  1. FYI, the cargo area hatch can not be opened if the 12v battery is dead; best to stow the jumper battery/cables under the passenger seat.
  2. Unfortunately the lift gate latch is electrically operated, and, to my knowledge, there's no (easy) way to open it from inside. Best bet is to use jumper cables to provide power. Cheers.
  3. Owners have gotten over 200k miles without any significant hi-voltage battery worries. Remember, the C-Max has 2 separate batteries: the hi-voltage one which is very expensive but hasn't caused issues, and a small 12-volt battery which typically needs replacing in 4-5 years at a cost of about $100-$150. Many times, it isn't clear which of the batteries is being discussed. Also, to muddy the waters more, the C-Max Energi uses it's even-larger hi-voltage battery more than the regular C-Max hybrid. Some comments on this forum refer to reduced Energi driving range (how far can one drive using only the battery). If yours is a plain-vanilla C-Max (SE or SEL model), I wouldn't worry about battery replacement. Cheers.
  4. The high-voltage battery is used to start the engine.
  5. Yes, this can be an issue. There was a thread about this some time ago that had to do with pine needles clogging drains.
  6. Be careful when talking about batteries; the C-Max has two completely separate and different batteries. The first is the lithium-ion battery that is used to power the car when running in ev (electric vehicle) mode. The second is a conventional, although quite small, 12 volt battery. I presume the 300,000 mile statement refers to the lithium-ion battery as the 12v battery typically lasts about 3-5 years, say 60 to 100k miles. Cheers
  7. My guess is that the tires are a bit stiff and it takes a mile or so for them to regain flexibility. Just a thought.
  8. Carbon monoxide, produced by automobile engines, can and does kill people. Please do not leave the engine running while you're inside the car.
  9. Sounds similar to my experience (100k miles). Replaced just one injector and all is fine. And at nowhere near $1400. FYI, injectors are easily checked by a decent shop. Also, I've read OEM injectors are preferred.
  10. If you do have the 12V battery replaced, be sure the battery age setting is reset. This needs to be done so the charging system can work correctly (different rate of charge depending on battery age). Search the forum for more info.
  11. The assumption is that the Energi engine will be used about half as much as in the hybrid, hence the longer oil change interval. Which is also why the Energi transmission has a separate oil pump.
  12. Yep, it's a pain. But search the forum. Iirc, someone suggested removing a fender bolt to provide a bit more wiggle room.
  13. Let me add my thanks. It's too bad some of the more knowledgeable members have chosen to leave. But perhaps they will check in again; let us hope so. Cheers.
  14. FWIW, I've found my 2013 SEL very comfortable (90k+ mi).
  15. Assuming it was the 12V battery that was replaced, your issue may well be caused by the battery-age-reset-procedure not having been done. Your car needs to be told when the 12V battery is replaced in order to keep the new battery charged properly. So if the battery age wasn't reset, you will likely need another new 12V battery (and the battery age reset at that time). Search the forum for more info. Cheers.
  16. FWIW, my (2013 SEL) back-up sensors failed to work when the 12V battery was on it's last legs. Lots of funkiness with a weak 12V battery. Cheers.
  17. Try injector cleaner. Lucas is good. Good luck with the car. 90k mi. on mine and I'm still very happy with it. No backup camera, so I can't help with that.
  18. I think the transmission issue was first noticed in vehicles used in taxi service.
  19. There's a TSB for this in the Maint. section.
  20. Google says that's correct, i.e. 3.67 degrees = 220.2 minutes = 3 degrees 40.2 minutes.
