100k miles). Replaced just one injector and all is fine. And at nowhere near $1400. FYI, injectors are easily checked by a decent shop. Also, I've read OEM injectors are preferred.
  20. If you do have the 12V battery replaced, be sure the battery age setting is reset. This needs to be done so the charging system can work correctly (different rate of charge depending on battery age). Search the forum for more info.
